After reading a few articles about Rondo going to the Knicks, LeBron going to the Lakers, and Carmelo landing in L.A. (Clippers or Lakers), it got me thinking, what are some of the most ridiculous scenarios that can actually take place?
Obviously, I’m not talking about LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and Carmelo each taking huge paycuts and playing with Kobe, I mean real scenarios that could actually happen.
Take a shot and try to put together the most ridiculous roster by using realistic situations and scenarios.
I mean, who would have thought that the Lakers would somehow traded for Lamar Odom, drafted Bynum, acquired Gasol and win back-to-back titles? Or that the Celtics would get KG, Allen, and Rondo would blossom into a star enroute to two finals appearances.

The Lakers continue their awful season, get lucky, and receive the number 1 overall pick. They select Jabari Parker and pry Lance Stephenson away from the Pacers. Mark Cuban shows disrespect towards Dirk Nowitski in the offseason by focusing more on the future. Dirk decides he wants another shot at a title, takes a paycut, and joins his buddy Nash in LA for Steve’s last year. Gasol stays a Laker because Kobe begs management to keep him. They sign Nate Robinson and resign Xavier Henry and Wesley Johnson to boost the bench. Kyle Lowry is desperate to play for a contender so he joins the new-look Lakers for less money. The Lakers go into the 2014-2015 season with a lineup of:
PG: Lowry/Nash/Marshall
SG: Stephenson/Kobe/Henry
SF: Kobe/Parker/Johnson
PF: Nowitski
C: Gasol
A lot of guys would have to be willing to take less money, and they’d play defense in slow motion, but it would be a pretty fun team to watch. There’s a better chance of me marrying Jessica Alba than this all coming together, but I can hope.

Nash also retires, and Gasol is traded to Memphis for Zach Randolph who averages 10 and 5 prior to his retirement in the offseason. The Lakers offseason cap space is at 9 million after re-signing Xavier Henry, Nick Young, Jodie Meeks, Steve Blake, Wesley Johnson, Jordan Hill, and Jordan Farmar. They spend it all on a 4 year deal with Kemba Walker. From then on, the once-proud franchise fails to hit 30 wins for the better part of a decade.
