Tim49461ParticipantWith the facts coming out that Nash indeed is planning on reuniting with Mike D in NYC, the future of the Suns looks to be dimming at a fast pace.
Nash has expressed his interest with Mike D on Letterman saying he would love to play in NYC and be able to play in that system again. Also with this being said many other times.
What Should the Phx Suns do?
Option 1:
Put Nash on the market and get whatever you can for him? ( even tho Kerr says he wont trade him, he needs to realize he is gone)Option 2:
Move up this years draft by trading Nash ( or other players) for the likes of Rubio or Jennings ( wouldn’t trade nash for him i understand) and Hope nash will mentor Jennings for atleast a year.Option 3
Play out his contract and watch as his everyone on the team leaves, Amare Shaq Nash, and start rebuilding? There are other options you can suggest but those are the ones i came up with.
I love the Suns so if you really want to talk lets go i am all for debating, suggesting etc.

j1232eParticipantis going down hill, Draft a pg this year let him play behind nash this year. Then let him go next season to freeagency and use the cap space to sign an up and coming player.

gatorheelsParticipantUnless Jennings or Holiday slips down to the Suns I think Phoenix should take Earl Clark or James Johnson. Both can contribute immediately. Just let Nash, Amare, Shaq leave when the time comes. No need to trade now. In the second round the Suns can find some Seniors who can help out now as well. PIck up somebody like Jerrels who might develop into a good starter. Carroll or Lyons would offer some energy in the post.I just think a lineup that looks like this can be dangerous come playoff time:
PG- Nash/Jerrells
SG- Richardson/Barbosa
SF-Clark or Johnson/Hill
PF-Amare/Carroll or Lyons

fastdanParticipantI’d blow up the team for young players. Nash is going to walk for sure at the end of this year, and shaq will either retire or sign a one year deal with a legit contender. Amare won’t stay unless he thinks they can win, and that’s not going to happen with just him and Jrich . To bad they already traded their pick next year to OKC which is completely unprotected.

llperezThe way I see it the suns have 2 options
Keep the team together and try to make a run one more year, or
Blow the team up for draft picks.
Either way, I think they will lose everyone soon through free agency, and they will be rebuilding shortly.

auberParticipantWhat about a 3 way between Memphis-Phoenix-New York? Just a thought.

maravich44ParticipantNo team gets less from such name players. Shaq, Stoudemire, Nash, Hill could all be hall of famers. Granted 3 are on decline, but names don’t equal wins. They have some decent role players too. Barbosa among others. Looking at roster and age, gotta figure it gets worse each year from now. Get something while you can because value will only go down. I figured they’d beat San Antonio in conference finals 2 years ago and roll from there. They did. Downhill .And it’s going to keep rolling that way. May as well salvage something.

fastdanParticipantThey didn’t even make playoffs this year, how would they possibly be able to make a run? They need to deal those guys before the season starts and they start to lose value or in 2010-2011 they’ll be lucky to win 15 games.

maravich44Participantwho’s in your proposed 3 way deal?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 4:20pm #161519

Knicksboy34Participant1st- Steve Kerr needs to be fired….
2nd- Nash needs to be dealt. I dont wanna make these block buster trade but like
Nash and Dudley to Portland for Outlaw ,Webster, 24th pick and 2nd rounder?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 4:28pm #161525
j1232eParticipanti always new these trades and signing would backfire. They backfired faster than kerr can think. Maybe kerr and jordan could get together and remember about the good ol days, rather than think about the mess they have got themselves into.

Knicksboy34ParticipantYea but MJ is smart, he brought in LB and he will pick the players…make MJ look like a genius.

Tim49461ParticipantI Really don’t want the Suns to draft James Johnson, i don’t know him well enough to say he can play and help, he just doesn’t seem to be that good to me.
I really wouldn’t mind a trade between Phx and Mem. I don’t know the salaries and what not but
Nash and maybe some rotation player for Memphis’ 2nd pick and some players what will match salaries
if they can do these and draft Rubio while keeping the 14th pick i would Say ” Kerr u are Genius my Friend” but that will never happen since he still thinks nash wont go.
or maybe Amare to Memphis for 2nd pick and Conley and Arthur or something, I don’t like it for Phx but it is something.
Got any other trade options that might happen.

DirtyDezParticipantThis kid would $ in the Suns system, trade amare to Memphis for #2 and a player get Rubio and let him back-up Nash for a year and then BOOM!! PG of the future

maravich44ParticipantI think Bulls have 16th pick, but I’ll bet Nash would like to play with D’Antoni again. Not a bad trade!

auberParticipantI thought about it a bit and it would have to be a mixing up of David lee, Steve Nash and picks.
Edit: I figured it Out, I don’t know if it will Fly, but It fits cap wise.
Memphis Gets:
#8
#14
David lee
larry HughesNew York Gets:
Steve Nash
Darko MilicicPhoenix Gets
#2
Mike ConleyI don’t know if It would fly, but It’s not as bad as it looks and gives everybody what they Want.
New York Get’s some cap relief by dumping Hughes and adding Nash to solidify the point guard position
Phoenix gets a fresh start with rubio and conley at the point
Memphis Get’s David lee, the #8,#14 for trading down
It’s just a thought I think could happen

auberParticipantI keep forgetting that the Suns didn’t make the playoffs despite a near 50 win season.

dwat4444Participanthttp://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=l99jmz + portland trades their 33rd pick and Neworleans trades their 21st pick to Pheonix. I think this helps out both teams alot. Please comment.

DirtyDezParticipantAs long as Portland re-signs Nash next summer I see that trade working out
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 6:22pm #161620

knicksfreakParticipantThe Knicks get ripped off and Memphis makes out like a bandit. Nash is 35 and Darko is beat. He doesnt fit our team either. Hughes is a free agent after this season anyways. We need a 2010 first rounder or something. This trade couldnt happen until July and probably wouldnt happen after the rookies are welcomed to their new cities.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 6:27pm #161622

PringlesParticipantYeah, the Knicks would never make that deal, are you kidding? I think we’ll just sign Nash as a FA in two years instead…thanks.

auberParticipantIf their trying to bring in lebron james and another superstar I’m sure they will do anything to make it happen.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 6:44pm #161647

knicksfreakParticipantLebron isnt going to sign anywhere on the first day of free agency. I bet he’ll see how the chips fall. Nash only has 2 good years left. That trade doesnt help us entice any superstars.

NYK2010ParticipantWhy trade the 8th pick for Nash when they can sign him w/out giving up picks next year.
If Knicks trade Hughes away who’s plays at the 2 for them. Quentin Richardson I guess but he’s always hurt & getting old plus looks like Nate won’t be resigned. Great move for the Suns to get rid of Nash for the 2nd pick & Conley. Memphis would get the 8th, 14th Lee and Hughes seems fair for them since Mayo wants to play pg for them. Knicks should forget about those kind of trades thats how they got in salary cap hell w/ Layden & Isiah make stupid trades for guys with bad contracts. I’d only trade Darko if Memphis takes Jeffries back which is doubtful. Knicks don’t to cut salary for next year they will probably be at 75-80 million which isn’t much for them since the payroll usually at 90-100 mill that last few years. Its simple if LeBron signs with them they go after Bosh & then maybe some vets sign for less money to try and win a title. If not Bosh probably won’t sign in NY, but plenty of guys with talent you can get cheaper too. Also they have 18 million coming of the books the following year w/ Curry & Jeffries for the 2011 free agents. Gotta be patient, Knicks fans suffered since 2002 can wait another year or two to have a winning team. As for the Suns I’d definately try to trade Nash, Amare, Shaq for draft picks, problem is teams don’t want to pay Shaqs contract the whole year. Amare no one wants till he rehabs & proves he’s healthy. Nash might get dealt before the season, I agree Steve Kerr should be fired the team has no real young players with potential unless you count Barbosa. The team is awful but two more years & Amare, Jrich, Shaq, Nash all definately gone gotta rebuild through the draft.

knicksfreakParticipantI like NY to go after Aldridge if something happens to Bosh or Amare.
