lestweforget23ParticipantIt seems to me that every year, the NBA goes into the draft saying “Next year is the year”…I personally believe that there is talent to be had EVERY year, it’s all about the homework. That being said, who are yal’s 5 names to watch for 2o14?
Andrew Wiggins – This is obviously a big ol’ duh for everyone. 6’8, smooth, athletic, arguably the most highly touted guy since The King himself. Def a good choice to go to Kansas, as I think the Kentucky guys will suffer from too much talent around them.
Marcus Smart – Orlando straight up said they wanted this guy, period. Sure, he’s gotta learn the PG position a little better, but he’s built for the NBA, heck he’s built for the NFL. I’m looking forward to watching him develop…its possible he slides a little, but I still like him going in the top 3.
Mitch McGary – I was of the mindset that he could have gone top 10 this year. There are concerns about his game, but he has been on the radar for quite some time now. 1 of 2 things will happen; He and Glen Robinson will take Michigan deep again this year, or they will fall on their faces and watch their stocks take a hit.
Andrew Harrison – What is there to be said about this kid that hasn’t already been said? He will have ample opportunity to prove that he is a play maker, with NBA talent at every position on Kentucky’s roster. He’s another guy I’ll be watching closely this year, as he has that boom/bust potential.
Noah Vonleh – I’ve liked his potential for quite some time, sure he’s a tweener, but the NBA is headed towards small ball, and he does have some wing potential. Tom Crean has really started making moves over the past few years, and is fresh off having two guys drafted in the top 5
*I did not put Jabari Parker on this list because I fully believe that he will stay multiple years at Duke. When was the last time Coach K had a one and done?
*I left off multiple Kentucky players because there are so many…some of their stocks are going to fall, but one of them most likely goes #1 overall

B EazyParticipantPretty sure Austin Rivers was a one and done a couple years ago…Jabari is next to follow barring anything happening (injury)

rileymcshea3ParticipantI think Jabari Parker will be a one and done. This guy named Kyrie Irving was a one and done at Duke.

Wahoo757ParticipantJustin Anderson. Former #1 overall recruit, fell to a 4 star ranking, struggled a bit to start off his freshman year, but really came on strong down the stretch for UVA. Showcased his potential at the NIT Tournament, in those three games he averaged 19 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 3 blocks, and 1.3 steals, but perhaps most importantly he made 6-11 threes during that stretch. He’s probably one of the best athletes in the nation, and if he can continue to work on his budding skillset, there’s no doubt in my mind that he can be a 1st round pick with his physical profile.

Sewok15ParticipantVonleh seems raw as can be to me. He would be best suited staying 2-3 years like Victor or Cody. I have a special interest in this draft class since the Sixers appear to be in the running for at least a top 5 pick. I will be hoping for #1 overall of course but there are a good amount of potential all stars that will be in the 2014 draft.

PhogifyParticipantI’m not a huge fan of Andrew Harrison, I think Randle and James Young are better prospects coming from Kentucky than the Harrison Twins . I think Andrew will disappoint compared to some of Cal’s former guards like John Wall and Derrick Rose. He lacks athleticism and nothing about his game really stands out to me.

lestweforget23ParticipantI obviously didn’t do my own homework here…Kyrie and Austin were different deals. Kyrie played a total of what, 12 games for Coach K, and was also projected #1 coming out. Austin Rivers wasn’t ready, and it showed this past season…the Pelicans were obviously not convinced, since they just picked up their “point guard of the future”. That being said dually noted to those of you who called me out on that HUGE oversight.

DaManchild34ParticipantI am pretty sure Kyrie Irving Luol Deng and Austin Rivers were all one and done players for Duke. Jabari Parker is gonna be the next one to jet off. He is a guaranteed top 5-10 pick no one in their right mind is passing that opportunity. I know Andrew Wiggins is getting most of the hype at Kansas and deservingly so but I honestly feel Wayne Selden is another freshman to keep an eye on in Lawrence this upcoming season. Feel like he could sneak into the lottery in 2014.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantGary Harris is my favourite college player for next year. He is on the shorter side for a SG but he is strong and a great defender, and he doesn’t turn 19 till December. I really think people are sleeping on him and he’ll end up a top 5 selection.

DaManchild34ParticipantKentucky prospects I keep hearing the hype on the Harrison twins and they definitely have potential (not a big fan of them in the few games I have seen them play) but Julius Randle will be the best pro prospect on that Kentucky team next season bar none. I honestly feel he could jump ahead of Jabari Parker for the number two pick in 2014 and maybe even challenge Andrew Wiggins for the coveted number one spot with a big season down in Lexington.

hoopscopParticipantJabari is a cant miss franchise type and in my book could overtake Wiggins. I say could because I really think he wont be one and done. That what makes him special is his neuropsychological makeup, he will get better and better, he has this sort of drive, determination and tenacity. No he has not the physical attributes as freaks like AW. But he was not healthy and fit since 2 years ago. So he wont have the numbers at Duke but he will knock off the socks with his play. There is a chance he will go on his mormon mission, but what will happen is his buddies Jahlil, Tyus and Justise will join him 2014.

Mr. 19134ParticipantOutside of Wiggins and Parker I’m expecting a huge fresh season from Aaron Gordon at Arizona he’s just been dominate every and anywhere he steps on a court.
Wayne Seldon is being underrated this guy is the real deal and could have a similar fresh year that Marcus Smart just had.
And did you really just say somebody from KY will go #1 next year? Nobody on KY will get drafted over Wiggins trust me and Julius Randle is the best player and prospect on that team.

raybeasParticipantthe improvement from guys on the U20 and World University Games. If Yogi Ferrell can improve his shot and prove he can run a talented team like the WUG team, he can move up quick.

Lotto StudParticipantAdd Wayne Seldon as well to this list. He is physically there right now on top of the ability to play the 2 at 6’5” 225.

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantWayne Selden will be a better pro than a college prospect. He will be overshadowed by Wiggins and drowned out slightly by all the other talent on that team. People are SERIOUSLY sleeping on Embiid. He will go lottery next year.
