McDunkinBoston Celtics reserve forward Glen Davis(notes) does a lot of things really well. He takes charges better than just about anyone in the NBA (Nick Collison(notes) has an argument, but he’s probably the only one), he drools like a champ, he Dougies and gets clocked in the head by a medicine ball like he was born to do it … man, is there anything this guy can’t do?
Oh, right. Jump.
So close, Glen. Not quite Hedo Turkoglu-level hilarity, but still, pretty great.
The Large Infant’s yikes-inducing breakaway miss — "yikesaway"? "breakayikes"? — and subsequent leveling of a rebounding Chris Bosh(notes) was one of few bright spots for viewers of a first-half rockfight in the Sunday spotlight contest between Davis’ Celtics and the Miami Heat (although business did pick up a bit, at least for Celtics partisans, in the third quarter, and things got real interesting as the game wound down).
But it was a very bright spot indeed, especially if you like jokes, smiles, Mike Breen starting to explode then stifling himself, teammates laughing so hard that they have to cover their faces with towels, and Jeff Van Gundy referencing conversations with Charlotte Bobcats coach Paul Silas about shotblocking friendly ghosts — and if you don’t like those things, then boy, I just don’t know what to tell you.
Gravity-induced rim-stuffing aside, Davis had another fantastic game for the C’s off the bench. The LSU product scored 16 points on 6-for-11 shooting and hit all four of his free throws, including two critical freebies in the final minute, as Boston held on for an 85-82 victory over the Heat.
The win gives the Celtics (39-14) a half-game lead over the Heat (39-15) for the top slot in the Eastern Conference. More importantly, though, Boston clinched its season series with Miami by posting its third win in their three meetings with the Heat, giving coach Doc Rivers’ squad an advantage in the race for home court that could prove critical down the stretch. The teams will play one more time during the regular season, on April 10, just two games before start of the playoffs.

Counting StarsParticipantThis made me think of Charles Barkley telling Oliver Miller, "You can’t even jump high enough to touch the rim unless they put a Big Mac on it!"
