mikeyvthedonParticipantDolph Schayes was known as one of the original big men who would stay in constant motion, as opposed to planting himself in the post. A pioneer to the "stretch" big. He was a 12-time NBA All-Star, led the league in rebounding in 1951, while making the All-NBA 1st and 2nd Team 6 times apiece. He also won an NBA title in 1955 with the Syracuse Nationals and held the streak for most consecutive NBA games with 996 in a row, until it was later broken by AC Green. On top of this, he was named to both the NBA’s 25th Anniversary team and the NBA at 50.
Another cool little fact is that he and his son, Danny Schayes, were the highest scoring father-son duo in NBA history for quite a while. Kobe Bryant has surpassed their point total by himself, so it seems that Jellybean Joe and Kobe hold that record currently. Right now, here are the top father-son point totals:
1. Joe and Kobe Bryant: 38,037
2. Dolph and Danny Schayes: 27,218
3. Rick and Brent Barry: 26,883 (Rick played 4 of his prime seasons in the ABA, where he scored 6,884 in that time, which nonetheless does not get added to his "official" NBA total)
4. Patrick Ewing and Patrick Ewing Jr.: 24, 818 (All but 3 of those were Pat Sr., but still takes into account that his younger son garnered a few games under his belt)
5. Jimmy Walker and Jalen Rose: 24,875
6. Dell and Stephen Curry: 22,125
7. Henry and Mike Bibby: 20,473
8. John and David Stockton: 19,719 (with all but 8 of those being John’s)
9. Mychal and Klay Thompson: 18,551
10. Glen Rice and Glen Rice Jr.: 18,379 (Jr. has 43 thus far)
11. Tim Hardaway and Tim Hardaway Jr.: 17,011
12. Larry Nance and Larry Nance Jr.: 15,755 (Nance Jr. has 68, not a bad start considering)
13. Gerald and Damien Wilkins: 15,307
14. Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson and Glenn "GR3" Robinson III: 14,367
15. Ed and Danny Manning: 13,785
I think that is the list as of right now, though it might very well change with Wesley Matthews and Gerald Henderson still active. Bob and Danny Ferry are just on the outside looking in as well. Jerami and Jerian Grant could certainly both have productive careers to join the list with Harvey, as well. Plus, we know that Stephen and Klay will be moving up with their fathers through the list.
Wanted to give my condolences to the Schayes family and my praises to this NBA legend. He was one of the first stars of the league, a model of toughness and competitive spirit that contributed to the game we love. Rest in Peace, Dolph.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantI met him as a kid at one of his sons Basketball camps, (I didnt know how good he was until later)
He was messing areound with a group of us, trying to bounce a ball into the basket, it was a silly thing, but something I will always remember.

Memphis MadnessParticipantWhat about the Barry Family totals? They still have Canyon in the can, too, right?
How about Dell, Steph, AND Seth?
Gonna throw a party when Steph breaks the Jellybean/Kobe record.
Mychal and Klay are fairing pretty well, too. Solid all around duo. I think Mychal was a top pick, had a good career, and a ring or two with the Lakers. Klay had a great year last year and has had his moments this year.
Shaq’s got that big kid in high school. Does Shaq have 30,000 points by himself? That would be cool if Shaq and his kid passed Kobe and his dad.
