PowerofXParticipantJames McAdoo, P.J. Hairston & Reggie Bullock will return to UNC next season. I’m surprised McAdoo is staying since Wiggins still might end up in Chapel Hill though he struggled big time this season so he probably still wants to work on his game. Hairston really turned it on at the end of the season and ACC Tourney Title Game when he had that shootout with Shane Larkin. Bullock should improve next season too.
Obviously these guys’ roles will decrease if UNC lands Wiggins, but with these 3 coming back, a healthy Joel James, and Kennedy Meeks joining the team next year, I think UNC will be much improved next season. I’m still not sold on Paige though, dude needs to hit the weight room. Thoughts?

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantPaige got better and more comfortable with his role as the season progressed. Remember, he was not prepared to start right away, and neither was Roy Williams- they were convinced Marshall would stay another year. I think an offseason of preparation and lifting (and eating, haha), he’ll get better.

stealsgaloreParticipantI’ve been seeing some extremely early rankings for next season on ESPN and they all have the Heels in the top 10. If that’s the caliber of team they’re going to be, they’re going to need to figure out their PG and C spots.
One of the big men needs to step up. Hubert and Brice Johnson didn’t look ready last year. A healthy Joel James could be an option. I’ve heard really good things about Isaiah Hicks, who at least sounds ready to contribute defensively and on the glass.
At PG I really liked Paige towards the end of the season, he seemed to find confidence in his jumpshot and hopefully will trim down the turnovers. I don’t really know what kind of ball handling depth they’ll have, as I think Britt won’t be ready to contribute in a big way next year.
The big question is whether or not UNC gets Wiggins, I think that would definitely legitimize UNC as a top 10 team and could allow UNC to employ a much more effective small lineup than the one they used last year. They could play Wiggins at the 4 with Mcadoo at the 5, Hairston and Bullock on the wings and Paige at the point. While Wiggins is thin, I think his athleticism and length would allow him to effectively guard and rebound from the 4 position.
Finally, I hope Tokoto progresses and gets a jumpshot to help McDonald out with wing depth.

SpacegrassParticipantWiggins was unlikely for UNC before and if this is true about all the guys returning this means there is essentially no chance for UNC. Bullock , Hairston , McDonald , and Tokoto are going to be the wing rotation.

BiggysmallsParticipantWhy wouldnt Wiggins go to UNC? A starting 5 of Paige, Bullock, Wiggins, Hairston, JMM would be dominant. McDonald, Tokoto, Hicks/Hubert, Johnson/Meeks off the bench and UNC is a preseason top 5 team and could legitimately hang with UK
If Wiggins is deciding not to go to UNC because of McDonald and Tokoto then how the hell are Kentucky/Kansas in the mix.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantUNC starting five could give UK a run but those guys you named coming off the bench aren’t putting fear into anyone. Also those guys returning doesn’t diminish the chance of Wiggins coming, did It stop Marvin Wlliiams or Ed Davis or JMM? Also Wiggins knows he has a starting spot where ever which is why UK having all those players don’t bother him either

SpacegrassParticipantLikely because reality is really only KU and FSU are strong suitors if all 3 guys come back for UNC. UK has too many guys fighting for minutes already. FSU needs him all day long and he can step in for McLemore at KU. Not sure the intelligence level of this board if your point is praised yet mine is criticized.

r377ParticipantI would have to think PJ Hairston will be a late lotto pick next season…

omphalosParticipantI’m not particularly surprised McAdoo is returning, he needs a LOT of work on his game before he is close to a lottery pick, right now he’s the second coming of Marvin Williams, he might even be best staying for two more years and really separating himself as a SF instead of a combo-forward.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantJMM is a good 4 year player

HitsterParticipantMcAdoo returning isn’t a huge shock as he has not really stepped up this year and it gives Coach Williams a loaded roster for next year. If Andrew Wiggins did want a shot at an NCAA title then the Tar Heels could be a legit option plus he’d play under an HOF coach.

BlueRivers25ParticipantMcAdoodoo and Bullock have been very underwhelming. PJ is probably the best of the 3, best shooter. I hope sports writers pick UNC as ACC favorites and a top 5 team preseason. I expect them to finish the season much lower than where they are projected at the start of the season.
Duke will match up very well again UNC next season.
Cook > Paige
Sheed > ?
Hood > PJ
Jefferson > Bullock
Parker > McAdooI expect K to out coach Roy again and sweep unc again.

Ghost01ParticipantAlthough I do believe Duke will be better than UNC, Saying Jefferson is going to be better than Bullock is kind of random/not a good positional comparison.
I think UNC is a low end top 10-15 team. I still just don’t love these 3 guys. They are all solid collegiate players, but none of them ever seem to just own the game like they could.
And for Hairston to ever be a lotto pick, he’s going to have to work on that whole passing life thing. Like not just catching the ball and shooting every single time.

eleqtrique87ParticipantMcAdoodoo has been playing like doodoo, but I’m not sure going back was the right thing to do. He won’t have a bigger role next season and with next years amazing class coming in he can only hope that he’s a 1st round pick in 2014.
0- Posted on: Mon, 04/15/2013 - 6:52pm #763326

BlueRivers25ParticipantHe is the type of player that has to take advantage of his potential and bolt to the NBA asap before his game gets exposed. Too late now. He better do something next season, otherwise he will have passed up being a lottery pick to being a second rounder.

M-EazyParticipantDamn McAdoo was suppose to be one and done and easily a top 3-5 pick in 2012 draft. Never saw him being a 3 year college player.

BiggysmallsParticipantIts cuz ppl who project NBA picks are idiots and can’t tell when guys are clearly tweeners. 6’8 220 guys who can’t handle the ball or shoot outside 12 feet will not play SF in the NBA. That isnt to say JMM can’t play in the league, but his game was so freaking raw and he is a 4 man at the next level no doubt about it. He should be good for 14-16 and 8 next year at UNC though.
BlueRivers25…lol

ByanlaraParticipantAmong Bullock, Hairston and McAdoo, Bullock likely had the least to gain from returning to school.
