It feels good lol. The Pacers beat Miami in Miami and now LA in LA. First win in LA since 1999.

Roy Hibbert was GREAT tonight and outplayed Pau *significantly*. He had 24, 12 and 6.

Kobe had 41 points, but needed 33 shots. Brandon Rush played him tough defensively. Kobe led a strong comeback in the third quarter, but missed a game tying three at the end of regulation to send it into overtime. He took a long three point attempt when he had at least a couple of more seconds to get closer.

The Pacers were a terrible road team last season, so it’s good to see this. It’s early, but I really feel the Pacers will be a playoff team. IF they stay healthy, I see no reason why they can’t grab the 6th – 8th seed.

I’m not surprised at all. He’s always been great in the low post, very skilled and a very good passer. It’s always been about endurance and aggressiveness with him.

He’s in the best shape of his life right now, being aggressive and has the confidence of his teamamtes and coaches. He’s going to have a very nice season. Granger is still the top option, but when the Pacers run their offense through Hibbert, they’re more successful.

Watched the second half on LPBB, was rooting for the Pacers to pull off the upset. Got a little bit worried when Kobe started heating up, but Rush did a great job defending him. TJ Ford had some great minutes down the stretch. While the win was nice, Pacers really struggled to execute offensively in the 4th; it was their great D which kept them in the game because they were missing a tonne of open looks.

Hibbert was looking pretty tired for some of the 4th, let’s hope he can stay fit enough to close out games. All credit to Roy for improving his game, but Bynum’s presence would have been a big factor in quelling Hibbert’s production tonight.

All in all, great to see the Lakers drop a game in the Staples Center, and the Pacers get the W.

When we picked him up in that JO trade, I posted on here I thought he could be the next Rik Smits (similar to him) and eventually be our starter at center. Smits started off slow in Indiana (needed to work on his coordination, strength, etc), but really developed over time. I thought Hibbert had similar potential. I’ve always felt Hibbert had nice upside considering he was very young for his class and had little basketball experience before going to Georgetown, yet improved so quickly.

The Pacers had been looking for a skilled center since Smits retired and Brad Miller left via free-agency. I thought and was hoping Hibbert could eventually be that guy. Good to see that he’s stepped up to the plate.

Another point that is barey talked about is how much of a great team player Hibbert. is.  He is always cheering on his mates, and even when he is hot he is still willing to give up the rock.  He is starting to grow on me.

I actually liked Hibbert at Georgetown and thought the only reason he could not have that success in the NBA was because he was said to be too slow which I thought was wierd because he looked pretty quick for a big man his last year in college.
