I think golden state and philly. We already know about philly but Biedrins is just ok no and when healthy he’s a rebounder and shot blocker but nothing special. they could use an upgrade at center and they could keep biedrins around with whiteside as he develops. what other teams could use him?

I say Detroit…Big Ben is getting old and I am sure this is his last year and surely they don’t want Kwame Brown being the starting center. I believe he is the type of guy the pistons are looking for.

whiteside is practically biedrins just more athletic…. he doesnt have any post moves ,he doesnt have real nba center body and he should stay another year or 2 in college if he wants to have real impact in nba..

I also think that Detroit would be the ideal place for Whiteside. Big Ben is getting old and Hassan figures into the type of guy that Detroit is looking for. A 7 footer that can alter the game on his own because of his defensive prowless. He can easily come to Detroit and play starter minutes that be.

Will he even enter the draft? Why are even talking about him in the NBA if he is not enter the draft until 2011. According to this site that is when he will enter. Is he really a one and done person, even with his hard work ethic. I like his game, but I just don’t see him entering the draft.

He fits best for the 76ers. He would be a good player to eventually step in for Samuel Dalembert, as Dalembert is probably the biggest weakness in our starting lineup (even though he’s playing better this season…but it’s fool’s gold). He would provide a level of talent offensively (with time) that Philly hasn’t had in a super long time. He would at least provide what Dalembert does, but with about 12 or 13 points.

I wouldnt worry about Whiteside’s body. He’s already packed on 20+ lbs of muscle in one year. Not only that, he’s already good decent body strength, and as I’ve said before, he’s got great lineage with his dad being a NFL DE. He’s a Greg Oden type, a great NBA body with quickness, agility and coordination, and ridiculous defensive instincts. 5 blocks a game is so undeniably impressive that any team that wants any kind of defensive stopper will take this kid. True post defenders that can guard both straight up and weakside are the rarest kind of player in the NBA. Oden (when healthy), Howard, Duncan, and Perkins, and increasingly Marc Gasol and Andrew Bynum are the only players in the league with this kind of impact, and its invaluable. His skillset is so coveted by NBA scouts it will guarantee him a top 5 selection whenever he decides to leave. If he stays one more year, gains 10-15 lbs of muscle, and shows ANY form of offensive improvement, he’s got a shot a #1 overall.

If Whiteside goes pro and somehow ends up in the lottery, the best fit would be a team that doesn’t need him to produce for 2-3 years. I don’t see how with so many really bad teams in the lottery that someone would take a player to sit and develop. The best candidate would be Houston. Put him behind Yao and David Andersen for a couple years and see what happens. Oklahoma City already has Mullens and Ibaka on the big and bad development plan. The Clippers are trying to work with DeAndre Jordan, and he has more potential than Whiteside. Utah isn’t going to waste a lottery pick on a guy who can’t help them right away as they are a playoff contender in a small market who needs production from its picks. Milwaukee won’t mess around with a project center when they are already going to pay $18 million to Bogut and Gadzuric. Sacramento doesn’t really have much history taking guys with limited offensive games. I can’t see them starting now, though I do think all things being equal they will go big to help out Thompson and Hawes. Larry Bird’s draft record indicates he has little interest in young players who aren’t developed. At that point, you are starting to get into top six picks. I have to believe he’d be behind -at least- Aldrich, Cousins, Monroe, and Favors as far as big men capable of playing the center spot are concerned. I suppose when Minnesota comes around for its second and maybe third first in the middle of the first that they would have to at least consider him as they cannot dismiss anyone who could potentially help their interior defense.

I agree with detroit. If hassan can come in and play defence, block shots, and rebound he would make up for charlie v.’s lack of the afformentioned.

I think Philadelphia would be a terrible fit unless they somehow Arenas-style dump Brand’s contract. Brand will continue to play as long as the 6ers are playing that much for him. And Marreese Speights needs more playing time, so he can get that at center.

The best team for Whiteside would be either Detroit or Utah. Detroit might be the place where he has the biggest impact right away, but Utah would be the place where he could push a team to being a true contender. They desperately need a competent center who compliments and can eventually take over for Okur.

Granted, the Jazz could also use a swingman, which makes it nice that they have two top-20 picks. Nice work, Knicks.

I think he would need to play on a team with another established big man. I think he isn’t ready to pull the bulk of anyone’s minutes at center next season. In addition he would be a nice defensive compliment next to a high scoring power forward kind of the way Greg Ostertag was to Karl Malone or Diop and Dampier were to Dirk, or Chandler next to David West. Now, I think Whitside will most likely be a better player than Ostertag and Diop, I was just using them as examples. That being said, Whiteside next to Boozer of Millsap (depending on offseason moves) in Utah would be a good fit. Okur is an established guy and they would have a nice inside outside combination at center., as would Oklahoma City next to Green and Durant at the two forwards. He wouldn’t be expected to score much and Ibaka could split minutes with him. That would make OKC a little one dimensional at their center position unless Kristic was still around, but when you have Durant dropping 30 a night, you wouldn’t need much offense.

id love him in detroit but i think id almost rather have demarcus cousins cause if whiteside enters hes not slipping that far….. plus cousins seems like hes giving a lot of effort recently…. especially around the boards.

Thats the thing though, just because Detroit has the 8th worst record doesn’t mean they are going to get the 8th pick. The lottery is crazy, Orlando got the 1st pick in 93 when they drafted Chris Webber and traded him for Penny and they were the best team in the lottery and should have gotten the last pick in the lotto if it went strictly be record.

Talking from a fan’s perspective, if Detroit take Whiteside this year, Dumars will be assured of losing his job. The Pistons don’t need a project at center. The need someone who is proven, like an Aldrich or a Monroe. Hell, Cousins would be better than Whiteside. But if he comes back next year, develops a more potent offensive game, and bulk up to the 250-260 lbs. range, then surely taking Whiteside in the early-mid lottery would be genius

I highly doubt the utah jazz will have 2 top 20 picks! i think the jazz will select monroe with the knicks pick. They have a protected pick with minny, I think top 17 protected. If you think the Jazz won’t make the playoffs you are crazy man.

I don’t think Golden State would be a good place for Whiteside. My reasoning is they already have a couple skinny "high upside" low post players in Brandan Wright & Anthony Randolph.  The Warriors need a physcial presence in the post who can contribute immediately..somebody like Aldrich or Cousins.

I take that back Cousins & Coach Nelson would be disaster hahaha.
