HaleParticipantWho are some guys from the past who you wish either were still in the NBA today, or got a shot to play in the NBA? You’re reasons can be logical or purely selfish, doesn’t matter to me.
I have two: Darius Washington Jr. and Rashad McCants
Darius Washington Jr. made a poor decision leaving as a sophomore. Had he left as a freshman, he would’ve surely been drafted and if he came back for his junior season he could’ve seen his stock go way up with a big season. He’s basically the reason I became a Memphis fan so obviously I wish he was given more of a shot then he was. He wasn’t bad when he actually played a few games for the Spurs.
Rashad McCants supposedly had an attitude problem, yet nearly everyone who’s been around him likes him. He should still be in the NBA regardless. You can’t tell me that some team wouldn’t find his scoring ability valuable off the bench. When he was actually getting consistent minutes he proved he could play. In his 3rd year he averaged 14.9 ppg (20 ppg per 36 min) 2.7 rpg and 2.2 apg in 26.9 mpg and actually shot good percentages considering the team he was on. 45% from the field, 40% from deep and 75% from the line. Even with reduced minutes after being traded to the Kings he was still averaging 19 ppg per 36 min and 44% from the field. I’m sure worse players are in NBA rotations right now.
Anyways, those are my two. What about you guys?

BigChamp12ParticipantRonald Steele…. University of Alabama… Won the Mr. Basketball twice in Alabama and also won Mr. Football once. He was offered a football Scholarship at Florida to play Quarterback but turned it down to play for the Roll Tide. He was the complete floor general and was arguably the best true pg in College and a definite first rounder his freshman and sophomore seasons. He could shoot the ball well and and always made the right play. He considered going pro but didnt because he had a strong Top 10 team returning for his junior year in which he was injured and never returned to his best form. He never finished his college career due to several injuries but has been making a living playing in Europe. Steele and Darius Washington had some EPIC battles on the AAU Circuit.

BigChamp12ParticipantFunny Story about Rashad McCants… I’ll try to make it short. I’m a Tar-Heel fan and Rashad McCants happens to be one of my fav UNC alums. Well I went to school in Mississippi. I got a few messages from a random girl (white) on facebook often. I thought she was spam. She would always send things like “Hey, how are you” and “Let’s talk” So one bored day, I responded curiously. We had a convo in which she told me her age, where she lived and that she had no friends near. She invited me to her place which was near my school. But I was skeptical so I told her maybe one day. Conversations happened maybe once a week very briefly. About 1 month later she asked me when were we going to “Chill” so I said F it. I got her info, gave it to my roommate and my grad asst and told them to call me 30mins and if I didnt answer nor text back, to come to that place. (I was being very cautious.) Anyway I went and the girl from facebook was there and real, even her dog which was also photoed on FB.. We chilled, talked, and had a few drinks. By that time my grad asst had called and asked “You good?” LOL I replied, “I’m Good Bro” and hung up. After sex (yeah we had sex), I noticed a few picture frames turned down on her night table, I turned them over and there he was! They were pictures of her and Rashad McCants looking like a couple, I kid you not. I was like wtf… She said, “you know him? Thats my ex” Honestly from that point on, I’m wasn’t even focused on her or the sex that we just had, I only wanted to know How and Where she met him? Did they still talk? and ect… I’ll end the story right there, but it was pretty crazy to me, I was sleeping with his ex. Not a high school sweetheart or anything but a recent post- NBA career ex.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantI hope my cousin and some of the other guys from Florida Gulf Coast get a chance to play in the NBA. That would be a first for the NBA since the school is fairly new. I also wish Flip Murray was still in the league. Dude was very underrated. I remember his second year when Ray Allen was injured at one point he was a top 5 NBA scorer before Ray Allen returned. Some other career highlights of his was when he crossed Lebron in the rookie game and I remember when he dunked on Kirk Hinrich in a playoff game too.

Chilbert arenasParticipantKirk punches Flip in the nuts mid air and it doesn’t even faze him. That’s why we call him Steal Nuts Flip.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPBzlBaYRj8Also I wish my best friend from HS was in the league, TJ Campbell, he played for Canton Charge last year and did pretty well but he’s over in France now.

samosasParticipantBeing from SEC country, I watched Chris Lofton a lot, and it was frightening any time you saw him. He was one of the purest shooters I’ve ever seen. Jimmer was nowhere near the quality Lofton was. 42% career 3pg field goals and goddamn talk about unlimited range. I really hoped I would see him in the league. Tearing up Asia, though.

cuseflynn10ParticipantAveraged 14 ppg and 4 apg as a rookie. Not spectactular numbers but he could have gotten to 18 and 6 in the NBA easily I think if it weren’t for the injuries. Still could work his way back into the league, but it’ll be an uphill battle. He’s currently averaging 18-6-4 in the Australian League. I think he could be a good backup PG in the league if he were given the chance.
