Hi its BenParticipantCredit is due to the USA Womens World Cup team. I dont know how many of you might have watched the game or even the highlights but the resiliency they showed during the game was extremely awesome to watch.
They deserved to win that game and deserve to be shown some love on any cite that deals with sports as this was one of the best games I’ve ever seen. Just thought this needed to be said. Here’s an article on ESPN and some video about the game if none of you saw it or heard about it.

BlueLacesParticipantI have never been as invested in a woman’s sporting event as I was today watching that game.

aamir543ParticipantI left after Marta made that crazy goal. Brazil is extremely talented, they just don’t put in as much in conditioning as the US.

aamir543ParticipantIt’s soccer, all the injuries are faked. But the refs were absolutely horrendus. They make Bennet Salvatore seem fair.

drk3351Participantyeah in this game the refs sucked. They almost cost USA the game, probably 4 game changing calls they messed up.

ghrghrParticipantI’m brazilian and of course I wanted Brazil to win it, but the US deserved the win more. Both brazilian goals were because of mistakes from the referee, in the first the ref made the wrong call, because she said the keeper(who by the way is pretty hot) took a step forward, which wasn’t the case and in the second it was offside.
I don’t know why, but Brazil always chokes in the end… Just before the second US goal Brazil had a great chance, with a shot right in front of goal, but the player missed it.
As for the fake injury, it is common practice in soccer to do that to gain a bit of time, but it actually cost us the game, because the goal was scored in the extra added time because of the stoppage.

aamir543ParticipantIt’s actually interesting. I was going to just watch for a couple seconds, but then Marta got the ball into the box, and lobbed the ball over her defenders, got to it herself, but just as she slid to shot the ball, a US defender did the same, and she got a red, leading to a penalty. If you ask me, forget about a red card, that slide was barely worth a yellow. Then Hope Solo made an incredible save which reminded me of my soccer days, when I played goalie. But then the retarded refs said she was off her line before the goal was kicked. That was a terrible call, because you can move laterally, and she was on her line the whole time. Then Marta took the kick the second time and drilled it. The US surprisingly made it to extra time, where Marta made an incredible goal. There was no way Solo would have been able to get there. Then I thought it was over and left. Then I heard Wambach made a last second goal in extra time to send it to penalties, and it’s history from there.

OnionsParticipantIntertaining as fuck. Nothing drags a sports fan into a game more than making the USA vs. the world.
Admittedly I like soccer, but it’s the main reason why people bandwaggoned on the USA men’s during the world cup, why so many watch the finals of the LLWS, and what not.
Hope Solo was badass. Pretty hot as well.

bobbybParticipantI actually hate the "one name" that the Brazilians use. I think it is kinda arrogant. It should be reserved only for top level tanlet to give yourself one name. "Magic", "Ali", the "Babe", Kareem.

ghrghrParticipant^^ That’s just how it is in Brazil. In all team sports most players are known only by their first names or nicknames.
Of the brazilian players in the NBA, only Tiago Splitter is known by his full name. Nene is just Nene and Leandro Barbosa is known in Brazil as Leandrinho. Oscar Schmidt, the brazilian all-time great is known as just Oscar. In soccer it’s the same thing. Ronaldo, Pelé, Marta and so on.
Being called by your full name is seen by some as being a bit cocky, especially when you have a long name.
