But I believe that’s where the similarities end. Carter-Williams never possessed a great feel for the game, and when you combine that weakness with his shooting limitation….. it’s easy to see why he’s a fringe back-up in the league.

Jrue Holiday was not a great shooter when he entered the league either, but he commited himself to improving incrementally….. which I think is an underrated part of his sucess. He didn’t try to do too much too early, and I get the same type of heady / smart feel from Shai.

He won’t be throwing fireballs from the three point line within the first couple years….. but I could see his percentage & volume creep up on a nice steady trajectory as his career progresses.

I came in ready to get triggered just from the topic name alone lol but I agree. He shares a lot of similarities but like you said, he has a better feel for the game and that makes a big difference. I also think he’s much more confident in running a team, something it never seemed like MCW was. There’s something to be said for a guy who was the lowest ranked recruit in a Kentucky class that ended up being the best player and prospect on the team

I agree with you, same height and weight (skinny), although MCW was more athletic than SGA, SGA is much more younger coming out of college, has more basketball IQ than MCW, and he’s a good orchestrator and teammate, his work ethic was also parised by  coach Cal, I think he’s more intelligent than MCW but less athletic but since he’s younger and more intelligent and knows how to run a team comapred to MCW combined with his work ethic, I think he’ll surpass MCW.
