TRC1991ParticipantI am just trying to conduct a survey to see which position in the NBA is the hardest to determine who the best player is.
I think it is pretty clear that only Dwight Howard has his respective position secured and for the majority of the season, Kobe had the 2 spot locked up but after this impressive post-season D-Wade is making a case.
What about the 3 spot? LeBron? Or are you just super impressed by the scoring ability of Durant or how amazing Carmelo is in the clutch.
Now to the point guard spot, Derrick Rose was all but unanimous…that is…until Chris Paul decided to go off the wall this postseason.
One of the most challenging positions to decipher is that elusive power forward spot…Dirk? KG? Amare? Gasol? My oh my how there are so many quality 4’s…not to mention those new punks who are pushing the oldies like Blake Griffin and Kevin Love. Cant forget those in between borderline all-stars like Zach Randolph, David West, Lamarcus Aldridge, Carlos Boozer and Chris Bosh.
So here is what we do. Everyone vote. I want it to look like this:
1) top point guard
2) top shooting guard
3) top small forward
4) top power forward
5) top center
and this will help us collect the evidence on what position is the hardest to agree upon and also which player is most unanimous:
Ok I will begin
1) Derrick Rose
2) Kobe Bryant
3) LeBron James
4) Dirk Nowitzki
5) Dwight Howard

2) Kobe Bryant
3) Lebron James

This is kind of pointless…

3. Lebron James
4. Dirk Nowitzki
5. Dwight Howard0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/14/2011 - 2:39pm #531699

Gmoney686Participant1.) Derrick Rose – I don’t know if you could say he was number 1 before this season but the way he is ballin now he is the choice for this position
2.) Kobe Bryant – top player but Dwade is right there with him
3.) Lebron James– is clear #1 in this position
4.) Amare Stoudmire – This is the hardest position to pick for I give STAT the slight nod ova Dirk but you make tha case for a few others at this position as well
5.) Dwight Howard – He clearly is the best center but my question is who is second??

Michael.S.Participant1) top point guard- Rose.
2) top shooting guard- Wade.
3) top small forward- LeBron.
4) top power forward- Nowitzki.
5) top center- Howard.

mikeyvthedonParticipantPG: Derrick Rose
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: LeBron James
PF: Dirk Nowitzki
C: Dwight Howard
I think that the guard positions might have fluctuation, with Paul or Deron Williams at PG, or D-Wade at 2, but the front court is locked down. No real close seconds there right now, in my opinion.

Wade (Before these playoffs I would have said Kobe)
Lebron
Dirk
Howard

BKKnicksfanParticipantHow is Derrick Rose the best point guard in the league? I’m curious…
How is Kobe Bryant….today….better then Dwyane Wade?
Anywho….
- Chris Paul
- Dwyane Wade
- LeBron James
- Dirk Nowitzki
- Dwight Howard

IndianaBasketballParticipantPG: Derrick Rose – He’s the MVP and a top five player in the NBA. Right now, it’d be wrong to not put him at the top.
SG: Dwayne Wade – He still doesn’t have the complete game that Kobe has nor is he as skilled, but he’s younger and producing in more areas. Kobe has old/tired legs and has had surgery on that right knee at least three or four times.
SF: LeBron James – And it’s not very close between the next couple of players, which are Durant and Anthony.
PF: Dirk Nowitzki – I’d have said Gasol until he turned into to Gumby during the playoffs. You have to give Nowitzki his due.
C: Dwight Howard – He doesn’t even have a challenger. He’s lucky he isn’t playing in the early-mid 90’s though…

What is D-Wade’s game missing?

MagikKnickParticipantBlake Griffin? I love his game, think he’ll EARN the right to be on this list in 3-4 years, but how is he better than Dirk, STAT, Gasol, KG, and ZBo right now?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/14/2011 - 3:31pm #531736

IndianaBasketballParticipantI didn’t write Wade’s game was necesarily missing anything. I wrote he doesn’t have the complete game that Kobe has nor is he as skilled.
To be honest… The only thing he has on Kobe is athleticism and young legs. A prime Kobe would eat his ass for breakfast. An old Kobe has been eating him for breakfast to be honest. Even at Kobe’s old age, it’s still a debate.
And I think it’s funny how people are back on Paul’s bandwagon after he destroyed the Lakers. Why was him destroying the Lakers surprising? Every point guard destroy’s the Lakers lol.
There are things he does better than Rose, but Rose had the better season. He’s the most dominant player at his position and will only get better next season. Rose is the best point guard in the NBA right now.

Malik-UniversalParticipantPG-Rose (I was gonna put paul, but rose is just simply amazing this yr, its debatable i think)
SG-I’m going to say tie between kobe and wade (never under estimate kobes abilites. true he is old, but u know he will come back next yr and look to prove everyone wrong)
SF-easy, lbj
PF-dirk (ive always thought dirk was better than pau, easy one there for me)
C-d12 (yeah)
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/14/2011 - 3:46pm #531744

CheesusParticipantPG – I’d have to say Rose is the easy choice
SG – Wade, but only slightly ahead of Bryant
SF – King James, another easy one, but I think Durant is closing the distance
PF – This is the hardest position to decide, but I would take Nowitzki, there are a lot of PF that are slightly behind him
C- Howard, don’t think there is anyone else worth mentioning.

starpyParticipantPG- Chris Paul- Capable of completely taking over a game with his scoring or his passing. Not to mention an absolute nightmare in the passing lanes and quite a strong perimeter defender as well.
SG- Dwyane Wade- Can explode for 30 on any given night, statistically dominant SG in every category. Good passer, very good rebounder for 6’4, great defense, and very possibly the best shot blocking SG in the league.
SF- Lebron James- Can do everything on the court, scores in every way possible, athletic freak who definitely makes use of his athleticism. Passing skills of a PG and Rebounding of a PF. While I feel he is over rated as a defender, he is still a good defender who blocks shots and gets in the passing lanes.
PF- Amare Stoudemire- The guy was an MVP candidate until the Melo trade, dominant inside presence on offense with a money mid range jumper. Was a good shot blocker this year. Not a fantastic rebounder and defender, but still good enough to beat out Dirk in my eyes, although this was easily the closest position.
C- Dwight Howard- Could it have been anybody else? The guy is an athletic freak. Dunks at will over anybody, blocks and alters shots with the best of them, and a fantastic rebounder on both ends. 3 consecutive years being the defensive player of the year. Easily the best C in the league and was my vote for MVP, although I have no problem with Rose winning it.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI think the only 3 positions on Lock are center, small forward and maybe shooting guard..
1.Derrick Rose..CP3 hasnt been completely healthy the past 2 years and Deron Williams is still getting use to his new team…John Wall will be in this conversation in 2 years….
2.Kobe Bryant..Kobe has had this spot on lock for years..But Wade will be the top shooting guard next season
3.Lebron James..nobody else is close…
4.Blake Griffin..This position has no clear-cut favorite but Blake showed he’s manning this spot for the next decade…..
5.Dwight Howard…nobody else is close

Charlie SheenParticipantPG- Chris Paul- when fully healthy and a solid supporting cast nobody is f!uckin wit him
SG- Dwyane Wade- Kobe is still a great player but even still Wade has a firs unlike any player in the NBA
SF- Carmelo Anthony- I dont go by numbers I go by skill set. The thing is LeBron relies on his athleticsm too much and doesnt have a consistent jump shot. Melo has a scoring set unlike anybody and when he defends like he can he’s the best player in basketball(Billups said this and I agree)
PF- Dirk Nowitski- Most obvious choice
C- Dwight Howard- Come On Man (Chris Carter voice)

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantPG: Rose, CP3 in a close second.
SG: Wade, at this point of their careers (compared to Kobe), Wade is a better slasher, better finisher, better post player, better rebounder, better passer, more hustle, more athletic, stronger, better defender on the perimeter, and is a better defender in the post. The only thing Kobe really has on him is his midrange shooting and his 3ball. And their footwork is a toss up. Offensively, Kobe has more. But overall game, at this point of their careers, Wade is capable of doing more things. He’s probably a better passer, rebounder, and defender than Kobe ever was, simply because of the fact that Kobe is pretty passive on defense while Wade makes it his 2nd priorty, along with scoring as his first.
SF: L. James
PF: Nowitzki
C: Howard
