One source close to the process said Odom, in that scenario, would likely favor a return to the Heat, which would be a strong statement by Miami management to 2010 free agent-to-be Dwyane Wade. The Heat could theoretically sign Odom, trade for Utah’s Carlos Boozer and then re-sign Boozer in the summer of 2010 without needing salary-cap space because Miami would own Boozer’s Bird rights. Those moves would set Wade up to be flanked by two quality forwards and almost certainly enhance the Heat’s chances of convincing their star to stay. Wow..Wade,Odom, Boozer, Beasley…that could cause some trouble in the East.

Detroit, Utah, Cleveland, Charlotte, Dallas, and New Orleans also covet Big Baby. The Pistons recently dealt two players to Denver to clear salary cap space and are trying to make another medium deal to gain more money to sign Davis to an offer sheet, according to an NBA source. Detroit and New Orleans might have to work out a sign and trade to make such a deal for Davis happen. Davis averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds as a starter in the postseason and knocked down a game-winning buzzer beating jumper against Orlando in Game 4. Davis, 23, is working out in Houston and said he has been losing weight doing martial arts and pushing his shooting stroke to 3-point range. Out of all those teams I would like Big Baby to go to Charlotte or New Orleans.

As we said in a previous blog (and as Starberman reported in today’s Post), the Carlos Boozer situation will be monitored by the Knicks. Are they legit players? Not quite. Up to the Jazz to see what they’d want off the Knicks’ roster (not named Chandler, Gallo, Hill or Douglas, of course). Would they consider Nate Robinson? Obviously to match Boozer’s salary, it’ll take another contract to go with it (Cuttino Mobley?).

The Pistons have a jam at SF & SG. Prince &or Rip need to be traded. Detroit has to find better size in the post. Obviously they should consider Tyson Chandler. What about a trade with Philly. Pistons get: Dalembert & a 2nd rounder pick 76ers get: Rip & Kwame

Indiana needs to trade Troy Murphy & let Hansbrough start. Trade Murphy for a solid PG now that Jack is gone.

The Bucks are terrible right now. IMO they should just let Sessions go & sign a PF instead. Right now Milwaukees’ best PF is Amir Johnson, haha that is not a good thing. They need to sign David Lee.

I came up with this awesome trade IMO ha.
Bulls get: TMac, Dorsey, Lowry
Rockets get: Hinirich, Deng, Tim Thomas

Golden State has some good trade pieces. I’m not sure why they aren’t making any deals. It seems they should trade Maggette &or Jackson. Belinelli can go too. Either way the Warriors are headed to the playoffs this year no doubt. The same thing can be said for the Blazers…they really need to make some trades. I mean Webster, Outlaw, Blake, Fernandez, & Bayless…a couple of these guys need to go.

In no way should the Pacers trade Murphy and let Hansbrough start! Murphy is overpaid and is not a banger, but he’s one of the best rebounders in the NBA and shoots the trey ball extremely well. I don’t feel comfortable with him being traded at this point.

Some interesting stuff, but yeah I wouldn’t trade Troy Murphy. Also I would by no means call Corey Maggette a good trading piece, the guy has 4 years 40 million left on a contract, and no one wants a guy who gets you 2 rebounds and 2 assists a game, while driving the lane with his head down waiting to get to the free throw line. Do like the David Lee to Milwaukee idea though.

it is clear that the bucks are not going to be a real good team for a couple of season so instead of probably overpay for d. lee i think they should be looking to move out m. redd and that heavy contract(one of the worst in the game) for expiring contracts, young talent and/or draft picks and allow for bogut/jennings take the team in a new direction.

the knicks roster is so slim that they are not going to make any move for any players of note this season and are better off waiting til the season is done and making the mistake of overpaying for a c. boozer.

is it only me or when did big baby become such a big deal that ppl/teams are attaching big money to a career back up player… do we all not remember austin croshere and his one magical playoff performance in the late 90’s that got him a big pay day and the nothingness his career became after that!

That 76ers Pistons trade would be good for us. I also think that The Blazers need to trade some of their players, especially Outlaw and Bayless for a PG and SF.

If the Pacers could get a good PG in return for Murphy then I would trade him. Hansbrough is a descent starter even as a rookie. The Pacers aren’t going to make any noise this year anyways.

Yeah Blazers need to trade for a PG definitely and they obviously have the trade pieces to get a deal done.

I agree I think the Knicks should just wait until 2010 to sign any big free agents. Boozer would be by far my least favorite choice for the Knicks among Bosh, Amare, & Dirk.

I think Big Baby is a legit starting PF in the nba. I wouldn’t pay him a ton of money but I would offer him about 4 to 5 million a year for sure. Averaging 16pts & 6rebs as a starter in the playoffs is impressive. Plus he is going to get even better.

I like the idea of the Bucks trading Redd too. I still think signing Lee would be a great move. A core of Jennings, Meeks, Lee, & Bogut would be great to build around. Lee is certainly an upgrade over Amir &or Moute.

if they did trade for Boozer wouldnt the primary piece be Beasley, signing Odom makes him expendable

I don’t know.. I think the Heat would try to trade somebody else. The Jazz don’t have to get a good player in return..they just want to save cash. A 3rd team may have to get involved.

I think they would get rid of Cook and Haslem if they were to trade with Utah
