Thanks for showing up, Miami fans (PHOTO)
By Graham Watson | Dr. Saturday – 12 hours ago
The University of Miami would like to thank all 300 people who came out today to support the Hurricanes.
This is how the stadium looked when the Hurricanes came out of the tunnel for Saturday’s game against Bethune-Cookman. And it didn’t get much better as the game went on. Everyone out tailgating stayed in the parking lot instead of watching what was ultimately a 38-10 Miami win.
What fans missed was freshman running back Duke Johnson scoring four touchdowns in three different ways, including a 95-yard kick return, a 50-yard touchdown reception and runs of 1 and 28 yards.
Look, we know it’s Bethune-Cookman, and the Hurricanes are coming off an awful loss to Kansas State, but this is just sad. So sad, it’s Maryland vs. Boston College-like.
Apparently Dan Sileo’s epic rant did nothing to fire up what appears to be an apathetic fanbase

LerinErinParticipantThis reminds me of some Braves games I went to in Atlanta circa 1984…… I was at one Wednesday game where you could literally count the fans.

Cavaliers420ParticipantReminds me of Indians games. Even players on the team complain because they don’t get enough fan support.

TyroberParticipantHEAT basically sellout every game they attend except their own home games. Many people don’t even show up until after the first quarter. It’s amazing how they actually have some good teams and can’t get the people to show up.

river09ParticipantI just don’t understand…

river09ParticipantI haven’t been to a game in a stadium that big with it that empty before, can anyone with some experience describe it? I can’t help but think it would be awfully depressing…

phila9012ParticipantI saw this too, but it says there was 39,000 people there, so I would assume that there are a lot of people that arent shown on the side with the camera http://www.hurricanesports.com/fls/28700/pdfs/football/12UMfb_BCU_book.pdf?&DB_OEM_ID=28700

SiggyParticipantMiami is filled with transplants, transients, immigrants who have no ties to their local sports teams, but casual rich fans will go if the ticket is "hot."
Miami also happens to be one of the poorest cities in the nation. The wealth gap is huge in the Miami area. A lot of the rich are transplants and a lot of the locals are poor.

MUbballfanParticipantHeat = bandwagon fans
Marlins = new stadium and they cant even get fans
Dolphins = bad so they draw few fans
Rays = good but still have bad fans
The U = picture says it all
Florida fans in general (mostly Miami) are bad

RUDEBOY_ParticipantThe Reason Why Fans werent in the Stands was Because :
McDunkin was out in the parking lot showing A Collection of his Greatest GIFS…..

RUDEBOY_ParticipantMiami like Siggy said is mostly made up of people from other areas..So people that live there didnt grow up follwing those teams..And arent hardcore fans of any of the teams in that area…And in a way, they’re bandwagon fans that come in droves when a team with certain stars come to town….
Plus there is so much to do in Miami..

MkadozaParticipantI can’t wait for Orlando Magic games this year! So few fans, Stan Van can probably buy a seat on the bench! He’d be the biggest draw.

aamir543ParticipantIt’s crazy how some arenas are exremely empty, and here in the Bay Area it’s always packed even if our teams suck. I think the Warriors average more fans than several playoff teams. And even when we suck the ticket prices are still relatively high.

akhan786ParticipantSame thing with Seattle teams. It’s crazy how packed their MLS games are. MLS! For christs sake!
When I see all those fans at the Seattle Sounders FC games I just can’t help to wonder why anyone would want to take an NBA team away from them.
