A few years ago I dreamed of coming back to New York City, the place of my birth, and on February 23, 2011 that became a reality. This organization has supported me and in return, I want to stay and build here with this city and my team. At this pivotal juncture in my career, I owed it to myself and my family to explore all of the options available to me. Through it all, my heart never wavered.

During this journey I met with some quality organizations who have amazing talent and leadership. I thank them for their consideration, belief in my talent, and opportunity to imagine the possibilities.

I will always remember this chapter in my life. In the end, I am a New York Knick at heart. I am looking forward to continue my career in Orange & Blue and to work with Phil Jackson, a champion who builds championship teams. Madison Square Garden is the mecca of basketball and I am surrounded by the greatest fans in the world.

Is this a joke? Some kind of parody on the Lebron letter?

You can’t hate on Lebron for wanting to go home to play. So, I can’t be hypocritical and hate on Melo for staying home, even though I’m a Bulls fan.

His free agency was pretty straight forward. Everyone knew Chicago gave him the best chance to win game and possible championships. Chi Defense, Tibs coaching, Rose (in any capacity) and his scoring would be a perfect match.

NY had money, hometown and a lot of faith in Phil Jackson.

I’m dissapointed that he didn’t come to Chicago, but I can’t bring myself to hate him for it.

I don’t buy the whole hometown thing. Melo roots are Baltimore despite being born in NY. I believe it came down to money and the hope that Phil can turn things around quickly while he’s still in his prime years.

Regardless of the money, I would imagine that turning down a pitch from Phil Jackson would be very hard but with Melo on such a big deal then the Knicks won’t have that much cap space to add another maximum FA.

I was wondering if Miami might have made a last minute pitch to Melo when they lost LeBron.

So Im assuming this letter sent to anybody following Carmelo Anthony’s free agency saga which would be me. So essentially he is talking to me.

Melo. Did you really just write pivotal juncture to me?
