I think he can turn into a Billups type of PG. I honestly believe he can have a very solid career as a PG in Dallas. Putting up numbers like 16-17ppg 5-7apg and have the potential to go off in games as well. I really like his team demenor as well, not too mention in is kind of funny how OJ and Eric Gordon have flip-flopped in terms of public perception as well.

His improvement in his decision making skills and improvement in his read the defense & make the right play skills. Is starting to make me think that he can be a full-time starting point guard, who can score at a high level and create offense for others with his passing skills. It’s a drastic improvement for him, because he used to be strictly a scorer similar to Ben Gordan. But now he’s starting to develop into a combo guard who is very similar to Chauncy Billups . Because of his ability to impact the game with his playmaking skills, passing skills, and efficient decision making skills.

Rick Carlisle is a great coach who has really challenged OJ to be more than just a scorer, he has asked OJ to be a all-around basketball player who can impact the game in many ways.

Next up is Tyreke Evans, who should come to dallas so Rick Carlisle can help him become a more efficient basketball player

I agree with this. I’m impressed with Mayo’s improvement this season as well. He’s about to earn a nice contract. He’d be crazy not to opt out.

1. He continues to embrace the need to play the right way and be a all-around basketball player, especially when it comes to helping his team win

2. He doesn’t want to be a one dimensional player who can just score and shoot at a very high level. He wants to develop into a player who can impact the game with his playmaking skills, passing skills, and ability to consistently make the right decisions when he has the ball in his hands

3. He has embraced not being a ball stopper, he has improved his decision making habits with-in pick and roll situations, he’s embraced moving the ball to improve court spacing & team offensive efficiency, he’s willing to make the extra pass to create better offensive opportunities for his teammates, and he has improved his ability to read the defense which has enhanced his draw and kick passing skills, and his turnover rate has been drastically lower with-in the second half of the season

OJ Mayo has made major improvements and is certainly deserving of the props he’s been receiving. I have always thought of him as more than just a scorer. His court composure has always stood out to me. Even back in his AAU days, he put up big numbers, but he was about more than shooting. I think in Memphis he was frustrated with the system and his role in the system when he entered the game, he’d press and try to score to prove himself. But now he’s in a better system for him and let’s the game come to him by taking shots when they are there and making plays when its appropriate.

It’s amazing, one of the criticism against him when he was a prospect, was that he was a ball dominant ball hog and that he was a selfish player. Now the knock on him is he’s not aggressive enough and not assertive enough to be an all-star SG. The conception of him has completely changed. He would look great next to an all star caliber PG, perhaps when the Bulls amnesty Boozer, they’ll have enough cap space to add Mayo this upcoming offseason.

He would be a good fit for the Wolves. But they need to worry about how they will be able to resign Pekovic rather than aquiring anyone else, he’s a huge piece for their future success.
