The thing that stood out to me is the 1 offensive rebound the ENTIRE spurs team got. That’s ridiculous. You’re an NBA team.

Kobe sat out his third straight game today with Tenosynovitis in his left shin. They were playing the Spurs who came into the day just one off the Western Conference lead, after falling to the Jazz on Monday while resting their three vets. OKC lost, so they were able to keep pace, and although the Spurs have a 4.5 game lead on the Lakers, the two play 2 more times before the season ends, and so that gap could close, but the Spurs should be able to take care of their buisness.

The bigger story today is how Kobe’s teamates took care of things today. Ron had 26 today off 10-15 from the field and 5-8 from three, Pau had 21 and 11, but did it on 9-24 shooting, Bynum had 16 points on 7-20 shooting, but get this he had 30 rebounds, 8 of them offensive. He had half of his teams rebounds, total and offensive, and the entire Spurs team had just 33 boards, just three more than Bynum himself. Barnes came off the bench and had 13 and hit 3 threes, Blake had 10 and hit two threes.

One thing I notice when I look at box scores, is that at this point in the season It’s an 8 man rotation for most teams, but when I look at the Spurs’ I swear it’s a 11 man rotation, and Gary Neal was out, and coach Pop still had 11 guys playing 15+ minutes. The reason today was probably that the game was 15 or so in the forth(the Lakers sealed it or at least made it double digits in the third) and he rested his starters, but you have to think that this rest will be valuable to them later on. Two players on the Lakers played 40 mintues, three 37+, while not one Spurs player played more than 27. One bright spot in this loss for the Spurs was that Danny Green had 22 and was 5-6 from three.

the lakers play the spurs three times in two weeks so well get a good idea going into the playoffs where those two teams stand.

But ron has been playing fantastic for about 3 weeks now. I now expect him to make threes when he takes them and finish around the paint. His confidence is back and hes playing aggresively and well.

I missed the game but it looks like we kept their point guards in check which is a rarity for Lakers. TP 2-12fg Patty Mills 3-11fg…

I think Ron is starting to round himself into shape and the increased minutes and shots are helping his rhythm.  Lakers will be a scary team come playoff and would probably be favorites if they did not give up Odom.  I still think they could have gotten Sessions without giving up the pick the got from trading Odom.

Lakers can be a scary team if Ron stays on fire and Kobe comes back refreshed.  There is no team in the west that is really a bad matchup for them now since Chandler is not in Dallas and also Dallas lost Stevenson who used to play Kobe tough.  Bynum is playing more confident yet erractic.  Gasol is playing a lot better since he was not traded.  With Miami struggling, Laker could sneak in an win Kobe his 6th championship.  I do hope when it is all said and done that Kobe has at least 6 rings with possibly a 7th later in his carreer.
