But does anybody see TMac at all? I think he’s more TMac than he is Melo. A more athletic Paul Pierce or a slight less athletic TMac. Anybody else see it?

Slightly less athletic? T-mac was easily one of the greatest athletes to have played, that was one of the main facets of his game, one of the KNOCKS on Bari is his athleticism. Secondly, T-mac was never a great shooter, especially in his early years he couldnt buy a jumper, even later into his career he was streaky as all heck, Bari is a a knock down from anywhere jump shooter.

I wouldn’t say Jabari is a knock down wherever kind of a guy, yes he can score from anywhere on the floor. He doesn’t have an automatic jumper. TMac and Jabari’s games are similar if you take a look. Jabari is just less athletic but he’s an underrated athlete in my opinion. They are both about the same size, jabari a little bit bigger. Both players have a pull up, midrange, outside and post up and when I watch Jabari he reminds me of TMac at times. I’m just throwing it out there because people say Melo.

About the same size? T-mac was a lanky to lean size his whole career, playing at around 200~210 for majority of his years in the league. Jabari is a big boy, and even if you think he is going to lose some of the baby fat he has on him, he is still going to a be a 230+ guy for most of his career because he is a combo foward as opposed to the point forward that Tracy was. Yes, Jabari has underrated athleticism to some degree, but he is only average to above average in that category, McGrady was an all time great in terms of sheer, raw athletic ability. Yes, they can both hit some jumpers off the bounce, score from multiple areas of the court and they are both 6’8", but the comparisons wear thin after that.

Parker really isn’t anything like T-Mac.  Everyone compares him to Melo b/c it’s the best comparison.

Glenn robinson was pretty damn good.

Was he lazy? Hell yeah. But that guy would get you a lazy 20-30 points every damn night

Plenty of guys will sweat their ass off and wont get you half that. Im well aware of Glenn Robinsons flaws but thats not a bad guy to be compared to. Thats saying you expect 21ppg. How many guys can you say that about in this draft?

      ^ this

Big Dog averaged over 20 PPG in 8 of the 11 seasons he played. And averaged 20.7 PPG and 6.1 RPG over his career. If that’s Parker’s floor he has a pretty good career ahead of him…

I would even say that Glenn Robinson was one of the most talented players of all time, in his prime i think he was the greatest mid range shooter i ever see, but he just wasn’t a team player and defender and those also my worries about Jabari, i don’t sure he is a coachable kid like wiggins…

The greatest mid-range shooter you’ve ever seen?  Where do you come up with the sh*t you post?  Jordan, Bryant, McGrady, Carmelo, Durant, Dirk, just to name a few who are in a different stratosphere compared to Robinson on mid-range shooting.  Big Dog greatest mid-range shooter, wow….

Jabari Parker has "sneaky" athleticism, similar to that of Carmelo Anthony and Paul Pierce. Some of his end-to-end plays at Duke show this, as did his reverse dunk in the summer league game. How many times have we seen Pierce beat his guy and go hard through the lane for what looks like a tough finish at the rim, only to see him explode up and jam the ball with ease?

Tracy McGrady, on the other hand, had apparent athleticism in every basketball skill he did. His speed, quickness, and jumping ability was on display just about every play. Andrew Wiggins fits this bill, more so than Jabari.

T-Mac averaged between 4-7 assists 9 different seasons during his NBA career. Despite a high bball IQ, I just don’t feel distributing like that is in Jabari Parker’s style of play. I honestly would be surprised if Parker hit for 4 apg once in his career.

I like how people think Paul Pierce was unathletic. While he wasn’t a Vince carter or Kobe Bryant in the air, with the ball he was every bit as dynamic if not better. Paul was athletic as is Jabari just not world class leapers. I like the Paul Pierce comparison scoring wise. He’s not the playmaker Paul or Tracy was. Maybe he gets better at distributing but his game doesn’t seem suited for that but it depends on how dominant he becomes. If he does become that 25ppg guy and can mix it up then it is possible.  Never really thought of Durant as a 4-5apg guy but he became one because he is so good people were wide open

I think Jabari will avg 20 his rookie season. If big dog is his floor he is going to have a hell of a career. He possesses that competitive edge and confidence, I think, to be one of the top scorers in the league and if he can improve his D maybe a top 5 player one day.

Dude, Tim Thomas?  C’mon.  Jabari is a very good rebounder, Thomas was an awful rebounder.  Jabari has a great mid-range game.  Thomas had zero mid-range game.  Jabari can take people off the dribble and get to the bucket.  Thomas had awful handles and never got to the bucket.  No, they are not similar.

T-Mac was a pretty good playmaker if I remember. I know he had to shoot a ridiculous amount later on when he was in Orlando, but I thought he averaged like 4-6 assits per game. Did Jabari ever have more than 3 assists in a game at Duke?

I think he will be a good scorer, but his feel for the game and court vision don’t seem great. When he puts the ball on the deck, he’s shooting it. And that is ok if you are a great scorer, but it makes comparing him to Paul Pierce or T-Mac difficult because both were decent passers.

McGrady and Wiggins would be a good comparison.  Jabari Parker,  Carmelo Anthony or Paul Pierce seems like a good comparison, maybe Bernard King with some inside play of Terry Cummings.  However he plays, parker is going to score a lot of points.

I did think he would have more assists in college, although maybe he didn’t have many options to pass to there.

G Robinson makes sense to think about as an equivalent to Parker, same team in the NBA and same position, but Parker should have him beat on outside shooting.
