Seems as if the Thunder somehow found a way to avoid to stretch Melo which would be bad for the cap for the next three years. While I should be happy that a german player now is on my favorite team, I just can’t feel this way.

Yes, Melo and his immense tax money is gone and like I said, no impact on the cap as dead stretch money but man Schröder really seems to be a ‚difficult personality‘ to say it kindly.

I think, aside from the fact he is going to enter his prime soon and put up decent numbers and could really fascinate the 2nd unit of the Thunder, he  of only could be a Reggie Jackson kind of problem if he has to come off the bench. Not so sure if he is the right person to bring stability to a team and we haven’t talked his attitude off the court yet.

TLC is an interesting player the Thunder just added and I‘m still kind of confused the Thunder added real talent in moving Melo.

If the Schröder deal doesn’t work out, at least he is movable and gives them flexibility even if the payroll still is immense.

I mean, Pop signing Melo would explode heads.

But LeBron might want a friend to round out his big three he and Josh Hart started.

I imagine Melo is going to Houston though I could see Portland going for him.

Y’all think Dennis will be happy coming off the bench? Remember he asked to be traded if the Hawks didn’t start him.

Might not have to come off the bench. Having to gameplan for Dennis Schroeder and Russell Westbrook taking turns using pick and rolls with Steven Adams and Paul George running off screens could end up being deadly. Not very many teams have two guys that can even attempt to gaurd such quick and aggressive gaurds.

Then youve got two glue guys Roberson and Grant, two shooters Albrines and Ferguson, a veteran second/third gaurd Felton and a backup C Noel. This team is built fairly well and the pieces fit alot better then when Melo was here cloggin things up.

OKC could get a home seed this year.

I was thinking the same thing. People now try to act like if you can’t shoot a jumper that you are completely useless. I even hear that until Ben Simmons gets a jump shot he won’t be very good. Huh???? He’s already very good and will be a superstar with or without a jumper. It relates to Shroeder because he doesn’t have a j at all, but he is super quick and finishes at the rim pretty easily.

He averaged about 19 last year at age 24 and they act like since he can’t shoot, he shouldn’t even be in the league. I’d rather have Russell at the 2 because despite the numbers that he puts up, he makes terrible decisions at the end of the game. I’d rather someone else do the deciding at the end of game and Schroeder makes bad decisions too, but I’ve never seen anything like Russell at the end of games.

They would be super hard to guard and to keep out of the lane along with having George. Why have him on the bench when you could move Russell to the 2 and George plays the 3. If anything, it’s a serious talent upgrade over Roberson to at least try out.

      PG-Schroeder, Felton
      SG-Westbrook, Ferguson, Albrines
      SF-George, Roberson
      PF-Grant, Patterson, Singler
      C-Adams, Noel

Pick and roll madness! Well done OKC.

I didn’t know they got nerlens noel.  I must have missed that one.  2 years on minimum salary is good for any team.

Whats happening with Corey Brewer ?

The 76ers quietly made a good deal here. They had 16 guys under contract and needed another big man with Bjelica backing out of his deal. Trading Luwawu Cabbarot and Justin Anderson essentially for Mike Muscala likely sets the 76ers roster for next season.

Dennis finished 7th in creating assisting or scoring 17 pts a game off pick & roll last season. Westbrook was 5th at 19 a game.

So to put it this way:

    Melo

We moved a player that was going to hit us big time in the Luxary tax bill pocket meaning even less flexibility. Plus there was not exactly many suitors for him give me Denis S over Ryan Anderson any day.

We Moved a player that wasn’t fully going to commit to his role. See exit interview.

Was not really playable come playoff time-See Melo strapped to the bench when we came back from 25 points down vs Jazz to what I mean.

    In regards to Dennis S:

He has played 6th man in Atlanta on a legit contender(when they were getting 1 seed out east) and didn’t really make to much fuss until he believed he had out played Jeff t, I don’t see him kicking up to much of a stink as Westbrook can say well you don’t have an MVP to your name so sit down…

Denis is on a cheaper deal than both Kanter and Melo were which is better for our overall flex/ability to make more moves.

He will help our dreadfull bench scoring out.-10 points from J.G and Felton..Imagine telling him from the start of the year we will help you win 6th man of the year just believe in our system/Team.

If he misses time due to Felony issue(usually games are missed due to suspension) we save even more cap.

Denis may help our bench play with more speed than Felton is able to and may allow Felton,Nerlens and Ferguson to get easier looks.

This works for both sides though: Hawks wanted to move Denis which there was no takers like DMC with Kings and Melo wasn’t going to work longterm for us either so we got something either as an asset or valuable player vs having dead cash sitting on the books which we can do nothing with.

Depends on who offers the biggest role and has deepest team…

    Biggest role:

Houston-But they need to get Capela back otherwise their defense will drop right off a cliff…As they have already lost two of their key defensive players in Ariza and Luc B moute.

Lakers-would most likely put him on the bench due to youth and better defense from them than Melo brings.

Heat-Could start but Spo may force him to the bench if he can’t get in great shape and play some form of defense…

Portland: Would start their but would he really want to go there as they may not be either an ideal city or enough of a contender for Melo.

Spurs: With Kawhi gone Pop could try convince Melo to come start for him.

Warriors if they wanted to troll everyone legitimately.. I could see this happening for the lols/to troll OKC and so Melo finally gets his ring.

and there still wouldn’t be enough shots for Lillard, McCollum and Melo together.

I really don’t see how schroder helps okc unless they are planning to play Westbrook off the ball more (good luck with that). They will get destroyed defensively against good backcourts if they play both together. You know Westbrook is going to play 32-35 mins a night at least, so if schroder is going to be strictly a backup he is a very expensive one. Plus, he has grown accustomed to playing a major role with the ball in his hands so to ask him to take a step back now could be problematic. It does technically save them money over using the stretch on melo and getting nothing for him. But if schroder doesn’t work and proves to be disruptive, his contract might not be easy to move. I guess the line of thinking is that it’s better to get something for melo than just let him go for nothing though.

Schroder to Orlando for Simmons or Fournier would work for both

Houston seems logical fit for Melo plus he’d start and under that system put up good numbers.

Portland is interesting one but might Melo look for a bigger stage.

The Lakers could be of interest but would be accept bench on a team which might not really contend even with LBJ

Spurs might seem unlikely but Melo has always been effective for Team USA and Popps knows him from there. Plus could Popps perhaps find the ideal role for Melo going forward.

Miami has a nice climate and taxes but can they contend would be more a nice final stop if you have a title.

GSW are the best team in the league and if Melo accepted a bench role, it might be here. If he wants a title, why not go all in here for a year and if he wins he can have a free run to go elsewhere in 2019
