nbastarParticipantThe Detroit Pistons continued their run of low-key free agent acquisitions late Sunday night, when they reached agreements with point guard D.J. Augustin and small forward Caron Butler, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.
Augustin will be on the books for two years at $6 million; Butler will make $4.5 million next season with a team option for a second season.Augustin, 26, is coming off a resurgent season with the Bulls. He excelled off the bench in scoring 14.9 points per game and shot 41.1% from the three-point line.
The six-year NBA veteran started off shaky, being cut loose by the Toronto Raptors early on but caught on with the Bulls and now joins a Pistons backcourt crowded in point guard experience.
He is an 88% free throw shooter.
Butler, 34, is a 12-year veteran and has seen better days since he was a 20-point per game scorer for the Wizards. But he will be expected to provide locker room leadership.
The Pistons are Butler’s eighth team and fifth since 2010-11. He is a 43.5% shooter lifetime, with a points-per-game average just over 15 for his career.Source: http://nbasportupdates.blogspot.com/2014/07/pistons-land-dj-augustin-and-caron.html

juves4783Participantwell, i think re-signing greg monroe is probably holding them back from making any major moves. jodie meeks, caron butler and dj augustin are nice additions at low prices. the biggest thing this offseason though has to be the play of kcp. he played super aggressive and looked great in orlando.

phila9012ParticipantI have always liked him. I think he is a good 3rd PG for a team and would be fine being a back up PG when needed and should be able to handle back up duties full time in a year or 2. I think the wizards should pick him up that way he can sit behind andre miller for a year then back up John wall next year
