lakeshow22ParticipantAlec Burks was he 12th pick in the 2011 draft and averaged 7.2points last season in just 15minutes.
He started 0 games as a rookie and ranked 4th among all shooting guards in the league in free throw rates. He has an uncanny abilty to get the the frew throw line and rim.
I Still think that Alec Burks is better than Klay Thompson and has more potential.
Klay thomson averaged 18.6poins the last month of the season on 16 shots per game when the warriors went 3-13 and saw thompson in the starting 5 along with 4 guys from the D league or 2 round picks. THE WARRIORS WERE CLEARLY TANKING SO THEY COULD KEEP THERE DRAFT PICK
While Burks didnt start a single game and the Jazz were a playoff team
Klay had 7 games last year when took more than 20 shots
Burks had 6 games when he took more than 10 and the highest being 12 field goals
If it was the other way around and Burks was playing 40 minutes a night alongside guys from the the D League he would of averaged more than 20 a game.
Klay Thompson is an Elite Shooter and Burks is an elite Slasher.
What is Alec Burks Potential and Upside?

river09ParticipantI always like his prospects as a pro, didn’t get as much hype because he heralded from Colorado. If they had made the tournament that year that would be a different story. He’s a natural basketball player when he’s playing on the ball. Can create his own shot, get to the rim (has the strength and savvy to finish) and he can be a consistent threat from outside if he’s left open spotting up. Very complete player and an underrated athlete. Almost plays under almost too much control, has the athleticism to do whatever he wants but prefers to outwit defenders instead. The more comfortable he becomes and the more playing time he gets he can only get better, I expect good things.

JoeWolf1He needs a jumper before he can flourish as an NBA guard. He can slash, hit a free throw, but he still needs to add strength and range on his shooting game.

Captain LParticipantAs a Jazz fan, I’m not that high on Burks, there are alot of things he can do that I like but until he gets a mid range jumper and learns how to use it and until he learns how to pass the ball and give his teammate easier opportunies because of his ability to penitrate I’ll hold back on saying how good he can be. Thompson already does the things we could really use from our 2, he shoots the ball very well. Thompson has good size for the 2 and makes good decisions, something Burks is still struggling with. Last yr Burks shooting percentage was terrible and so far this yr I don’t see much change. My hope for Burks is that the coaches would use him at the point and tell him don’t worry about shooting or scoring, just worry about being a facilitator. If Burks could learn to use his ability to penitrate to create for others instead of looking for his own shot,(and forcing them) his game would evolve and how smart he plays the game would improve and that might get him some much needed playing time. Burks has the talent and athleticism to be a very good nba player but until he learns how to use his talents and skills, he will struggle.
