One of my favorite parts of the last week of the NBA season is watching some of the younger guys get playing time.  I was a big fan of the Notre Dame team in the 2015 NCAA Tournament that had Jerian Grant, Demetrius Jackson, Zach Auguste, and Pat Connaughton.  In these last two game that Connaughton has played major minutes, he has averaged 17 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 5.0 APG & 8/14 on 3pt shots (57%).

On Monday, Connaughton did start against the Spurs first unit and held his own. Everyone that has played with him love him as a competitor and teammate (aka the Blazer’s Bench Hypeman).  Now I’m not saying that he’s gonna be a star or even a starter but he seems to be a guy who could come off the bench, make a couple of 3’s, make the correct pass, put the ball on the floor, and be an overall pest on the court (he still has that 40+ inch vertical!!).  He’s got good size for a shooting guard 6’5" 210 lbs. Lateral quickness is lacking but he seems to have an NBA niche when it comes to shooting the ball.  He’s like Grayson Allen with his head on straight.  Hopefully the Blazers can have him be a part of their rotation starting next season.

He could be/already is a viable 4th Guard.
