So I’m trying to find a consensus for this sites favorite and most disliked/”hated on” players

for example, Andre Drummond would be a favorite since it seems everyone gets hot flashes when he’s mentioned. For disliked or “hated on” would be Russell Westbrook because him scoring 38 points on 50% shooting is what’s wrong with OKC.

Everybody on here thinks Drummond is a lock for the hall of fame and Griffin is the one who’s overrated…

I would add Rondo and Howard to the hated list… Rondo potentially will be top 5 all time in assists, steals, and triple doubles and seemingly no one on this site has him as a top 5 pg… and Howard all of sudden is one dementional and can’t play dead but is averaging 17ppg and is top 3 in blocks and rebs while playing hurt…

While you’re right that Drummond is viewed favorably on the site, you are clearly exaggerating here. He was listed in someones top five on 4 of the lists (25% =/= 90%), you’re just mad that Davis only made 2 (one of which was yours).

he is viewed favorably now…but go back to when he was in college. before the season started people were saying no way they would take Davis over Drummond, then after 1 year of college play Davis was the darling and Drummond slipped. college has nothing to do with pro and you are seeing that illustrated with Drummond. not only did fans hate on the guy, but scouts too. I never once subscribed to the notion that Davis would be a better pro than Drummond, although he could be, how can you base that on what they did in college?

I think Austin Rivers is not only one of the most hated on players in this site but also really on any sports site.

The guy can do nothing right in the eyes of a bunch of media.

Another guy who I think doesn’t get enough respect particularly on this site is Dion Waiters. He’s one of the best rookies in the game yet people still don’t realize it.

It’s not like Rivers has done anything worthy of getting credit. He’s terrible and his attitude is questionable so it’s easy to see why he’s disliked. Waiters is a good player but I think many are unhappy he shot up the draft boards so quickly and that he has chucker tendencies.

He’s not good. But he’s getting better. It just blew my mind that so many national media outlets piled on a 19 year old kid being thrown into the fire because the Hornets star player was hurt. Everyone knew he was going to struggle in his first season since they day they drafted him.

The media hate against him was completely unfair and was just done to generate hits.

Oh come on. He’s been hyped for years as one of the best young prospects in the nation, which he lived off his last name for at least a portion of. He went to the school who is easily the most hated in the nation (not saying it’s fair, but true nonetheless), has been one of the cockiest players I’ve personally ever seen and then has been terrible in the NBA. You can spin it and say he’s getting better, but as of today he’s still one of the worst players in the NBA and his improvement hasn’t been nearly as promising as your making it out to be. That Duke team he left is also a much better team this season then last, despite him supposedly being their best player last year.

There are plenty of reason to dislike him. You’re also downplaying his attitude, which has been considered questionable by people far more powerful then I when it comes to the NBA draft.The fact that you’re calling it unfair is absurd. Were you arguing that Harrison Barnes was being treated unfairly for his poor play down the stretch of last season? I think not, and that got 100 times the attention of Rivers loss to Lehigh. So for you to call someone who almost naturally pisses people off getting criticized for a season-wide poor stretch of play unfair is ridiculous. His PER is under 6 for crying out loud. I realize he’s shot a little better lately but 6 and 2.5 in 25 minutes isn’t what I call promising.

I know you’re a Duke fan and that I’m a Duke hater, but if you can’t see that he’s been terrible and he’s always been regarded as too cocky (two very worthy reasons to criticize), you need to take off the homer glasses. You don’t see anyone getting upset with Kyrie, Plumlee, or any other Duke player in the past few drafts.

Never said that because you were a UNC fan you should be deemed an Austin Rivers hater (Duke fans don’t like him so much either)

I just wanted to clarify that his attitude has really matured in New Orleans and its never been a problem. He was a cocky SOB in high school, I witnessed it myself, and me being a Duke fan it rubbed the wrong way and I was worried how he would fit in. When he actually got to Duke, I saw a completely different kid which I hoped more people would notice.

What I just don’t get, is why were people expecting him to actually be productive when pretty much every analyst said the day of the draft that it would take two three years before he could produce because of how many holes are in his game. He was expected to be bad…and he’s bad. Don’t understand why everyone has to pile on him. If his name wasn’t Rivers there wouldn’t have been a peep about it.

And I’m not going to compare Barnes’ media attention to Rivers. Barnes underwhelmed even more than Rivers did his freshman year based on the expectations coming into the season yet all he had were apologists on ESPN.

I don’t really think this is a Duke UNC thing. It’s more so people actively want to root for Austin Rivers’ failure because of who he was born to.

For the Barnes thing I was referring to his tournament play last season where he got a ridiculous amount of hate (from this site and Bill Simmons), I didn’t see any apologists except for maybe surve. However, I can agree with everything else that you said.

Three of my top 5 favorite players in the NBA are routinely the most hated upon, KG (1), Neon Dion Waiters (2) and Westbrook (4). Oladipo and Joakim Noah (despite his hatred of all things Cleveland)(JPTDH2H)(just plays to d@mn hard 2 hate) is a top ten of mine who is hated on a lot but not nearly to the degree of those guys.

BTW Zach Randolph is my 3.

I share a hatred for Paul Pierce with most of the people on here.

Most hated?

Any Greek prospect, as Euroballer has really made us a jaded bunch when it comes to them.

And a month or so ago, there were a few posters who took it upon themselves to launch a ‘McLemore at 1 is a mistake’ campaign. They really seemed to dislike him, as they took time to disparage him in any thread remotely relevant to his candidacy. But I guess they’re a smallish group of like-minded posters.

As for most loved, I feel like Eric Bledsoe and Jamal Crawford are fan favourites on these forums.
