valentineIf theres one thing I know about American Pro Sports…is that a lockout or strike is as certain as death and taxes.
If it does happen…who do you think will be to blame?
When players see teams like Philly tanking at historical levels and STILL making a profit…what will they think?
Donald Sterling was the worst owner in sports…and he just sold the Clippers for Billions.
Question: Will the players steamroll the owners at the next CBA negotiation?

llperezif the way this last summer went is any idication of things, both sides should be happy and get somethign done quick. teams are worth more then ever and players are now getting paid more then ever. If we as fans miss games over bs im going to be pissed.

Magic JordanParticipantIt’s the greedy vs the greedier? For the majority of these owners I don’t believe it is so much the money that is important to them (since they are swimming in it) as it is simply not giving into the players during negotiations. As egotistic as we think these players might be, I guarantee that older rich white guys are even more so. And since they have seemingly not had to deal with no, or much resistance at all for that matter I believe it is simply a matter of them wanting to say "we win".
I will always fault the owners because even though it’s Billionaires vs Millionaires… I always side with the little guy. The Players are the reason people watch, they are the only reason the league can exist.
Meanwhile the owners are routinely screwing themselves over as some are too hands on and make poor personel decisions. To make up for their ignorance they always try to pull a little more of the pie away from the players as if that will make up for them making stupid decision… it won’t.
There are a lot of things that can be fixed on the NBA’s side to make teams more profitable. I.E not letting the 76ers get any of the revenue sharing since they have contributed zero to the league the last few years. They spend no money, they actively try to lose and bank on getting some money from the other owners. I am not trying to single them out, they are just the current most obvious examples of problems with the system that could be addressed without having to cut the players portion down even more.
Ultimately I hate that these people are dealing with this kind of money to play a game, owners and players alike. I understand though that it is what it is….and because of that I roll with the players.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantThere’s no one to blame for a lockout.. It’s not a thing that you can pin to a singular thing for blame, they’re a necessary evil in pro sports. With the way in which income fluctuates, usually in an upwards trend for leagues, negotiations are needed to ensure both sides are comfortable with where that revenue is flowing and how that flow is split. Lockouts are inevitable when you are dealing with the enormous amounts of money coming in and the enormous egos of both players and owners. There is no singular thing you can pin blame to if indeed a lockout comes to fruition when the current CBA runs out.
