DolanCareParticipantI think Dragic and Lawson should get the nod before putting Schoreder and Ennis on the list.

jwall1Participant1. Russel Westbrook: He is a killer athlete, great defender, and is consistently improving his shooting and passing year by year..He has a great attitude and you can tell how hungry he is to improve.
2. John Wall: Freakishly quick with the ball, already a great passer and defender. His shot and decision making are also improving. I think he will give Westbrook a run for his money for #1 pg.
3. Stephen Curry: Amazing shooter, improved passer. The only thing that separates him from the top 2 is defense and less athleticism, but he makes up for it mostly with his shot.
4. Jrue Holiday: May be a little high, but Holiday is a stud. He can shoot, take it to the rim, rebound, pass the ball, defend, and a lot of other things. I think he will continue to develop and be one of the best pg’s in the game 5 years from now.
5. Rose: Tough to know if he will come back as his same old self, if he does, he should be #1 or #2. What worries me is how he struggled this season even before he got hurt again… hope he can come back good.
6. Eric Bledsoe: Very similar player to Russel Westbrook.. He needs to improve his shot and become a better passer, but he will be one of the top players in the game.
7. Marcus Smart: Might be a little high, but I am one who definitely thinks Marcus Smart could become a very good point guard in the league. He can literally do everything… Passing, rebounding, defending, and most importantly he is a leader. His shot/shot selection need to be improved, and I think he will develop into a decent shooter.
8. Damian Lillard: Obviously Lillard is a great player… Amazing shooter, improved defender. The only reason he is not higher is because he needs to become a better passer, and he really has not shown much improvement from his first season in that department.
9. Kyrie Irving: He has already established himself as one of the top pg’s in the game, but his lack of defense is frustrating. He takes too many shots and does not pass the ball well enough. I feel that we have yet to see any significant improvement since he’s been in the league.
10. MCW: Great player, good defender and passer. He does need to improve his shot and cut his turnovers, but he seems like he will be one of the upper tier pg’s in the next 5 years.
11. Ricky Rubio: Rubio is already one of the best passing pointguards in the game, but his shot is abismal and he just has not developed offensively.
12. Dante Exum: I really do not see Exum being a pg…. Otherwise I would have him higher.
13. Trey Burke: He will be a good player… I see him having a career like Mo Williams. He is good at just about everything, but I feel that he lacks the size and athleticism to become an elite pointguard.
14. Tyler Ennis: Decent size, good player and passer.. He should have a good career.
15. Kemba Walker: Hes sorta a tweener guard, I think that will be what holds him back from being better.
16. Reggie Jackson: Good player, and has done a good job with Westbrook out. He needs to become a better passer though..
17. Isiah Thomas: he is having an excellent season, but I dont see him being able to keep it up. I feel that his lack of size will continuously be exploited as his career goes on.
18. Dennis Schroeder: Good player, very versatile, but he is still raw. Tough to judge this early on.
19. Brandon Jennings: I honestly do not know if Jennings will be in the NBA in 5 years. Maybe its personal, but I just cannot stand him. Chucking shots at a ridiculous rate and his crappy attitude are real downfalls.

B-ball fanParticipantMaybe you don’t think IT will keep it up, but ranking Reggie Jackson, who has been in the league longer than IT and done less, Ricky Rubio, a clearly inferior offensive player to IT who is frequently lit up on defense, and Trey Burke, who is not physical freak himself, ahead of IT is a big reach, in my opinion. IT is probably a top-10 guy, even with his struggles on defense.
Anyways, here is my rough list.
1. John Wall – I think he will be the best PG in the league at some point in his career.
2. Steph Curry – Deadly shooter and passer. Just needs to stay healthy.
3. Russell Westbrook – His lack of efficiency and discipline keep him from being #1, but he is just a dynamite slasher.
4. Derrick Rose – I don’t know how well he will recover from injury, but given time he should be able to become an all-star PG again.
5. Damian Lillard – Deadly shooter. Kinda like Steph Curry-lite.
6. Kyrie Irving- I think he has gone from being overrated to being underrated. Yes, he is having a bad year, but his whole team is. He is still only 21. He has plenty of time to improve his weaknesses.
7. Michael Carter-Williams – Still somewhat limited as a ball handler, but he is a future impact defender with a versatile offensive game.
8. Eric Bledsoe – Still needs more seasoning, but is looking good. I wonder what team he will play for next year.
9. Isaiah Thomas – Deadly offensive player. Not a great defensive player, but is just incredibly skilled.
10. Jrue Holiday – Solid all-around game, but has no elite skills.
11. Dante Exum – This may be a little high, but Exum looks to have a game tailor made for the NBA.
12. Tyler Ennis – Love his on-court savvy. Maybe he will never be an elite offensive creator, but is an excellent floor general.
13. Marcus Smart – Fantastic competitor, but needs to improve his shot selection and shooting ability.
14. Dennis Schroeder – Still really young, but I believe in his talent.
15. Reggie Jackson – Needs to improve his feel for the game, but is an impressive scorer.
16. Trey Burke – Savvy playmaker, but is very limited scoring in the lane.
17. Kemba Walker – Struggling this season. Needs to show progress as a shooter, playmaker or both.
18. Ricky Rubio – Entertaining player, but needs to improve as a scorer.
19. Brandon Jennings – Career is stagnating. He just has too many weaknesses right now.

jwall1ParticipantIt is just a prediction. Isiah Thomas has the lowest ceiling of all of those players, he is like what, 5’10? He can shoot the ball, but his defense is awful and he is just an average passer. Do you really think the Kings would choose Isiah Thomas over Rubio? Rubio may struggle to score, but the kid can pass the ball and defend better than mostly everyone on the list. Jackson is better defensively and has a higher ceiling than Thomas IMO.
And how on Earth could you put Isiah Thomas over Holiday? You can make somewhat of a case for everyone else you put on the list, but comeon, Jrue Holiday has no elite skills? He is one of the best passers and one of the best defenders at the point guard position.

lakeshow22ParticipantY does everyone say Isaiah Thomas is a bad defender when guys like Curry, Irving and Lillard are not any better. Thomas size does hurt him defensively but he’s not as bad as most think. What’s the others excuse for being so bad defensively?

jwall1ParticipantI watch alot of basketball, and Thomas is the worst of the bunch. Damian Lillard is not a bad defender. He may not steal the ball alot, but he is a respectable perimeter defender (and the best defender of the bunch). Even though Kyrie and Curry are not great defenders, they have more potential to become better because they have size.

hbomb3300Participant1. Westbrook- no question in my mind… only thing that could hold him back is that knee.
2. John Wall- I like him at two because of his balance of scoring and defense. He is one of the few players in the league who can play quality defense at the point guard position, and his shot is only getting better.
3. Steph Curry- I don’t like how fragile he is or the lack of physical tools to play quality defense, but when his shot is going there is nothing in the league that can stop him.
4. Damian Lillard- great offensive game… just needs to get stronger and improve his defensive ability.
5. MCW- Love his size and ability on defense already. Seems to have good form and touch on his shot so I think it’s only a matter of time before he has a complete offensive game.
6. Kyrie Irving- agree with earlier poster… people forget he is only 21, playing in a terrible situation, and not happy… given a solid situation he will blossom into a superstar.
7. Dante Exum- I realize this is looking way ahead, but I see a lot of potential in this kid… you just don’t see that quick twitch muscle in guys his size every day. If he continues to improve and falls into a good situation he could be the next Penny.
8. Eric Bledsoe- Great athlete, great defender, but I think this is as good as he’s going to get.
9. Reggie Jackson- will probably play himself out of the Thunder’s price range. Great size, length, defensive skill… he really just needs to improve his passing, and I think he will.

Ty BenjaminsParticipantDon’t sleep on Reggie Jackson potential. 6’3, 7 foot wingspan, speed, great in the lane, not a good shooter but he a streaky one, good defense and plays the passing lane well due to that crazy wingspan. Every hole in his game will be patched once he improves his overall feel for the game. He actually has good court vision also.

hbomb3300ParticipantHe really does have all the tools. His shooting has made a HUGE jump from last season so I think in a year or two no one will be able to sag off him on defense. I’m hoping as a Thunder fan once Westbrook gets back his ability will be hidden a little more so they will actually have a chance of resigning him.
