    They just signed Travis Outlaw to a 5 yr. 35 mil. contract. WOW. They crush any chance, if they had any, for Travis Outlaw. And overpay for him. They also could have waited to make an offer to Gay, at least he would have been a legit wing presence and starter for them. But at least make sure you will absolutely not get LeBron first by either him picking a different team later or him telling them their out of the running.

    yea bro!, gay resigned, outlaw is still a good player regardless, but at this pt. it doesnt really matter, james most likely signing with heat, cavs, or knicks

    I didn’t know because I went away for a week with no tv or internet but anyways the nets still took themselves out of the biggest FA sweepstakes ever, even if they had little chance.

    It would have made more sense to go after Ronnie Brewer with that kind of money. Brewer can be a lockdown defender and play the swingman posiiton for them and he’s a year younger than Outlaw to boot.

    Big mistake for an organization that has played their cards so well recently. 7 million a year for Outlaw? Any Portland fan will realize what a waste that is.

    That money could have gone after pursuing Carmelo next off season…

    Glad he got his deal, I never thought he would amount to much more than being Darius Miles, but he has proven me wrong consistently. The Clippers were not a great fit, but New Jersey just got themselves a guy who will more than likely start at the 3 for them. Travis has developed a decent mid range game, can shoot the 3 at a decent clip, and he easily has a 40 inch vert. I do feel that 7 million is a lot, but they have an owner willing to spend some money and they also have the cap room to make them a more complete basketball team. With T-Will, Damion James and Travis, they are looking a lot better on the wing than they were last year. Outlaw will be a nice player for them next year, and as much money as they spent on him, it is the price you have to pay to win more than 12 games.

    last year when he came to the Clippers..A chucker who can look lost at times…Anything over 5 million a year is too much to give him

    all along they said they wouldn’t overpay for FAs….wtf is this? 7 mill for outlaw? seems like an extreme overpay for him, just a younger more athletic bobby simmons…sad sad sad sad day for nets fans…i hope we can atleast get david lee out of this miserable offseason because we are at no more than 32 wins right now….and thats optimistic

    @LazarusMunoz

    Outlaw was coming off of a broken foot and hadn’t played all season, so you have to expect a little rust.

    The Nets must’ve made this move knowing they’re out of the LeBron race.

    $35 million over 5 years isn’t overpaying for Travis Outlaw. The last year will probably have a team option. I think it’s a good pickup for the Nets.

    Simmons is more of a chucker from three-point range… Outlaw can shoot the three, one or two dribble pull up from mid-range or take it to the basket and finish.

    You can say Outlaw is overpaid, but Simmons isn’t a good comparison.

    They had enough for 2 stars…why are they sooo cap conscience …IMO they still a enough for Lebron and could still over pay for Lee…
