unaznizedParticipantmine would be jordan hill and jrue holiday.
when i watched hill, he is a pretty good athlete. but he seemed very soft and doesn’t like a lot of physical contact. he doesn’t have very good hands. and he is very turnover prone. he reminds me of chris wilcox.
and as for holiday, he has the size to play point guard, but he is also very turnover prone. he doesn’t make very good decisions while playing the point, including his shot selection, which shows why he shot such a low percentage. so based on that, i don’t think he would fair well playing the 2.

Ryan.Cook2Participantcurry. he has to take a ton of shots to be effective.

knicks82Participantthat someone is gonna be a bust from watching them play these summer league games. I mean alot of these guys havent played a game in 4 or 5 months. I mean Marcus Banks and Gerald Green lit up the summer league and what has that translated into in regular season play? Absolutely nothing. And I gotta defend my guy Jordan Hill a little, he made some nice inside moves today to score and got to line to make 8/9. 16 pts 9 boards 2 blocks. He has a Much better touch than Chris Wilcox.

nateoak10Participantcompletely inaffective. curry had a horrible team accept for moorow and randolph, so his assist will go up in the regular seaqson and the points will come when people arent crowding him. but man holiday didnt do anything, zilch. he was awful

Adi JosephDon’t you guys remember when Gerald Green was the next great player because of summer league?

flibbenmcgParticipantI think Jrue holiday could be, but im not going to stick faithfully to that prediction. That NJ/PHI team was an absolute joke, almost every play they ran was an iso and they didnt mesh at all.
If summer league porved any busts its Hasheem Thabeet, the great dynasty changing shot blocker really has done nothing but the odd dunk, not even block shots, i keep checking box scores lokking for 4 blocks given that hes playing against rookies and NBA wannabees and i think the most he’s had is 2.
Maybe Eric Maynor also, he passed decently and saw the floor well sorta, but his shooting was just downright ugly, and his passing game and his defense couldnt make up for it.

wuteverParticipantThabeet??? maybe i mean its only summer league but what is he averaging like 4 boards and like .5 blocks for a 7fter…ionno he still has time but so far he looks pretty soft and lost.

JNixonParticipantHasheem Thabeet, Jrue Holiday, and even though he’s already in the NBA I was disappointed in Julian Wright. I was expecting him to play pretty good since he’s more experienced than alot of the guys out there.

jgunnaParticipantI agree that Jrue Holiday looked horrible, but lets remember that last year’s ROY (Derrick Rose) didn’t have the best summer run playin’ down here in Orlando last summer either when ppl were calling him a bust @ #1. Fact of the matter is it’s waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to be calling players busts/bums when they haven’t even played when it matters yet.

MagikKnickParticipantHow do you mention Jordan Hill over Hasheem Thabeet?

BasketballGuru24ParticipantJrue Holiday……Guy was over-hyped and looked lost on the court

meisi4Participant@ nateoak10
you said morrow and randolph where the only good players on the GS squad. i agree on that but how can you then defend curry for not having anyone to pass to? i mean both of these guys put up summer league records in scoring and you say his assist total will go up with a better team? he had the to best scorers in the summer league to pass to right? if he can´t get it done with this guy´s in summer league whom will he need to get his assit total up in the season? kobe, bron, and dwight traded to GS? he will dish out more assists then agreed but my little sister would as well….
by the way dissapointment of the summer league: jrue holiday although he played like i expected him to. and thabeet who proved what i tought of him…
but this is only summer league in the regular season everything can change….0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/19/2009 - 8:06am #184374
Stanford hoopsParticipantid say holiday..its funny when i said i dont see what all the talk is about everyone claimed im a hater even though i based it all on seeing him play against better competition in college and everyone else was baseing it on what he did against worst competition in highschool. Im not too sure on haseem because hes raw and didnt expect much out of him..and was never sold on julian wright..always knew he couldnt shoot suspect handles and pretty much he was just a athlete who could dunk..similar to darius miles but on a lower scale

deshawynkeys91ParticipantThe One thing Summer League can show us is WHO CAN’T PLAY IN THE LEAGUE!! and that pretty much is the only u can take away from watching these games… with that being said u also have to make some allowances for guys who are still in there teens(j. holiday, b. mullens).
Not Going to Fare Well in the NBA:
– j. hill
– h. thabeet
– s. curry
– g. henderson

JNixonParticipantJosh, I always thought the same things about Holiday. I HATE HIM! But then Philly went out and got him. Now I have to pray he is a good player, or else the bashing will begin again. Why couldnt we just get Jeff Teague

MagikKnickParticipantWow, people enjoy saying Hill’s name…
Jrue Holiday was always overrated, he had a great high school year, butif he didnt do good in college, what were people expecting him to do in the NBA? His high school days were the only reason he got drafted, because if he entered the draft solely based on his college performance, he would of been undrafted, imo..

JNixonParticipant^^^ Thank you sir. You sayin all the same things I always say and everybody wanted to take up for Jrue Holiday. I never thought Jrue Holiday shouldve ever got drafted.

Meditated StatesParticipantGame when the best players are out there. Some guys games may transfer better when Lebron or another star is distracting attention. Summer league is ok, but I would not put too much stock in it. Thabeet will look better when he gets easy dunks from Mayo penetration. A lot of things will change. Curry might shoot a higher percentage when Ellis is getting doubled or Steven Jack is going off and people are helping. Too early to call anyone a bust I’m sorry,

Soulrebel15ParticipantIt’s way to early to be calling anyone a bust, at least from the 09 draft. We should be evaluating the 07/08 players. NBA Summer League is just an avenue for players to get better/enhance skills. Can you get an indication of a players skill set at the summer league? Yes, but It’s almost a catch 22, you look at a guy like Marco Belinelli who was doing his thing in the summer league, but he never duplicated that play when it mattered. Say whatever you want about Nate Robinson, he put up big numbers in the summer league and continued that play in the regular season.
