kobyzParticipantwho are in your opinion the most underrated and most overrated prospects of this year draft… Mine: Overrated – Wade Baldwin, didnt saw him play very much but from what i could get i think he has bad instincts playing basketball and would not take him first round… Underrated – Diamond Stone – doesn’t get talk much but i like the way he play and compete, versityle big, remind me in his style Al Horford…

Hype MachineDiamond Stone could be alright. At worst, hes going to give a team an advantage inside whenever they feel like they can exploit an opponent thats missing a defensive interior presence.
My sleeper for me is Henry Ellenson which has dropped bigtime in mocks. Hes a guy I want on my team. I like his feel for the game and think once he becomes a better shooter he will be a tough cover.
A total bust will be Skal Labissiere. If he turns out to be a high quality pro, I’ll be highly, highly surprised. Dudes just not a competitor and Im pretty sure hes going to wait a long time to hear his name called. Skal seems to have a lot of fans here, so I’ll take my negs and leave it at that.

ChoppyParticipantOverrated – Marquese Chriss. High Bust potential. Good athlete but poor rebounder for a 4. Bit of a tweener (in a bad way). Not a lottery pick in my opinion.
Underrated – AJ Hammons. A very large human being, solid rebounder and decent athlete for his size. I’d take him in the first round. Most mocks have him in the second.

Evan_MilbergParticipantI love Hammons’ game. Really surprised he’s being mocked in the second round. I like him a lot better than most of the bigs mocked in the late first – Zimmerman, Maker, Damian Jones, and Diamond Stone. I think Golden State and San Antonio would be wise to look at him at the end of the first round.

holefillers1ParticipantJamal Murray is hands down the most overrated prospect I have seen in a while. I will laugh for a long time at any team in the top 5 that drafts him

SUPERSONIC DEEParticipantKris Dunn is the most underrated player in the draft imo based off pure talent he is the second best player in the draft after Ben Simmons and is probably the best all around defender whomever ends up with Dunn will be the biggest winner in the draft pgs are slowly taking over the league and if you don’t have a top notch one you really cant compete for a chip.

circumlocution75Participantb/c this kid physically Resembles KD he’s going to make Millions…….. until he gets in the NBA & people realize he’s 2 inches shorter & has None of KD’s explosion & he’s not even as good a shooter……..
But hey maybe he’ll get better as a shooter b/c that’s All he’ll be doing….. the Only way Ingram gets near that Rim is in shoot arounds before the game…… Spin moves & Pump Fakes at the 3 point like only work against 6 foot tall slow college kids……….
LA will either trade that pick or Draft Bender #2

holefillers1ParticipantSame reason I hate Jamal Murray’s game. Can’t dribble drive, doesn’t get to the free throw line, not a facilitator, can’t defend his position.

kdtriv01ParticipantIt helps to "scout" players by actually watching them in college. Murray was actually quite good at the ddmo in college. His defense was better than what you think, and Kentucky never really asked him to be the type of player who busted to the basket because of his ability to come off screens and pull up.

Mr. 19134ParticipantUnderrated Thon Maker. He should be a lottery pick based on physical tools alone nvmd his intelligence, work ethic and skill set.
Overrated. Dragan Bender. Hes not the shooter or athlete Porzingis is and people who never saw him play just keep saying hes a top 3 pick

J-rueMykelParticipantI’d say that Murray, Bender, Dunn, and Simmons are all extremely overrated.
Simmons is being billed as a generational talent, I don’t see it at all. He’s a big guy with an NBA body and some terrific ball skills, but he lacks the athleticism, intangibles, and drive to be great, from what I can see, again I know nothing.
Dunn is pretty much a finished project and had trouble getting wins on a pretty stacked Providence team (Bentil is a nice player).
Murray can score a little bit, and handle the ball a little bit, and defend a little bit, but when on the biggest stage he SHAT Kentucky right out of the tournament while Ulis carried them to a near comeback against Indiana. 1 game doesn’t define a player, but no way Murray averages 20 if Ulis isn’t getting him open look after open look.
Bender is a wild card, but he’s not getting minutes on a usually wildly succesful Euroteam that struggled this season, that doesn’t look good.
But as for most overrated prospect, I’m going Ellenson. He’s going to be a lottery pick and I actually saw quite a bit of him. I think every aspect of his game is overrated and I don’t think he’s anything other than Darko 2.0.
Underrated is easy. It’s Tyler Ulis. This man is a basketball player, with the heart of a champion, and the drive to be great. He’s a mini D.Rose before the injury bug sucked the life out of him, only he shoots way better. Yes he’s small, yes he doesn’t have a mans body, yet. But I promise you this dude eats, breathes, and sleeps basketball and he’s going to put the work in to make it in the league. I think after the top two picks, this draft is a total crapshoot.

OhCanada-ParticipantUnderrated- Dorian Finney-Smith. I’ve always been a big fan of his game bit this year he really put it together. I feel like his skills will be valued alot more in the NBA where he won’t be expected to develop a perfect offensive game. He is 23 years old which is his biggest knock but he should be able to step in and at times and gaurd a bit of every position but Center. Obviously I don’t want him guarding Russell Westbrook full-time or guarding Kristaps Porzingis full-time but if utilized correctly he should be able to gaurd 1 through 4 in different positional matchups off the bench. He reminds me of a leaner James Johnson but with a better jumpshot which could be a very valuable asset.

TarHeelRavenParticipantI’ll sacrifice more negs to talk about how overrated Skal is in my opinin. I can’t think of anybody who has been more overrated in the last decade or so. Of course this is just my opinion. From what he showed us at Kentucky, he shouldn’t be drafted and some GM will take the guy in the first round, perhaps even in the late lottery. A guy that soft physically and mentally is going to get eaten alive in the league, it’s as simple as that. I hope somebody plans on playing him at the 3 because all he will be good for is hitting an occasional mid-range jump shot. There are going to be so many players drafted after Skal that will be very good players or perhaps even all-stars that will be drafted after Skal. It drives me nuts how the NBA works. I know he has potential to be a decent player, but there are so many other players who are much better than him now who can contribute right away who will be picked after him. Just drives me crazy.

OhCanada-ParticipantThe fact that every mock draft site has Thon Maker a guy who’s motor is much better and who’s NBA skill is rebounding 10-20 spots lower than Skals in the mocks is confusing to me. I think Skal slips and if I’m a GM I’m more comfortable taking Davis, Stone, Zimmerman, Maker, Poetl, Ellenson, Sabonis. I’m kind of scared of Chriss, Labissiere, Diallo despite the allure of their intriguing combinations of length and/or athleticism, skills.

XavierAllTheWayParticipantOverrated
1. Sabonis. Not big enough, not fast enough, not athletic enough to be in lottery
2. Skal. Early second round makes sense. Did not see anything resembling a lottery pick at kentucky
3. Wade Baldwin. Has good stats but if you watch his games, they come at meaningless times. When team really needs a basket, he rarely comes thru
Underrated
1. Joel bolomboy. Big, athletic, great rebounder. Seems to have good shooting forms. Ready to help a team like gs immediately because he is matured physically and mentally

nill650ParticipantEllenson and Dejounte Murray most underated…Outside the lottery the most underated is Siakim.
The most overated who should not be lottery picks are Skal,Sabonis and Valentine.
The most high risk/reward unproven prospects who are probably somewhat overated are Chriss,Maker and Davis.

llperezoverrated:
domatas sobaonis. i watched gonzaga about a dozen or so times during his 2 years. He struggles with size down low and routinely goes to the same moves when he posts up. Hes a good rebounder and can hit the open shot, but i think he is closer to tyler hansbrough then david lee. i see him in the 20’s.
buddy hield: hes defenitely top 10, but i see him more in the 7-8 range then top 5 range that some say. i just couldnt justify taking him ahead of a dynamic player like dunn or younger higher upside guys like brown and murray. Hield struggles off the dribble trying to beat guys. how aran smith came up with the james harden comparison for hield is beyond me. i think he is going to be a super solid contributor, but you dont pass up on potential stars for jj redick.
underrated:
malik beasley. I can defenitely see this guy going lotto. Hes like wayne ellington with steroids. One of my favorite prospects.
