Nick Calathes will be suspended 20 games for a violation of the NBA’s Anti-Drug policy.

    The suspension will begin immediately.

A source says Calathes tested positive for Tamoxifen, which was part of an over-the-counter athletic supplement he had used.

The NBA’s lab results showed no traces of testosterone or PED in the supplement.

“There was no intent here,” said a league source.

David Joerger and the Memphis Grizzlies will be without Calathes in the playoffs.

well, the players are always be taught about whats legal or not. if he didnt know,he could’ve easily gotten it checked out by the team.

he should’ve known better. 20 games seems like abit much, but gotta be smarter.

    i just looked the supp:

Tamoxifen is the most commonly used hormone therapy for the treatment of breast cancer.

Many women have breast cancer that tests positive for estrogen receptors (ER+). This means that estrogen promotes the growth of the breast cancer cells. Tamoxifen blocks the effects of estrogen on these cells. It is often called an "anti-estrogen."

Tamoxifen slows or stops the growth of cancer cells that are already present in the body. It helps keep the original breast cancer from coming back and helps prevent new cancer in the opposite breast. It also reduces the risk of breast cancer in women who have a high risk for this disease.

    LMFAO.

If further tests show that Tamoxifen is in Rogaine then Calathes should get a pass. The few remaining hair follicles on top of his head are fighting for their life.

We had to assume his emergence out of no where to be a decent player was only a direct result of him trying to avoid getting breasts.

Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) is typically used for a Post Cycle Therapy for Steroid Cycles…its an aromatizing inhibitor that is normally taken right after using steroids to prevent Man Boobs and Estrogen Development.

no reason for Calathes to be taking Nolvadex unless he was juicing.

20 games is a bit long for an over-the-counter supplement.

Hell no its not, send  a message.  I used to enjoy baseball until I found out they were all cheating.  I would hate to see the same happen to the NBA. I love it too much.  They could boot Calathes out for all I care…. Nobody will miss him.

I know from experience of playing in NCAA for baseball how these things work. He could’ve easily asked his trainer if the supplement he was taking was legal. Additionally, it’s obvious that this hormone he was taking was a masking agent after a steroid cycle basically to level his hormones back to equilibrium. This supplement is banned most definitely because it masks the drug use prior to its’ use so a 20 game suspension is well deserved and this causes a concern for me and the possibility that steroid use in the NBA might actually be at least a minor problem.
