SteroidParticipantWall is averaging somewhere around 8 turnovers in the summer league. I know the summer league doesn’t translate into the season. That has been proven on occasions, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Wall’s turnovers translate. He was very turnover prone in college, and I can only see it increasing because he’s playing against better competition and the NBA game is faster pace meaning there are more possessions; therefore, there will be more opportunities to turnover the ball. I’m going to say that Wall will average around 5-6 turnovers this season. How many do you guys think he will average?

JNixonParticipantI’ll say 3-point something, but it’ll round to 4.

WizardofOzParticipantI gonna say 4 . I think there’s a good chance Wall will lead the league in turnovers next season.

fastdanParticipantNo one ever averages 5 or 6 turnovers a game, EVER. And remember that he’ll be sharing the backcourt with Arenas or Hinrich, so he won’t be handling the ball as much as he is now. So I’ll say 3.3

Bryant24Participant3-4 most point guards struggle with turnovers their first season

JNixonParticipantYeah you can’t play a guy who gets 5-6 TO a game. That isn’t winning basketball, and it’s giving away too many possessions. Anything over 3 a game, unless you average like 7 assists on up, is too much to warrant much playing time.

IknoBall12Participantwalla is a high risk player. i def see him avergaing around 4 or 5 tunovers a game

sc0rebuckets11Participantthe more i see the lack of his natural playmaking. im not saying hes not a playmaker, but hes not a good drive and kick player. i think he decides what he’s gonna do way too early.. and bc of that, i expect to see a lot of forces…
imma say a little over 4. 4.1ish

JoeWolf1I’ll say 2.9 per game with about 7 assists per. He isn’t super polished as a point, but he’s a good distributer and I’m sure the first couple months will be closer to 4, but he’ll settle down.
Here are some numbers from the rookie point guards last year.
Curry – 3.1 TO per game
Collison 2.7 TO per game
Jennings – 2.5 TO per game
Flynn- 2.9 TO per game
Lawson – 2.2 TO per game (per 36 minutes)Rookie prediction for Wall
15.5 ppg 7.2 apg 3.3 rpg 1.6 spg 2.9 TO per game

WizardofOzParticipantWhat do you mean Wall can’t average 7 apg next season? He’s a good passer, and the Wizards have some talent, so he’ll have people to pass to.
I disagree with you unless you mean he’ll average more than 7.

OhCanada-ParticipantHe is going to score more points than 16…
20.9 Points and 9.2 Assists seem high to you?
How about 4.13 TO’s and 2.25 Assists per Turnover?
John Wall is the already one of the fastest players in the league. He is gonna play with pure athlete instincts as his go to move since he isnt as experienced and strong as NBA players. His intellegents and experience is gonna make him force plays with too much speed and not enough pace, lucky for him his speed and athletic abillity will also make for a special young player.
MINUTES-35MPG
Lets say considering that Jennings got 33 Evans got 38 and Curry got 36 he gets about 35 with or without Arenas and Hinrich.POINTS-20.9PPG
If shoots 16 shots pergame at 46%, shooting four of them from 3 at 32%, and making 7.4 shots pergame.1.3, 3pointers pergame and 6.1, 2pointers.
That would make 16.1ppg.
He goes to the freethrow line 6 times and shoots 80% for 4.8 completed shots.
That is another 4.8ppg for a total of 20.9 Points Per Game.REBOUNDS-
ASSISTS/TURNOVERS-9.2 Assists and 4.13 Turnovers
I believe that he will have 4 Turnovers pergame with 2.25 assist to per turnover which would mean 9 Assists Per Game and 4 Turnovers Per Game.Dont think 2.25 is that high since he instinctively has better playmaking skills than the followig players.Brandon Jennings A/TO = 2.35
Devin Harris A/TO = 2.31
Derrick Rose A/TO = 2.14I tallied everybodies estimates from JoeWolf up and the average TO belief would be 4.13 Turnover’s Per Game.Granted 2.25 assists per turnover is fair and the consensus 4.13 turnovers are fair he should get 9.2 Assists Per Game.
REBOUNDS-4.7
Wall is a great leaper with an amazing reach and verticle leap, and given he will be running the fastbreak there should be alot of rebounds for him to snag. Given the fact that Stephon Curry got 4.5 RPG on Golden States fast break and Evans got 5.3 on his I’ll say Wall gets 4.7 in Washington.STEALS/BLOCKS-1.75 Steals and 0.3 Blocks
John Wall has special defensive abillities. He is also a huge risk taker and that risk taking approach will only grow stronger influenced by Gilbert Arenas. Considering he will be gaurding the PG who should usaully be somewhat ball dominate (on most teams not named MIAMI), and considering his explosive speed, Wall should be able to get about 1.75 SPG at least. Tyreke Evans a less explosive player and not as known for his defensive abillities averaged 1.5.As fast and athletic as he is it is not common to see a PG block shots in this league. He does have amazing skills thou and we seen Rose do it.I’ll say he gets a little less blocks than Rose.Rose got 0.4 so I’ll rate Wall at 0.3.

0.3BPGI honestly think the assists seems high but if you think his Assist to Turnover Ratio is going to be less than 2 assists per turnover, you are sleeping on wall. Given this stat I think he will average about 3.5 Turnovers and about 7 assists.

Russell0WestbrookParticipanthe will average 4.4 because he can get out of control a lot and remember charges are turnovers 2 i see him throwing some wild passes every game if curry averaged almost 3 imagine wall who only has 1 speed FAST

dipt1982ParticipantSomewhere around 4 would be expected, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to be bad. He has to adjust to the NBA game like every other rookie. He will score 18-19 ppg, around 7 assists, 3-4 rebounds, and 4 TO’s…not a bad rookie season…he will only get better from there…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/14/2010 - 2:06pm #354295

ilike.panochasParticipantPeople are already tossing “All-Star” type numbers for John Wall, everyone is saying he will score from 18ppg to 20ppg , even Chris Paul, Derrick Rose and Derron Williams wasnt that lethal of a scorer as those numbers. 15PPG and 6-7 APG would be the realistic rookie stats for John Wall.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/14/2010 - 2:14pm #354299
kaceyParticipantI agree Wall at 15-16 ppg, 6-7 apg is a solid projection. 20 ppg is just ludicrous.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/15/2010 - 2:56am #354614

dipt1982ParticipantRose averaged just under 17 ppg and a tad over 6 assists. Wall will be more of the featured guy than Rose was in his first season, it’s not a crazy thought to see him put up 18-7 on a losing team…The Bulls made the playoffs in Rose’s first season, the Wizards WON’T. Plus, besides all of that, Wall is more of a scoring type than Deron Williams and Paul were in their first couple seasons.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/15/2010 - 3:14am #354619

OhCanada-ParticipantIf wall makes 4 Tos per game he will have about 8 or 9 assists. If he takes 16 shots he will have 20 Points.
On a losing team, running the fastbreak, with Arenas, Blatche and Mcgee Wall should be able to do whatever he wants. Rose hasnt been able to do that in Chico.Rose was on teams that stressed defense, winning and was limited by more of a half court game. Also Wall has one of the greatest offensive minds, Flip Saunders as Head Coach and a great teacher, former PG Sam Cassel.
Im saying 19ppg 4.7rpg 8apg 1.7spg .3bpg 3.7topg thats my final estimate.

0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/15/2010 - 4:33am #354649

ilike.panochasParticipantJohn Wall will have to share the ball with another “ball dominant” player like Gilbert Arenas, and Arenas is most effective with ball in his hands, Derrick Rose was the primary ball handler for the Bulls his rookie year, he had Ben Gordon but he was a 6th man and Kirk Heinrich was capable of scoring without the ball. So I really doubt John Wall averages more than 18PPG, 16PPG is the more realistic number.
