franfranParticipantSomeone sees light at end of tunnel for this guy?
Is very sad to see a player capable of dominating the league, stays on the road because of his poor head.
Remember that Beasley had a historic college season, almost had 40 PER.I think your best option would be, spending two years old in Europe to mature, or go to Indiana, and let the master Bird do his work (Lance)
Michael Beasley can be a great player yet?

SiggyParticipantNo, he’s too dumb ( and I’m just talking about on the floor) and his physical talent is overrated. Physically he is a tweener and not one of those good ones. Some tweeners can make it work because they make up for their shortcomings in other areas. Take Millsap for example. He plays with great energy, plays physically, can defend PFs well and he has a high IQ. Beasley doesn’t make up for his shortcomings with anything.
Beasley IMO is one of the dumbest rotation players in the league. His awareness on both ends of the floor is terrible. Usually players as dumb as he is don’t get that much run. On top of that, he’s uncoachable. I remember reading last yr that Lindsay Hunter had to treat Beasley differently because he’d catch feelings and sulk if he was coached as hard as other guys. Hunter basically had to treat Beasley with kid gloves because mentally Beasley is a child. After this contract is done, or if he’s waived, which was a rumor after this recent arrest, he should look to China. The problem with that is that China is even more strict on drugs so his stay would likely be a very short one.

princejamesParticipantNo Beasley is not too dumb. The realistic truth is that he is very immature and has not developed the needed professional behavior that will help become a valuable and consistently good NBA Player. You cannot have the dynamic offensive skills that Beasley has with-out having a good feel and decent understanding for how to score at a very high level. To me Beasley is similar to JR Smith in which he as the talent to easily be an all star, but lacks the maturity, work ethic, and professionalism that’s needed for him to reach is full potential.
He needs to play for a coach who can deal with his erratic behavior in a healthy manner. In ways that allows him to be rewarded when he plays well and in ways that allows him to be reprimanded when he doesn’t play well. That’s how George Karl dealt with JR Smith. He allowed him to be the talented scorer that he is, would reward him with more playing time when he played well, but would bench him in an instant when he did not play well. And also he would take time to utilize is teaching gifts to help JR Smith learn from his mistakes so he could develop into a consistently valuable contributor to the team. The result was that JR Smith when playing for George Karl ( Denver nuggets coach ) developed overtime into a better and more consistent player

SiggyParticipantBeasley is dumb as hell. He has no awareness on defense, constantly loses his man off the ball, doesn’t know how to play angles and doesn’t know when or where to rotate. On offense he doesn’t know what a good shot is. When he gets the ball he immediately catches and holds, often times settling for the worst shot in basketball, the contested long 2. He plays with blinders on too and doesn’t know how to make the simple play. If there’s a simple read and react play for him to make, he likely won’t make it because he is a moron. Inefficient volume scorer with absolutely no floor game on one end, turnstile on the other. He is quite simply an awful basketball player and a lot of it stems from the fact that he’s dumb.

princejamesParticipantIf he was that unintelligent, he would not be in the NBA
Awful basketball players don’t dominate college basketball as freshman like Beasley did
Awful basketball players don’t become the number 2 pick in a NBA Draft
Awful basketball players can’t score 40 or more points in a NBA game with ease
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=841U5P4QytgBeasley is a talented basketball player who simply needs to develop the maturity and professional behavior that would help him become a valuable and consistently good NBA player. He possesses the tools to be a special player, he just has to dedicate himself to the desire to become the best player he can be. And yes he is a average defender, he is a average decision maker, and yes he is a average play maker. But as a coach sometimes you have to realize that inorder to help a player be very successful. You have to just use him for what he does well. And Beasley can score the basketball at a level that’s similar to carmello athony. So bring him off the bench and use him for his talented scoring ability until he proves that he can be a starting combo forward in the NBA through improving his defensive skills, decision making skills, and playmaking skills.
And remember siggy there is a lot of players who have made a ton of money in the NBA because they can score at a very high level while also being very average in other needed basketball skills/qualities ( Example: Jamaal Crawford, Ben Gordan, Rudy Gaye, JR Smith, Eric Gordan, etc )

SiggyParticipantAwful NBA players are awful in the NBA. Anything he’s done prior to being in the NBA is irrelevant.
His tools are overrated too. He’s a tweener and his only defensive position is PF because he doesn’t move his feet well vs SFs. You would think that the position would benefit him on the other end with his ability to take PFs off the dribble, but he doesn’t do that either. He does not have a quick first step which contributes to him settling for jumpers all the time and not being able to draw fouls.
It’s more than desire. He WANTED to be the leader for the T’Wolves. He tried to be the man, which helped him put up stats when they were depleted by injuries. He tried to be a vocal leader, talking on defense, taking control of the offense, etc despite him being an awful defender and selfish/blind on offense, but what came about from that? They drafted over him the next yr, relegated to a smaller role again and not brought back in the off-season. He’s had good coaches both on his teams AND personal coaches. He’s had life coaches and personal mentors who have worked with him individually both on his game and life skills. You cannot blame his shortcomings on anybody but Beasley.
Also, who cares if he can score if he does it inefficiently on high volume while contributing nothing else on either end? Inefficient volume scoring isn’t much of a niche, especially for a player playing a frontcourt position. He’s a guy who only knows how to take superstar shots without having the superstar talent or green light. How do you think the Suns tried to use him last year? How do you think the T’wolves tried to use him his last yr there? Both teams used him as scoring punch off the bench and he sucked at it because he’s an inefficient ball-stopper who also happens to be godawful defensively. If his contested jumpers aren’t falling, he should be taken out and not put back in since there’s no other reason for him to be out there any longer.

princejamesParticipantSiggy I respect your insight, but sometimes your opinions come off as very unrealistic and extremely biased ( like you also thinking that Tyreke Evans is the worst basketball player in the world ). And now you are a trying to create a scenario that pleases your opinion of why Micheal Beasley should not be in the NBA. Which is very foolish thinking, you should not and cannot ignore how talented Micheal Beasley is. Yes he is very inefficient in many aspects of the game of basketball. But his talent level is off the charts ( example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI5sHU1bwrg ). He definitely has the potential to be a top 15 player in the NBA if he dedicates himself. I believe in him because I’ve had the chance to see him develop into a good player with my own two eyes. At one time he lived around the area that I lived when we were younger. I actually remember going to his middle school where the janitor would let me sneak into the gym after school and let me practice on improving my basketball skills from 7:30 pm to 12:30 am ( yes at a very young age my love for basketball was extremely passionate and deep ) And I would come to gym early sometimes and watch Micheal Beasley play against other kids his age. I would also play against him and always destroy him. And then after every summer he would come back bigger, stronger, and more skilled. Until he was probably the best player in his highschool class while playing for Riverdale Baptist.
I believe in him unlike you and think that he just has to grow up and dedicate himself to the game of basketball. The talent and skill level is there he just needs to mature and become a more efficient basketball player

SiggyParticipantIf he was THAT talented he would be able to create mismatches. He would be able to garner extra attention from the defense and create doubles. On defense he’d be able to make up for his lack of brain by making athletic plays. He doesn’t do any of that.
He’s been exposed and that “superstar potential” ship has sailed.
Sounds like you’re the one who’s biased. Your personal anecdote means nothing and it doesn’t change the fact that he’s a shtty basketball player. One of the worst in the entire league last yr who saw minutes… on a terrible team nonetheless. Bad teams are the type of situations where a guy like him is supposed to flourish, but he was flat out terrible.0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/08/2013 - 11:20am #831659

princejamesParticipantOne must not forget that every dedicated basketball player reaches their prime ( meaning – The age of ideal physical perfection and intellectual vigor ). When Beasley dedicates himself to the game of basketball and reaches the prime phase of his career. I predict that he will easily be a top 20 player in the NBA and a all star. And it will happen, players with his level of talent just need the mental & physical dedication. And their will come a time in Beasley’s career where Beasley will enjoy proving that haters like you are absolutely wrong about the opinions you have about him.

SiggyParticipant“Hater” talk means absolutely nothing to me so you can save that for somebody else. It’s reserved for people who don’t have sht else to say.
Beasley’s numbers, his impact on his teams, his attributes, lack of intangibles, his lack of progress, the fact that he was a 2nd overall pick given away for 2nd rounders to a team that subsequently didn’t want him back only to be picked up by a team who soured on him during his first yr, while being one of the worst rotation players in the league (both in terms of raw and advanced stats), possibly being waived, etc… all that points to the fact that he sucks. Meanwhile your predictions have no basis other than you “believing in him.”0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/08/2013 - 12:14pm #831683

Chilbert arenasParticipantOr maybe going to the Patriots, they always know what to do with misfits… But honestly I don’t see him turning it around. For me the Suns are the last chance for him. I don’t know why but I was excited for the Suns to sign him since he’d get all the opportunity in the world and he couldn’t even get a starting job. I’m not as concerned with the off the court issues if he’s at least producing on the court. He’s inefficient and get’s empty numbers for bad teams. This year will be his last chance in many peoples eyes if he hasn’t already ran out of them.

TarHeelRavenParticipantThere is no way in hell Beasley ever become a great player. It takes more than talent to play in the NBA and Beasley has none of the intangibles. If he hasn’t figured it out by now, I don’t think he ever will. It’s really sad because he needs a role model quite badly.

apb540ParticipantFirst off, Beasley gives marijuana a bad name and that makes me mad at him in itself. There are pics of Joakim Noah smoking a joint, another one in a head shop, and what does he do come game time? Go out and play with a ton of energy, plays through pain, and displays a high bball IQ (even though he might actually be high). So that’s that.
Secondly, I agree with Beasley not being very smart. He might not be a complete idiot, but he certainly can’t stake a claim to being a smart player or person. He can however learn how to play within an offense and contribute.
Lastly, he simply needs to give more effort on defense. All defense is is understanding what kind of scheme your coach runs, giving effort at all times, and communicating. Simple as that. I don’t know about his ability to communicate, but I do know that Super-Lazy-Beas gives absolutley no effort at any time on the defensive end, and he certainly doesn’t look like he knows what kind of scheme the coach wants him to run. That being said, these are all fixable problems that come down to only one thing: what Mike Beasley wants to do.

JoeWolf1I don’t know why people keep making excuses for this guy. Some guys put it together and some guys don’t. I don’t care if they produced in college or were one of the top high school recruits or have good or great physical tools. Some guys get it, some don’t. Beasley doesn’t.
But Josh Selby was a top rated recruit for a reason, but Beasley had a great college season, he can do it again, but Anthony Randolph had some huge games in garbage time, imagine if he got more minutes, if McCants got his head on straight he’d drop 18 a night! ( going 09 forum on that one). There are too many guys on here with the blinders on when it comes to former highly touted players with careers taking the same route as the Titanic.
Yeah, he averaged 19 for a freaking 17 win team where Anthony Randolph was dropping 11 ppg and Darko was starting at center. This lineup is fuel for all those guys trying to dig up flops and say they still can play. They were the worst team in the league for a reason. Because Beasley was getting 17 shots per game and Anthony Randolph and Darko were key members to their squad.
It’s not rocket science. Beasley isn’t dedicated, has a low Bball IQ and is ONLY a 19 ppg scorer if you’re feilding a team that is going to win 20% of it’s game and give up 107 ppg (good for last in the league).

Greek BallerTo think the Heat could have had D rose, Lebron , Wade and Bosh all together for a period of time is crazy. .

BenchWarmerParticipantDerrick Rose was drafted first overall to the Bulls so there is no way the Heat could have had all of them.

Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantFirst off, the Heat chose 2nd and Rose is from Chicago and would never have slipped to 2. Second, the Heat wouldn’t have signed LeBron or Bosh because of the fact that the Heat would look to lock Rose up. Heat barely got their Big 3, they never would have let Rosé go. I hate when people think like you are right now. ” If it weren’t for injuries, the Blazers would have Lillard, Roy, Batum, LA, and Oden!!!” No, the Blazers would never have been a lottery team and Portland wouldn’t have enough money to have signed Batum because they were to have kept the original core long-term.

Brennan23ParticipantI don’t think he will ever be anything great but he is certainly not a shitty basketball player. @siggy

SiggyParticipantIf he’s a liability on both ends of the floor and has no intangibles then how is he not a sht basketball player?

BloodFoLyfeI agree with both of you Beasley @ sig @ prince isn’t slow he just makes dumb choices and shows a low basketball IQ on both ends .He is a scorer and could be this or could be that but probably will never be an allstar because his work ethic and behavior. He dominated college on raw skill the heat didn’t really develop him the Timberwolves threw him at the sf for the first time in his career, he lost the size he had when he was at KU (muscle & weight)and its advantage since being drafted maybe from to much weed and not enough lifting. Fact is at the end of the day you control your own future. Why didn’t beasley improve by his self hes a grown man with millions of dollars the nba wouldn’t have made a big deal out of him going to rehab.
Tobias Harris barley made the radar in high school but before going to college asked his family to get him a personal trainer , worked on his ball handling abilities , stuck to a strict diet . He got drafted RODE THE PINE for almost 2 years got traded and showed the world what hard work is. Beasley got the mins and the coaching staff behind him since day 1. It’s no reason for his short comings im sorry he isn’t cut for stardom and I was big fan of his.As a man no one will give you anything Beasley had what ppl would dream to have he had the support and stature tobias wanted to have and didn’t make much of it.Yes he made the nba which many ppl don’t but he could have been more then a should of could have would of.

BasketballJunkie224Participanthe definitely has the skill to turn this thing around and give himself a chance for a respectable career

Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantHe has the skill, but does he have the brain to? This dumbass won’t man up, he’s what Manziel will become if he doesn’t make smarter decisions. I liked Beasley, liked. He’s too much of a whiner and idiot to put forth a respectable work ethic and be determined. Too bad, he could’ve been someone in the NBA instead of a joke.
