SkalAndJamalParticipantOld stat. For all those that want to say Kobe isnt a top 5 player of all time… if you are a starting a team and the plan is to win a championship, just common sense to have the guy who leads victories over a 50+ win team than a 50-minus win team.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantplease name the teams years and records.
I don’t think this is a correct stat.
but always up to being proven wrong.

SkalAndJamalParticipantToo much work just use bball reference. But ESPN created this so I would say it’s pretty crediable.

BasketBalAllanParticipantTo be fair Kobe had a Shaq in his prime playing alongside him for around half of those eliminations, so I wouldn’t necessarily say he led all those teams.
But as a person who watched him in loathing for many years, I must say that he was an incredible player.

SkalAndJamalParticipantSo what Lebron had Dwade and Bosh, Bird had Mchale and Parish, Jordan had Pippen and Rodman, Magic had Kareem and Worthy. Kobe had ONE player.

SubZeroParticipantLebron only had them for 3 years. I’m definitely a proponent for Kobe, but I have to defend Lebron a little. He played for an organization who wouldn’t trade JJ Hickson for Amare Stoudamire. His best teammate in 7 years was…….Mo Williams

PulseGlazerParticipantYou are aware that there were fewer playoff rounds AND teams don’t choose who they play, right?

ZachAttackParticipantI bet that Kobe just wanted to end that streak on 24 because it was his number. He’s probably secretly still way better than Lebron and Curry but he just doesn’t want to change that win number. Step 1 complete: Denial

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantInteresting stat. Doesn’t really prove anything but does illustrate the point that over their careers Kobe faced much tougher competition to get to the finals then lebron, who has played his entire career in a relatively weak eastern conference.

SkalAndJamalParticipantThe road the player had to go through is important. You’re more likely to lose if you have to play against 4 very good teams instead of just one good team and 3 bad teams.

I am an idiotParticipantDon’t you mean Shaq had Kobe (and Dwayne and Penny for his other trips to the Finals)?
Other than maybe Magic and Kareem, the Shaq/Kobe combo was arguably the greatest one-two punch ever (all due respects to Pippin)

MatosParticipantListen, Kobe was great. Im not taking anything away from him. But lets not sit here and act like Shaq wasn’t option #1 for the first three championships he gripped up. Shaq was the most dominant in the game during that stretch. The Lakers played in the west which can attribute to that statistic (more 50-win teams).
Im just tired of these statistics trying to insinuate that he was better than MJ. And not comparing Lebron to Kobe (Lebron’s career is far from over and thats unfair to Kobe) but speaking on what has already occured: although Lebron has lost more finals losses, we have to remember that you need your team to be playing up to par to win a championship. On the years that Lebron lost, his team was not playing nearly as well as any of Kobe’s championship winning teams.
