rjb241Participantjust heard it on ESPN, im surprised hes walking away from 11-million. no way hes gonna get that per year somewhere else, ya never know though. i guess he wants some security, they said the teams most interested were ATL, DAL, and the Lakers but it would have to be a sign and trade.

ph90702I agree with you. I think it was a bad decision. Also, does anybody know how many years were left on his contract?

rjb241Participanthe only had one more year left for 11 mil. im guessing he’s wanting something like a 4yr deal for 7-9 mil for some more security. If he gets that idk, i think he will Dallas is gonna spend some money and if they dont get d12, which i dont think they will, they may throw a deal like that for ellis

juves4783Participanti can’t really believe him or iggy opted out. i mean i get that’s it’s a weak draft and free agent market (for wings), but i thought both were overpaid for how they performed last year. i’m guessing we’ll have to wait out the dwight howard and chris paul drama before we see where some of these guys end up.
here’s my question? how do the bucks draft now? they were said to be letting jennings go (if someone makes him an offer) and keeping ellis and reddick…that would make you believe they are going after a pg. now what? try to mend the fence with jennings and look for a wing?

CynthiaParticipantInteresting…I honestly thought of the two Jennings would be the one gone. Well I’m going to have to rethink a few things on the draft now because I thought they’d go PG in the draft.

i’m jus so offendedParticipantMan, MIL is in a bad spot. If they lose Jennings, Ellis and Redick, they are in full fledged rebuild mode. They will be pretty set in the frontcourt with Sanders, Ilyasova and a promising Henson ( would be nice to have Tobias Harris don’t ya think?) but that backcourt would be in shambles. I would have have to believe that they HAVE to draft a PG at that point, probably hoping Schroeder. A lot depends on what happens in FA but I highly doubt they make the playoffs next year with a better Wiz squad.
As for Monta and Iggy, I don’t think it is a terrible decision to opt out. They’ve both made sizeable amounts of money and this may be the last real nice contract they can secure before playing the MLE game, while also being able to choose more freely where they want to play next.

rjb241Participantyes they better do whatever they can to hold on to Jennings now or their gonna be BAD, worst than Orlando or Charlotte. but yeah i get what your saying about iggy and ellis i guess it is the safe thing to do opposed to taking BIG money for 1-year and maybe having a bad season and losing out on whats likely their last long-term deal. I just don’t see either of em having bad seasons next year, they’ve both been really consistent throughout their career but an injury can happen any time.

jjbutler73ParticipantIf Monta , Iggy, whoever, gets hurt next year, they never get payed beyond that if they opt in. They opt out, grab 3-4 year deal, it’s guaranteed money. I personally hate it, salaries shouldn’t be guaranteed, but they are.

jhbm24ParticipantThe bucks will do sign and trades and on purpose be terrible. They get a top 3 pick next year and whatever picks they get from trading Jennings. I think it’s very plausible. If they go into a full rebuild mode then next year is the perfect year to start.

mwalling2117ParticipantAs a Bucks fan, I hope this means that they are actually going to blow this back court up and make a run at the lottery (just in time for Wiggins, Randle, Parker, etc..).

Bigstinky34ParticipantMonta will get at least $11mil a year from someone… We all know how agents work… His agent must have looked around the league and gotten an idea of what he could get or he wouldn’t have opted out… I think Sacramento will give him $11mil and probably more… As for the Bucks, they will be fine without him… They now have nearly $32 mil to spend and possibly $38mil if they amnesty Gooden… They can get his replacement easily…

AmiableBaller34ParticipantI would love to see Monta play a JR Smith/Manu for a real contender. Some of the best players who come off the bench are combo guards, and I think Monta would shine in that kind of role. He would be able to do what ever he wanted to do, and his inefficiencies wouldn’t be as bad if he were coming off the bench. I’m not sure who has cap space, so I wouldn’t be surprised if his choices were narrowed, but I would love to see him on a team like the Pacers to carry the second unit, or start for the Wolves.

OhCanada-ParticipantOpting out of the contract not necessarily Milwaukee. They can still offer him a deal. Great move by Ellis imo I would rather have that 32-40 million for 4 years with the option to play elsewhere then the 11 million for one year at Milwaukee.
