JNixonParticipantIm just leaving the game.Remember that Scouting opportunity I told you guys about? Well, I was with UGA’s athletic directors watching the game. Still smiling lol…Anyway, here’s what I saw:
FLORIDA:
Kenny Boynton has a nice, nice jump shot. He was money out of the gates, hitting 3 3’s in about the 1st 7 mins of the game. He’s nothing more than mediocre as a ball-handler though, and it kind showed when he tried to create off the dribble. He’s an excellent on-ball defender. Very intense. He’s not a PG at all. I think he’s a 2 or 3-year player for Florida, nice scoring ability.
Chandler Parsons could be a sleeper prospect. He reminds me of a young Mike Miller. Decent athlete, better than I thought. through down a sick alley-oop. He’s got a sweet shooting touch and can run the PG for spurts. He’s nothing more than mediocre handling the ball. He’s not all that good on defense either. He’s not strong and it showed getting through screens and fighting on the glass.
Irving Walker didn’t play that good. He’s got nice range on his shot and a quick release, but he was content with just heaving up shots from NBA-range. He can be sloppy making decisions as a PG. Seems like more of a SG at times than PG. Gets tunnel vision slashing to the rim. He’s very quick though. Can pressure the ball on D, but he’s a liability in half-court at his size.
Dan Werner plays like he’s scared. He could’ve won the game, but he tried to pass it. SMH
Alex Tyus’ hairline is ridiculously far back. Hi dreads are holding on for dear life.
Vernon Macklin has long arms and good size and a nice jump hook. But heVs not the presence on D that he should be.
UGA:
Travis Leslie is a freak of nature athletically. He’s a great finisher around the rim and a spectacular off-ball defenser. He is however a poor on ball defender and ball-handler. He also is below average shooting the ball. This site has him in the 1st round of the 2011 draft and rightfully so. Wish he was about 2 inches taller. Easy to tell he looks up to D.Wade
Trey Thompkins is a NICE prospect. Sleeper guy. He’s a long armed player with a grea frame. JJ Hickson type prospect. Rebounds well, can score from mid-range has 1 or 2 nice moves down low he can do with both hands. He has somemassive hands as well. Nice prospect for next year.
Dustin Ware was terrible running the offene and it wouldvebeen his fault if UGA lost.
Jeremy Price has the widest frame I’ve ever seen in person. He uses it well at the rim and in the high post
Demario Mayfield will be a nice PG prospect by the time he leaves UGA. You herd it here 1st.
Ricky McPhee is a nice shooter. He sucks at everything else.
