valentineWhat can The wizards Bring Back if they trade both players or one only?
Okafor 14 mln $ expires in summer 2014
Ariza 7 mln $ expires in summer 2014Maybe a middle high pick ( between 14 to 24 ) in this year draft?
Some good Veterans?0 - Posted on: Wed, 03/27/2013 - 12:59pm #758097
theprophetParticipantrealistically they should let them both walk. i don’t see anybody wanting twenty mil for those players combined. both salaries are high and they don’t make any good team better. a team that isn’t good wouldn’t have interest. if i’m the wizards though, i would consider to offer them both to the knicks for stoudemire. the only problem is stoudemire has an extra year on his contract which the wizards might not want to deal with, and the knicks might not be interested, being a deep team already. i bet stoudemire could fit better on the wizards next year though and singleton could grow and accept ariza’s role on the team. ariza could help the knicks as a lebron container and okafor can just replace a vet that leaves.

TRC1991ParticipantWashington is in good position with wall and beal in the backcourt, that 20 mil opening up nexxt summer could position themselves mighty nicely in the free agent market

HitsterParticipantOkafor will have good trade value as next season progresses for a team looking for a proven defensive player who they can renew for less. Washington will have some cap space going forward but Wall will be a near max or max renewal and they want to keep Webster, have Nene on a big deal and the other rookies to consider for renewals in due course. So any FA signings would be more complimentary players I would figure.

markpionHi there. Huge Wizards fan here. You can have Okafor, Nene AND Ariza for a 2 if you want. We want to make a run at J-Smoove or Big Al. Also, we need depth vets like Dunleavy and Jack. Hope we get a high pick in the draft, too. Take care. Thanks.

JoeWolf1Okafor is listed as an unrestricted free agent this summer.

HitsterParticipantJoeWolf – Okafor has an ETO (Early Termination Option) for next season according to one respected website, so that may be where you got that info from. But I think we can safely assume he does not turn his back on nearly $14.5 million next season and therefore doesn’t exercise the ETO option.

JoeWolf1Ok, cool. Thanks, I must have missed the ETO

HitsterParticipantDepends which site we look at I suppose, I seem to recall Okafor took a 6 year extension in 2008 so I had always assumed that 2014 was his expiry years but when guys get onto 3rd contracts etc it’s hard to remember who expires when has what options outside of your own team and the top guys.

Mark PionHi there. I say just keep Okafor, Nene and Ariza and try to draft well and sign a free agent vet, or two. We’re not going to lure J-Smoove or Big Al to a losing team, anyways. Okafor’s off the book next year, too, and we need to build through the draft. If we don’t get a top 5 pick, I think McAdoo would be a great later option. Still love Noel, Porter, Muhammad and Bennett for us. Anyhow, we’re in deep stuff that comes from a dog’s posterior. Take care. Thanks.

HitsterParticipantThe Wizards with Wall playing this year are over .500 I think, Beal will improve, if they can get upside out of one or a couple of Vesley, Seraphin or Booker then along with this year’s draft pick that is a good young core going forward. Plus they need Nene to stay fit and play the sort of minutes his contract merits as when he is on form, his game compliments Wall and the rookies nicely.
I’d doubt that J-Smooth would have Washington on his list of likely destinations and for all the good things we hear about Al Jefferson, he has never really helped a team improve plus they have an established big in Nene and would need to move Okafor too.

Mark PionHi there. First of all, my prayers are with Kevin Ware and his family and friends. What the heck was that ?! I nearly yacked. Reminds me of Shaun Livingston’s injury a few years ago. I used to play hockey competitively and plowed into the boards or got hit a few times. We all knew the risks, but loved the game. Poor kid. I know this is not important, but how ’bout a sign-and-trade ? J-Smoove signed and Nene and Ariza shipped out. Thinking out loud. They just have to treat this kid for shock now. Take care. Thanks.

Mark PionHi there. By the way, what the heck is that game still doing on ?! They should have cancelled that piece of dogmeat right after the injury. My two cents. Take care. Thanks.
