Well deserved, plus if you watched the rockets during the pre-season, it was very obvious the Pat was the better player than Lin.

Beverly works better with the starters and Lin works better with the 2nd unit. If Lin is on fire some nights he will still end the game. This is the right call.

Yeah, don’t get too caught up on who starts.. They will average close to equal minutes. Some nights, when they need defense, Beverly will play a bit more. Nights when they need more offenses, Lin will play more.

No forget all that, Lin got a huge contract and hella hype and now he got his spot ran and now people talking about don’t get caught up in who starts.

CP3 would have NEVER backed up Bledsoe

DWill will never back up S.Livingston

Rose will never back Hinrich up

Pat Bev is a good player, but let’s be honest he’s a 2nd string PG at best and possibly a 3rd string PG on a strong team(LAC,BKN,CHI,etc)

    etc.

The hype Lin got and his contract makes this laughable

Hype and a nice contract doesnt mean your a good player… We aren’t talking about a top 10 Pg playing backup to a terrible player.. Lin is a dynamic guard that will play wherever he is told to.. Same goes for Beverly..

Your examples are bad because those PGs are much better than their backups.. Lin may be the better player but its not by much.. When that happens, you go with fit.. Think about if Deron Williams and Rajon Rondo were on the same team and couldn’t start together.. If you starting lineup needs more scoring, DWill would start over Rondo but if the starting lineup doesnt need more scoring and just needs defense with ball movement, Rondo would start..

Beverly plays off of the starters better and lin is better when he has the ball in his hands, so this makes sense. Also Lin can play the SG some too.

Oh God. I’m the biggest Rockets fan on this forum but stop it with all of these Patrick Beverley threads! They ALL say the same damn thing!

I’m sure there are more around here somewhere.

Okay, he fits better alongside Harden, he’s a better shooter, and a better defender. Lin is better with the 2nd unit because of his slashing abilities, ability to create his own shot, and the fact that he’s so ball dominant. We get it!

People were talking like Lin was a top 10 pg. When he hit free agency he was treated like a big deal. News papers , magazines a documentary etc etc. Lets not act like he was expected to be coming of the bench and to patrick Beverly at that who not that long ago wasnt a NBA lock. Teams generally dont make these Poison pills contracts and go out theyre way for back ups. just saying
