TarHeelRavenParticipantNorth Carolina will not seek reinstetement for PJ, ending his North Carolina basketball career. I’m dissappointed obviously, along with every other UNC basketball fan in the country, but it’s nice to know that the Tar Heels can move on from this unfortunate incident. It’s a shame because I think PJ could’ve had an all-american type season if he had played this year. I think ultimately UNC made the right decision by not allowing PJ back on the team. I am a big believer in actions leading to consequences and Hairston’s actions over the summer proved he was not committed to being a student athlete and was selfish and din’t care about anyone but himself. I wanted him back badly, but knew in the back of my mind that he didn’t deserve to be a part of our team. Who knows if a team will take a chance drafting him in the first round next year, and it is doubtfull he will be drafted at all.

qDizzle32ParticipantSad news for UNC. I was expecting a huge breakout year from him after how good he looked in the ACC Tournament last year. What a waste of talent. I hope he transfers to another school but he seems like the type of guy who would go pro anyway.

KHAM83ParticipantWhat is his game like? Would you compare him to any nba player?

surveParticipantits hard to peg who he actually plays like because he is a very imbalanced player. I always likened him to Nick Anderson in some aspects.
Pros:
he is a big strong 2 guard who has excellent leaping ability and can finish at the rim. his best trait is he has parking lot range. he is a catch and shoot guy who can heat up quickly. due to his vertical and quick release he can get his shot off. moves well without the ball. he is a good rebounder. he plays solid team defense. would be a lethal off the bench scorer in the NBA and solid defender on the right team.
Cons:
not much lateral quickness. will struggle in iso defense. he is not an explosive athlete nor does he incorporate athleticism in his game. his lack of explosiveness and handle makes it difficult for him to create his shot.
looks to be more of a specialist in the league

mike_r232ParticipantDoes anyone think that he might drop out and start focusing on his game until the draft?

qDizzle32ParticipantEven though that’s not the best route for him, he sounds like the type of player who would do that. Talent wise, he definitely has the talents to be a 1st round pick. Because of all the off court tribulations he’s been involved with this past year, he probably will be a 2nd rounder if he does drop to focus on his professional career.

mike_r232ParticipantI wouldn’t be shocked if we see an announcement very soon that he will not return to school next semester and will start working on his game. There are some options for him out there. It’ll be interesting to see what route he chooses. He certainly has the talent, but his decisions will turn away a few teams.

kazamParticipantGoing to the D-League for Glen Rice Jr seemed to give him a reality check and he got his act together and ended up getting drafted this past June. Maybe the same can happen for Hairston. Hoping the best for him.

qDizzle32ParticipantI’m not sure if the D-League would allow college players to join their league during the season. If so, that would be the smartest choice for him if he’s allowed to do so since he would be playing with the NBA’s rules and playing with and against players who are and have been in the NBA. Plus scouts wouldn’t have to travel overseas to watch him. He won’t be allowed to get called up since the rule is you had to already participate in an NBA Draft in order to get called up that year but that still makes it easier for NBA teams to scout him. If not, he should sign with a team in Europe so he wouldn’t have to sit out a whole year before going pro, if he chooses to go that route rather than to transfer. We should be hearing if he will transfer or declare within this next week.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantIs anybody really shocked by this decision after what unfolded this summer? I think the most telling thing that happened was when he was cleared of all charges, he posted a picture on twitter of himself winking. I don’t know what goes on at the Dean Dome or what goes on in practices/on campus, but based on that it sounds to me like he didn’t really grow up at all over all this BS. For his sake, hopefully this is a wake up call for him, because I don’t think anyone in the NBA would be willing to take him on at this point, barring a Glen Rice Jr. style turnaround.
