BasterdInABasketParticipantIll go with John Wall though
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 10:56am #265613

IndianaBasketballParticipantVery close… I think it’s Evan Turner.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 10:56am #265614

RotelaParticipantI will go for Turner, dude has too much potential…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 11:48am #265636

DanEboyParticipantI think Wall is just scratching his surface of what he can be. When he gets his defense and stroke down pat, his potential is scary good. I think the difference is that with Turner, we can see the type of player he is going to be, which is a very good one, but with Wall, it is still hard to gauge because we have only seen him play one year. And look what he is doing in that one year.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 12:06pm #265643
Michael.S.ParticipantEvan Turner? Let’s get serious. No offense to anyone that said him, but your lying to yourself and you know it. John Wall will be the best player out of this draft, i betcha.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 12:09pm #265645
QUINCEYthats the same thing i think about wall. i already see what hes gonna be but not sure if we have seen what turner is gonna be. in either case this is all a matter of opinion
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 12:19pm #265647

DanEboyParticipantI look at it like who knows what Wall’s numbers would be like if he wasn’t playing with so many studs. Maybe he would be dropping 25 a game. Turner has been the main guy on his team so we can see what all he can do. Wall has Cousins, Patterson, Bledsoe, all projected lotto picks. I realize that this only helps him as a player but my point is I feel like we don’t get to see all of what he is capable of because of it.
On the flipside, we don’t know what Turner would be doing playing with that kind of talent around him. So yeah, it all just opinion.
I just feel that as far as the word ‘potential’ goes, Wall has more of it.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 12:29pm #265652

MkadozaParticipantWall has, by FAR, the most potential in the draft. This guy still relies his athleticism for much of what he does, and if could get his floor game to even LAwsons level, he’s a lock for 18-4-6 early in his career. However, hes no a better basketball player than Turner. Turners skill level is above and beyond the best in the NCAA, and could be a top 10 SG the second he steps on an NBA court.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 2:27pm #265678

HandDownManDown13ParticipantTurner is a great player, but its not even close. i can see the arguement about who’s a better player currently but potential wise, theres no question. Wall has out of this world potential and as he puts it all together, he has the chance to be a superstar. I don’t think Turner has superstar potential, maybe all star potential. Wall has the potential to be one of the best players in the league.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 2:33pm #265679
QUINCEYwhich is why this is opinions..so many guys were said to have great potential but ended up being average or even out of the leauge
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 2:41pm #265682

JNixonParticipantDo you really see John Wall being out of the league though? Who has ever been this good wit such little overall polish to their game and been a bust? Whenever a player is raw, which is what I consider Wall to be despite how good he is right now, and is in discussion as a college player of the year that should tell you just how scary his potential really is.
I think Turner will be an All-Star player and one of the better players in the NBA. I think he’ll be R.O.Y next season for what it’s worth and I think he’ll be more NBA-ready than Wall, but he doesn’t have the upside of Wall, who can be a Superstar and top 10 player in the NBA. I don’t see that at all. He has upside, but he isn’t just scratching the surface of his talent the way Wall is.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 2:41pm #265683

festar35ParticipantIt has to be Wall, but i think Whiteside and Favors may surprise some people.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 2:44pm #265684

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWhat about Wally Judge?
I think the MOST potential? John Wall no doubt. I like Turner but I don’t know if he’s that Brandon Roy- Dwayne Wade type of player. He’s amazing I will say that but D-Wade and Roy in college were better.
Also, let’s factor he has to do all the passing, rebounding and scoring because OSU runs 6 deep. Wade had some help at Marquette and Roy had help at Washington.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 2:48pm #265687

JNixonParticipantWally Judge needs to worry about not fouling before he even says the letters NBA.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 2:54pm #265689

gregoden08ParticipantAnd to be honest, Favors has more upside IMO than Turner does. Favors is a close 2nd. I think people really underrate Favors and forget what a talent he is/going to be. He’s going to be a star in 3-4 years.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 3:00pm #265692
QUINCEYi dont see it with favors..he has a looooooooong ways to go to be a star. and i dont think wall will be out of the leauge but i didnt think gerld green would be either. or stromile swift. liek i said before this is all opinion..some feel wall others feel turner…no one knows but we will see
0- Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 3:07pm #265695

gregoden08ParticipantI do…His upside is considerable. Physically, he is very athletic and is well built. He is a year younger than most players in his class as well which means he can probably beef up even more. He can establish position against anyone and has long arms and can finish well. We all know he is a good rebounder and a good defender. You say he has a loooooong way before being a star. But I completely disagree. GT sucks and doesn’t know how to give him or Lawal the ball…Favor’s needs to improve his footwork, ft shooting and stop commiting cheap fouls. If he does that, he will be a top-5 pf in the league.

- Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 3:13pm #265697
QUINCEYi say he has a looooog way because right now his skill set on offense is low. he doesnt have any offense of moves.. he scores off turning around having longer arms being bigger and more athletic then whoever is checking him.. alot like josh smith when he was at that age
0- Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 3:16pm #265698

gregoden08ParticipantAre a lot of players who don’t have a high skill set on offense who can score though. Favors will be fine. He has excellent hands and is an excellent finisher. The footwork just comes with time. He has excellent mechanics and a great follow through on his jumper so I think he will be just fine developing a consistent mid ranje jumper and being a 70% FT shooter should be pretty easy for him. Also, it’s not always about offense. Just watch him for an entire game (when he’s not in foul trouble). He affects the game in many ways and is a very unselfish teammate and seems very coachable.

- Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 3:20pm #265701
QUINCEYits gonna take him awhile because he has no jumper or confidence in his jumper right now. and every big ban can finish in the nba. and now its not always about offens but you said star and he’s no ben wallace and thats the only star i can think of who’s offense is lacking, i see favors developing at the same time line as josh smith
0- Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 3:24pm #265704

gregoden08ParticipantWell wouldn’t that be pretty good? He’s obviously not as versatile as Josh, but he will be a better rebounder and scorer inside. And dude, Ben Wallace has absolutely no offensive game. Favors will develop into a 15-20 ppg, 10 rpg and 1.5-2 bpg type of guy IMO. Golden State should draft him. He would be a perfect pick for them. Running up and down, finishing and rebounding at a high rate. He could play the center spot as well as pf depending if Biedrens is healthy.

QUINCEYbut if he develops post moves he can be a star because he already has the physcial part down pack
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 3:26pm #265705

gregoden08ParticipantWill he ever develop post moves? Who knows, but I think he will. He just needs to improve footwork (being more calm and patient and not traveling)….I think he’s more NBA ready than a lot of people give him credit for.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 3:28pm #265706

DanEboyParticipantHaynes, you really think Roy was a better freshman than Wall? No way. Roy didn’t really get it going until his jr year. Roy avgd 6pts and 3reb his fr year.
0- Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 3:30pm #265708

gregoden08ParticipantTalking about Turner. Not Wall…

- Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 3:31pm #265709
QUINCEYyou know what greg…you might be right..i think favors has the most potential….but i dont think he will ever reach that full; potential because big men who start out with low post skills usually dont end up with great post skills…i cant think of anyone off the top of my head who has. even howard still has average post skills
and roy wasnt as good as a freshman then wall
0- Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 3:39pm #265713

gregoden08ParticipantNot saying he has to be Tim Duncan in the post, just develop some go to moves. Lets not forget, he’s 18 years old.

- Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 5:11pm #265726

DanEboyParticipantMy bad, I still think Turner has had a better college career than Roy did after their jr seasons.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 6:09pm #265779
WälseParticipantWall has far more potential than Turner…dont get me wrong, Turner is clearly the best player in the country, but as far as potential goes, he’s behind Wall, Favors, & Whiteside even though there’s a very good chance none of those three taps into theirs fully…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 6:11pm #265778
WälseParticipantits Wall…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 7:45pm #265811

BasterdInABasketParticipantI was being just a little sarcastic when i said this was a close call… Turner is a great all around player and the best player in the country this year but John Wall has the tools to be one of the all time greats.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 4:24am #265831

lalailaParticipantactually i’m thinking in other way quincey…Favors is one of that guys who probably will reach full(or near) his potential, only at 18 he is good sized and very athletic, he is already has a little jump hook and with that footwork athleticism and speed he good easily develop into big force in the post because more and more i’m hearing that this kid has very good work ethic and he has improved already, for example yesterday he hit two of two jump shots if i’m not wrong, one over defenders hands and other at the end of the game, i was very rare back in November imo.
my top three is pretty clear but this kid is growing in my eyes and if GSW or Nets will get top3 pick(but not #1) he could go there…

QUINCEYhow many big men who are raw as far as post skills ever reach there full potential?..im still tryna think of one
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 8:37am #265913

IndianaBasketballParticipantBased on the definition of having NBA potential, I guess guys like Favors, Wall and Whiteside do have more “potential” than Turner. That’s not really a knock on Turner. I feel like Turner could still end up being the best player out of this class.
I think potential is overrated anyway. It’s all about age, physical qualities, etc. It doesn’t measure things like work ethic, desire, motor or drive.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 8:51am #265919
QUINCEYagreed..thats why i say yeah favors has more potential but i dont think hes gonna be the better player out of all of them. im with iggy on the wilcox comparision or at best a middle class josh smith
