Dale WorthingtonParticipant"The magazine said it spoke with more than 12 players and staff members from UCLA’s past four teams for the report. It cited numerous anonymous former players and other sources associated with the program alleging widespread fighting amongst teammates, players intentionally injuring others during practice, drinking and smoking marijuana before practices and using Ecstasy at off-campus parties."
"Guys drinking, guys doing drugs, guys not taking practice seriously, guys fighting … You won’t find that on the Pyramid of Success," one player said, according to the report, referencing the philosophy embraced by late UCLA coaching great John Wooden."
Coach Howland,
COME ON MAYNE!

Dale WorthingtonParticipantDrug use before practice is inexcusable, but intentionally injuring your teammates. Wow, it doesn’t get any worse than that.

DolanCareParticipantI always thought that UCLA players were reluctant to play for Howland because of his system. Individual statistics don’t really shine through the howland style….. but it turns out that he just runs an awful program.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThey should get to party like college kids, but taking any thing too far is always a bad look…
I hope one of my favorite College Teams gets back to being a Top Team in The Country, because when UCLA is good it’s as good for college ball as the Duke and UNC rivalty, Best East Exellence, The Kentucky NBA Wildcats, Jim Calhoun being a complete Douche and the NCAA tournament…
I know this is all going to fall back on Reeves Nelson, who I still have in my mock and 2k Share Draft Class…which I should edit for the 100th time…any suggestions???

HaleParticipantI think some of that stuff is fairly common, but intentionally injuring your teammates? What?

Chilbert arenasParticipantAnd people thought Nelson could have been a first round pick? Hhaha. To be fair it’s not that uncommon and in LA there are many distractions that are easy to fall into especially when you’re reguarded as royalty playing for UCLA during its height.

Ghost01ParticipantI’m not too upset about the partying, and even smoking before practice eventhough thats bad, it’s not the worst thing in the world. But INTENTIONALLY INJURING TEAMMATES?? WTF…

BiggysmallsParticipantTrue dat Future scout. Only the strong survive eh?? no but seriously though, this is insane. Is this going to cost Howland his job? Cuz I can imagine there would be quite a few coaches interested in UCLA. Theyve been down for a couple years now, last year I thought they couldve gotten to the elite 8 and if Honeycut and Lee wouldve stayed along with Nelson not being a total tool they couldve been a top 10 team this year.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI wonder if this effects Shabazz’s decision…?

NiceWithTheRockParticipantWow this is crazy! I wonder if the decommits start coming in. I don’t know all the players they are/were getting next year, but i know kyle anderson commited.
And also, extacy? Are they serious? I would never in my life pop x

BleedingBlueParticipantAnd now we know what a wise decision Dominic Artis made in decommitting from UCLA
