lakeshow22ParticipantRose and Westbrook are 2 of the better Athletes in the NBA, and Eric Gordon is also one of the most athletic guards in the league yet no many talk about him being a Elite athlete.
Hes not as athletic as Rose or Westbrook but how close is his athletism compared to them?
Also rose and westbrook are both listed at 6’3 190 while gordon is listed at 6’3 215. Is that right? Is Gordon 25pounds bigger than them despite being the same height? How much stronger is he?
Also how good of a defender is Gordon compared to Rose and Westbrook?

SiggyParticipantGordon is an underrated freak of an athlete when healthy. His problem is that he’s hardly ever 100% healthy.
I don’t think he’s far behind either of those guards as far as athleticism goes.
Gordon was listed heavier than that in recent years, which makes his athleticism even more impressive. He’s been up as high as ~230, which is a little too much for his frame and could be an explanation for a lot of his injuries. I’d say he’s physically stronger than both of those guys, in large part because of his sheer mass to go with his explosiveness.
Again, when healthy, I think he’s a better defender than both Rose and Westbrook. Westbrook for some reason has the rep of a good defender, but he’s not. He’s too undisciplined of a defender and if you watched the finals you’d see how his undisciplined play leads to a lot of defensive breakdowns. Rose is an underrated defender but I think he gets helped a lot by the Bulls’ system.

Charlie SheenParticipantGordon is a freak athlete I think he’s weight hurts him though, now 6’3 215 isn’t bad as he holds extra weight to handle bigger 2 Guards but that could be whats holding him back from being more explosive. All of them are 6’3 but Rose and Russ are both under 200.
Skill wise he’s on their level maybe higher, better shooter, can handle the rock, play D, do it all pretty much just needs a coach to build around him

raybeasParticipantUntill we see Rose back fully from his injury, it’s difficult to determine. Westbrook is clearly on top of the three right now. Rose and Gordon are pretty equal, with Rose having a speed advantage, and Gordon is stronger.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’d like to see EJ train w/ Tim Grover out of Chicago. He’s a beast when it comes to adding weight and strength without losing any quickness/athleticism. He’s also a beast when it comes to training to avoid injury. EJ has bulked up a little too much for me since high school. It’s taken away a little of his vertical, but he’s still quick, fast and stronger than majority of guards in the NBA.0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/26/2012 - 5:25pm #716517
Champzilla21ParticipantHe tested as the best athlete at the NBA draft combine, i know it doesnt say much because all those tests dont really show how athletic someone plays the game, but still impressive. When he gets a full head of steam theres not many ppl who are as fast, strong, and coordianted as him. I just dont think we see it as much because he settles for jumpers far to often. When it comes to defense hes a better defender then them both. Westbrook has him beat on full court pressure but when it comes to the half court defense he doesnt gamble like them and he is able to hold his own in the post agaisnt taller two’s and even three’s

FastAndFuriousParticipantWhen D.Rose and E.Gordon played for MeanStreets Express together, I couldn’t decide who was faster/quicker.
Gordon has bulked up since then, but he’s still athletic.
