I know this may go against the popular sentiment on this site, but the facts are these:

Evan Turner spend a lot of time at the point at the next level, especially if he shows continued improvement at the position.

Wesley Johnson will be freakin 24 years old in July! He will be a lottery pick, but there is ZERO chance he will go before players three and four years younger than him and just as talented in a strong lottery.

Xavier Henry is and will be a nice player at the next level, but people saying he is top five just aren’t paying attention outside of CBS and ESPN’s Games of the Week. Aminu has been a beast all season and like most top talent is getting better.

Aminu is and will be a nightmare matchup in the NBA in just a couple years on the right team. He has the wingspan of airliner and is super quick with a nose for the ball. When he adds some strength to consistently back down defenders, he will become a legit 2nd option or a dynamite 3rd option. Just you watch…

Turner and Wesley Johnson will be…

I’m all for thinking outside the box. However Aminu is VERY raw, his shot is pretty broke from mid-long range. Very weak body.

Also you know he plays #4 PF for wake right?

Like the announcers were saying last game, he’s going to be a #4 in the NBA, and he will need to gain weight. He’s not a 3.

its all on how he performs in March….between…….

    Wesley Johnson
    Stanley Robinson
    Al-Farouq Aminu
    Damion James

Whoever has the best March in conference tournaments, and the NCAA tourney, should be the first swingman off the board.

Would Johnson go over Aminu? He seriously has little upside. Your not getting a star in Johnson. Aminu has far more potential and his ball handling has improved quite a bit…Like they say, the jumper is the easiest thing to improve upon.

Turner will be taken over Aminu though.

I dont know about that bus wesley johnson only 22 he’s not that old i like aminu but i dont see him going before johnson or turner johnson maybe not be an elite scorer but he can be a gerald wallace type minus the rebounding and evan turner is worthy of the number 2 pick he can play any position and he rebounds like a center and he’s only 6’7

Wes Johnson plays the four too if I’m not mistaken and Aminu is only an inch or so taller. I think we can all agree Aminu is only 20 and 20 year olds with good work ethic can develop jumpers. Grant Hill never exactly lit it up beyond 20 feet either ya know? This is what GMs do to get themselves fired. I’m not saying Johnson is a scrub, but Aminu is averaging a double double with the same body Johnson has. Also, I said I believe Turner will be a PG/SG and spend less time if any at the 3, so he wouldn’t qualify as a swingman I believe.

I don’t see him being more than a 4th option…3rd option at best as a Josh Smith type. He’s very explosive and quick, but he isn’t an NBA level shooter or ball-handler right now, even though he has improved in those areas somewhat..

Oh, and Evan Turner and Wesley Johnson will be picked before him

it depends what team he goes to

if they play only 1 big man he’ll likely defend 4s-GSW
if they play a more conventional style he’ll defend 3s

either way he’s probably gonna need 2 get stronger

he has the most potential in this draft, it depends how his offensive and defensive awareness develops

Wes will be the 2nd pick after Wall. He’s an absolute beast. And by the way his birthday is 7/11/87 so if he does declare and gets picked he’ll play his first game as a 23 year old. Aminu is three years younger and improving. Turner is 1 year younger and stats say Turner is slightly better offensively then Johnson buy Johnson is a lot better defensively even though Turner is good. I project all of them top 5. Wes, Evan, Al Faroq. In that order. Teams picking in the top 5 want someone to contribute right away and age helps. But being younger gives them more time to develop and more of an impact. If I was a GM I’d be fine with any of these players.

He sat out last year because he transferred. Not many people even bother watching Syracuse or paying attention. Watch 1 Cuse game if you haven’t and you’ll love Wes and the defense

I don’t like the Syracuse defense. It makes it hard to evaluate Wesley Johnson’s individual defensive ability.

turner wont spend alot of time at the point. he plays poitn for his team because he has too. he gets assist but his decision making is not on nba level for a pg and his highest potential isnt at that position. yeah you would get fired if you took stanley over wes. wes skill level is alot higher then stanley. stanley is a great athlete though but so was rodney carney

Between Wes/Turner/Aminu I see it like this and I said this weeks ago. I see Wes Johnson playing the 3 in Minnesota, Evan Turner playing the 2 in Indiana, and Al-Farouq Aminu playing the 3/4 in Golden State. Saying New Jersey picks #1 and selects John Wall, but if those 3 teams pick 2-4 and GSW picks #2 they will go with Aminu.

I am not doubting his ability to start. What I am saying is I think he will achieve his maximum abilities as a 6th man. Just ask Jamal Crawford.

Yea if Minnesota gets to pick, either Johnson takes Brewer’s spot or Turner takes the vast majority of Ellington’s minutes. I’m willing to bet the T’Wolves would be more willing to give Turner the time to develop over Ellington, seeing as Ellington is basically just a shooter and isn’t someone that has alot of developing to do while Turner is already better and has some upside left.

Brewer would be better off coming off the bench anyway…He’s not going to make much of a difference. He’s better as a change of pace to an offensive-minded wing player, which is what they’d be getting in Johnson.

I don’t think Minnesota could go wrong selecting either one..

not saying its a bad thing but to say that after hes finished not even half of his rookie year doesnt make much sense. cant say a rookie is what hes gonna be and wont get much better then they are. i remeber people said that last year about brook and gallo and other years about rookies no rookie stays with the same game as they get older. for the most part they get better. too many people are quik to push them aside because they dont start out great

I think it’s safe to say that Ellington’s role is to shoot the ball though….He may develop some moves to free up his shot, but his whole reason for being in the NBA is to shoot the ball. Either way, I don’t see him ever being better than Evan Turner, so Minnesota wouldn’t really lose sleep if they had Turner playing above Ellington.

his role right now…yeah…and i think turner could be better but to say hes a 6th man after just half of his rookie year makes no sense.

Michael Redd was actually a much more of a slasher when he 1st got to the NBA, he developed his jumper in about his 2nd or 3rd year with help from Ray Allen

And Wayne Ellington will never be more than a slightly above average NBA athlete, and I might be being generous. Salim Stoudamire also had bounce, but he was nothing more than average athletically, maybe even below average.

Im a lifelong cuse fan and i havent missed a minute this year, Wes is an absolute beast, hes the reason were a top 5 team this year. Hes going to be a top 5 pick this year maybe even 2nd overall, the guy does everything very well, shoot, score, defense, and rebound. My only problem with him is that while he will always get his points and rebounds, he never really does it in a takeover the game kinda way(up until the Marquette game anyways). But back on the original post,
GreenLanter, Al-Farouq Aminu will not be the first SF taken off the board, me personally, even after I just praised Wesley, I think im taking turner over him, just something about him.
    Top 3.
    1. John Wall
    2. Evan Turner
    3. Wes Johnson
