I want some opinons on this because I’m confused on these two subjects.

    Trade Demands

I read the backlash on the Chris Paul wanting a trade and all I could say is: really? People are really ripping him? I don’t understand it. Chris Paul is 25. He’s the best point guard in the game when healthy, if he wants a trade- I feel it’s something you have to do. It’s something I believe you should do because what does it say if other players want to leave? Also, it’s sometimes better to move on. I cannot think of one player who wanted a deal who wanted a trade and didn’t get his wish not because he was easily replaceable but because sometimes it’s eaiser to just move on.

Some people will say ” He has 2 years left on his deal, New Orleans doesn’t have to move him”. If you want to keep him there fine but New Orleans should not be upset if he doesn’t play hard. Disgruntled superstars have value. Paul has played well enough to where moving him would give you players who could provide you to rebuild and win. They may not win next year but you could rebuild to win within 3 seasons.

My only issue with CP3’s trade demands is he has a list of teams. It looks premeditated. It seems as if what we said at Melo’s wedding ( That he wants to join them and play for NY) is something he wants to do. Or he could go to Portland and team with Roy ( Interesting because Roy needs the ball in his hands) and so on and so forth.

Now let’s talk about Superstar players wanted to team up

    Magic, Kareem, Worthy
    Bird, Parrish, McHale
    West, Baylor, Chamberlian
    Russell, Jones, Havelchick
    Jordan, Pippen
    Shaq, Kobe

Let me say first: I don’t like the Trios thing. I don’t like 3 really good players on one team.

History shows that more likely, you need 2 stars to win a title. I dislike the fact that Wade, James and Bosh joined together for the fact that: It seemed dirty the way it happened. But I cannot disagree that what they did was the best way to push for a title. People can rip LeBron for ” The Descion” and what he did to Cleveland and picking Miami but If he wins a ring next season and a Finals MVP award- You think it would matter? You think his legacy is forever tarnished? There are many things that happened in the past. Kareem wanted out in 1974, Hakeem wanted out in 1987, Barkley wanted out in 1990, Magic Johnson wanted out in 1981. Kobe wanted out in 2008. James was the ONLY guy who left and I think that’s the issue people had. The fact that he did it on his own terms was the issue.

I do think the NBA needs to find a way to stop this because I do feel like the top teams in the top market besides the Clippers will be able to do this. Who says the Heat or Knicks or Lakers won’t do this down the line in 2015 with Curry, Evans and Griffin? Or the Knicks do something where John Wall, Curry, Cousins and Evans are all on the roster?

I think duos are alright but when 3 superstars are doing it? I think there are other teams looking to do it in the future.

thEy should be upset if he doesn’t play hard. What does that say about a player if they don’t play hard if they don’t get there way. You get paid millions to do something you would play for free. Not one person would agree that a player shouldn’t play hard and I’m sure Paul wouldn’t do a coward thing like that. Teams shouldn’t trade players just because they want out. This is a business before it’s a sport and you do what’s best for you’re business as a gm just like players do when they ask for a contract. This is nothing new in the NBA for thoses old enough to remember. There have been teams with more talent in the past then Miami has.

Too be honest I could really care less since the lakers will win reguardless where he goes(one spot he wants to go is the lakers)

You went off into so many random tangents I didn’t even know what you were talking about. I felt I went on a blast to the past back to the future.

    FYI

Some of those greats you named up there didn’t get together as superstars. Jordan/Pippen were both drafted by the Bulls 3 years apart. Jordan had already established himself as a star but Scottie came in as an unknown prospect from s small school. He developed into the HOF player he became he didn’t join MJ and the Bulls as one. Same for Kobe and Shaq (or vice versa). Shaq signed with the team in 1996 and Kobe was still an 18 year old Rookie at that time, definately not the superstar he is today.

When Cahmberlain got to the Lakers he was past his prime (either that or he went from averaged 40 to 50 poitns a game to like, 15 ppg lol). This has got the be the first time in NBA when 3 franchise type players get together in their primes.

I see nothing wrong with Chris Paul wanting to team up with other stars; the Heat have set a standard (yes, even before the season has started) with the team they put together and players are responding and wanting to be the ones to take the Miama Big 3 down.

Can we stop saying bosh is a franchise player cuz he isn’t. Wade yes lebron yes bosh no. He’s a allstar not franchise player. I’m wondering why it’s worst to join other stars I’m ur prime to some but not to have stars on you’re team that developed into stars when the end result is the same…you have stats on you’re team.

Players can have trade demand, but it really depends on who that guys is.

If that guy is seriously overpaid, got himself out-of-shape and sucked for the year and still complained about the situation and demanded a trade. This is just not right.

However, in CP3’s situation, he has all the rights to demand a trade given the Hornets’ management incompetency in building a good team around him.

They made some pretty bad moves since CP3 arrival:
    – Signing Stojakovic to a ridiculous contract
    – Overpaying for James Posey who was getting old and only played well and hard in contract years.

Since they locked up so much money on these guys, they really had no financial flexibility to build a decent team around Chris Paul.

I don’t see any problem with CP3 demanding a trade. A lot of star players did that including Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Kobe Bryant. These guys did not just QUIT on their teams after the trade demand and still played hard and tried to fight for every win. These guys are winners in bad situation.

However, there are people who demanded a trade and quited on their team when the trade demand did not get through. These guys are losers and they will never win. The biggest example is Wince Harder. He is hated by the Raptors fans for a reason. He’s a quitter.

Vince Carter fell from “Half-man-Half-amazing” to “Wince Harder” for a reason.

I understand that Chris Paul was frustrated last year between being injured and his team’s general lack of talent. I think this frustration was amplified by the fact that three of his best friends (LeBron, Wade, and Bosh) are all now playing together in Miami and he has no way of rivaling that where he is now or joining it. That is why he made the trade demand; he wants to be able to rival his friends that “burned” him by teaming together without him and that can’t be done right now in New Orleans.

If I am New Orleans I DO NOT trade Paul. I work my ass off to try and get him help because like you said, he is the BEST point guard in the league and that is nearly impossible to replace. To prove my point there was Kobe Bryant a few years ago that wanted a trade. The Lakers kept Kobe and got Pau Gasol to help him and they became two time NBA champions. Paul Pierce one summer said he wanted to be traded if Boston wasn’t committed to winning by getting him some all star verteran help. Then came Ray Allen, later Kevin Garnett, two finals appearances, and an NBA title. Now I understand the the Pau Gasols and Kevin Garnetts don’t simply grow on trees but there are talented players that have been traded for very little in the past few years: Al Jefferson, Steven Jackson, Jamal Crawford, Zach Randolph, Al Harrington, Corey Maggette, and Mo Williams to name a few. There are talented players possibly on the block Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Josh Smith, Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy, Vince Carter, Gilbert Arenas, Jose Calderon, Monta Ellis, and Chris Kaman.

Now if they decide to trade Paul to one of his 4 selected destinations, then here is what I would do.

Below is a list of the young players from each of the 4 teams.

Dallas: Alexis Ajinca, Rodrique Beaubois, and Dominique Jones.
Orlando: JJ Redick, Marcin Gortat, Brandon Bass, Ryan Anderson, and Daniel Orton.
New York: Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Anthony Randolph, Toney Douglas, and Bill Walker
Portland: Greg Oden, Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Fernandez, Wesley Matthews, Jerryd Bayless, Luke Babbitt, Elliot Williams, Nicolas Batum, Jeff Pendergraph, and Dante Cunningham.

Dallas doesn’t have talented enough young players to involve in a trade, period. Orlando does have Redick and Gortat who are solid and Orton and Anderson are interesting but none of those players strike me as a future all star. The Knicks are better since Randolph and Gallinari have some all star potential. Unfortunately they just acquired Randolph and Felton so it may be a while before they can trade them. That leaves us with Portland which has tons of young talent that is desirable and would be the only team of the 4 I would actually trade Paul to.

Now Portland wont part with Brandon Roy in a deal for Paul which is fine but I would make them take Emeka Okafor along with Paul. I wouldn’t acquire Babbitt, Williams, Pendergraph, or Cunningham because I would want some more proven young talent for a player of Chris Paul’s ability. That leaves Oden, Aldridge, Fernandez, Matthews, Bayless, and Batum. I would want either Oden or Aldridge with my preference on Oden since he is younger and a center. Matthews probably couldn’t be involved in the deal since he was just signed. I would want Fernandez who wants out of Portland, Bayless who hasn’t been given enough playing time, and I would want Batum as well since he is a good wing defender and is very young. Throw in Andre Miller and Joel Przybilla to balance out contracts and I think you would have a deal.

Portland trades Greg Oden, Rudy Fernandez, Jerryd Bayless, Nicolas Batum, Andre Miller, and Joel Przybilla.
New Orleans trades Chris Paul and Emeka Okafor.

    This gives lineups of:
    Portland:
    Emeka Okafor / Marcus Camby
LaMarcus Aldridge / Dante Cunningham / Jeff Pendergraph
    Wesley Matthews / Luke Babbitt
    Brandon Roy / Elliot Williams
    Chris Paul

    New Orleans:
    Greg Oden / Joel Przybilla
David West / Craig Brackins / Darius Songaila
Julian Wright / Nicolas Batum / James Posey / Quincy Pondexter
Peja Stojakovic / Rudy Fernandez / Marcus Thornton
Andre Miller / Darren Collison / Jerryd Bayless

In a year New Orleans would have Przybilla, Songaila, Stojakovic, and Miller off the books and they could try and trade West and Posey during next season. That would make them more than likely a lottery team with the following lineup. They would have plenty of depth and competition at nearly every position.

    Greg Oden (22)
(David West) / Craig Brackins (22)
    Julian Wright (23) / Nicolas Batum (21) / (James Posey) / Quincy Pondexter (22)
    Rudy Fernandez (25) / Marcus Thornton (23)
    Darren Collsion (22) / Jerryd Bayless (21)

Garnett never demanded a trade… The Wolves traded him rather than offer him a 3 yr extension to his contract.

@Carter. You diget you don’t need the best prices to make a trade. How many trades have made no sense to fans? Teams don’t always go after the trades that fans think are best. U think other teams didn’t have better offers for gasol or tmac or Vince, etc

    Stanford Hoops.

I said franchise TYPE players, read carefully before you make such a statement.

I think we can both agree Bosh is NOT a franchise player; but he wouldn’t be a bad second option to build a franchise around
