Chris Broussard reported on Twitter that Monta Ellis will opt out of the final year of his contract. Two major implications:

    1. Cap space freed for Dallas to offer LaMarcus Aldridge as much as possible and outbid San Antonio

    2. Miami and Indy are both going to pursue Monta. Indy desperately needs a two (CJ Miles?!) But if they land Monta, that will affect whether or not they draft a two.

If Miami lands Monta, that could mean Wade is officially going to depart.

I really wish there weren’t so many players with options every year. Every single player with an option opts out and its like half the league is a free agent. Maybe I’m boring, but good lord when does it end.

If Ellis is gone, I hope Indiana makes a play for him. West opted out of his deal, so I’d assume they have cap space. If they bring him in, and bring back West somehow, they could be right be back into the thick of the mix in the East and probably the only realistic shot to knock off LeBron.

If he opts out and becomes a free agent, he can sign with whoever he chooses.

As a Pacers fan, I’d rather they just re-sign Rodney Stuckey. He’ll be cheaper, plus he’s more of a team first guy. He actually volunteered to come off of the bench this past season.

How much money is Stuckey figure to get? He’s the ideal 6th man I think and a guy I’d want to keep around if I was Bird. Figure Ellis will get between 10 and 14 mil. Can they still use the MLE on Stuckey or is that not available? I’m not familiar with what Indy has left in terms of cap, but if West is out of the picture they kind of lose the ground n pound style that made them formidable…and loveable.

People kind of forgot how good Durant was since he missed the whole year. He’s the 2nd best player in the league. The same thing is happening with Paul George. He’s a top 10-15 player in the league and with him last year, Indy wouldv’e been a top 4 seed.
