Rudy Gobert has Corona Virus after tonights games the NBA season is suspended indefinitely. I know NBA has said if a player got Corona Virus that any other player they had played against for the 14 days prior would get shutdown for two weeks, so the NBA is at least done for the next two weeks minimum.

This is just so bizarre. There’s absolutely no precedent in American sports for what’s going on right now. The nba has suspended the season. The ncaa tournament will be played without fans in the arenas.
I have no idea what happens next or if any of these measures will even work to stop the spread of the virus. This is clearly something that is here and not going away any time soon, and is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Even if no other players test positive it’s pretty doubtful that the league will be able to just resume as normal in 2 weeks. Not sure what the players and teams do while the league is on hiatus. Are practices still held? How will they make up the games missed? Does the season just ultimately end up getting cancelled altogether?
Of course, in the grand scheme of things these are all trivial concerns and the health and safety of the public is what’s important though. Everyone needs to take this seriously.

Lots of sport in Europe has been postponed. Here in England it is continuing. Teams will likely self isolate to keep their players as safe as they can. I figure the season can run to 30 th June when contracts expire. Although a player in an NBA Final is unlikely to refuse to play if he was effectively a FA.

The NBA has a long enough offseason where if things progress to cutoff the growth of the virus that it could just tack on a month to the end of the season and have the draft and free agency in late July or early August. Then again, if it doesn’t happen, people might just have to accept that there might just be an unhappy ending to the season.

They would probably want to get all teams to the same number of regular season games but the play offs could start immediately if there was a resumption. 5 game series up until Conference or NBA Final could save about another 10 or so days.
You’d need over a months worth of playing time to complete even an abridged season though. So you’d need to decide by mid May when the season could resume.
