The Bulls have finally decided to cut ties with Marquis Teague by sending him to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Tornike Sheingelia and the Nets will be sending Tyshawn Taylor to the Pelicans for a future draft pick. A little surprised New Orleans decided to add Taylor instead of signing Pierre Jackson who’s averaging 33 points in the D-League when the Pelicans are the only team allowed to call him up.

I still think Marquis Teague can be a pretty decent player in the L.  Should be a good back-up for a good team or even a starter for a bad team in a few years.

What the Nets did there was they freed up a roster spot. Any decent team that does that is thrown into the Bynum rumors. Remember they have nearly 5 million to spend due to Lopez’s injury exception. With luxury tax however, that 5 million balloons to nearly 16 million dollars. Is Bynum worth that?

I am so happy the Bulls traded Teague! As much as I love my Bulls, we did not treat him right and really hope the Bulls organization did not kill his career. We drafted a 19 yr old PG at the end of the 1st round as BPA. Then we put him on a team that has a coach, Thibs, that refused to develop players.

Oh, the Bulls are down 32 with 2 minutes to go in the game? Let’s play our starters! Teague was never given the chance to play, make mistakes, learn or grow here. Thibs yanked him everytime he made a mistake, THEN would REFUSE to play him for 3 or 4 games and then people would wonder why he is playing scared.

Know who your coach is when you draft a player. We would have been better off (both the Bulls and Teague) if they drafted a less talented, 4 year PG who has a low ceiling because HE might actually get a real shot to play for Thibs.

Rose gets hurt two years in a row and instead of developing are highly talented young PG who is already on our roster, We play Nate Rob 40 a game and in the off season sign Hinrich. Then when we notice Hinrich can’t physically handle all those minutes, we go out and sign a free agent PG in Augustin.

I really think Teague will turn into a very solid, very productive and very good NBA player. But I knew it would never happen with the Bulls! Good luck to him because he deserved more then he got in Chicago.

Thank goodness the Bulls traded Marquis, he was rotting away in that bench,no way for a young player to learn in the NBA by sitting.

I to think Marquis has a future in the L

…until Thibs started starting Snell.  He obviously isn’t COMPLETELY against playing rookies, Teague was just that far away from being a contributor.  Look at Augustine, who they picked up off the street.  He’s an actual, contributing NBA player (he leads all reserves in assists per game).  Compare Teague, and if you watched his time with the Bulls this year, you can see there is a HUGE gap.  Trust me, I was screaming about Thibs’s rotation (Noah was playing well into the fourth tonight, for example, when the Bulls had a thirty point lead and Butler just set a record by playing over sixty minutes even though he is nursing injuries).  But, I don’t think Teague is even close to being able to play in the NBA and they might add well get someone who is young like Toko (?) who might get some time to develop once Dunleavy is traded.

and all it took was managment trading away Deng against his wishes… Snell has been shooting the ball well for us, but make no mistake about it; he is only playing big minutes because Thibs literally has no choice.

but it was also because of injuries to both Butler and Deng.  That is the problem with having a "lost season" such as this current Bulls season.  There just aren’t enough young, developmental players on the Bulls roster to give playing time too.  Teague would have theoretically been that guy, but he just wasn’t a legitimate NBA PG.  Once again, if you compare Augustine to Teague you just can’t even put them in the same conversation and DJ wasn’t even signed to a roster.  They also have Augustine signed to the veteran’s minimum, prorated at that, compared to 1st round guaranteed money.  Maybe one day Marquis will be able to drive to the hoop at will and hit open jumpers (or even attempt to take open jumpers, which Thibs would bench him immediately for passing up) but he seems YEARS away.  I don’t think the Bulls were going to keep him past his rookie deal, which is 4 years max, and he needs more time than that to develop.

On a side note, I read that Toko was getting recruited heavily by his former Spanish league team to leave the NBA and go back to Europe.  Could this possibly be ANOTHER cap clearing move by the Bulls who want to shave just a little more money off the payroll similar to Bynum?  I think that they want just a bit more room to sweeten the deal for Mirotic, who is leaning towards staying in Europe another year.  The Bulls are really banking on him getting here and looking like a future All-Star quickly into his NBA career.

Thibs is OK to blame..but seriously, when will nba gms start to take advantage of the dleague? Teague should have been in the dleague all this time if he’s not gonna be in your rotation.
