BasketballGuru24ParticipantIndiana Pacers free-agent guard Marquis Daniels has committed to signing with the Boston Celtics for next season, multiple news outlets are reporting.
The Boston Herald and the Boston Globe report that Daniels, who averaged a career-high 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds last season, will either sign for the $1.9 million biannual exception or be delivered in a sign-and-trade deal with Indiana.
The Pacers declined to exercise their option on the 28-year-old in June, which would have been worth $7.3 million next year, according to the papers.
Daniels, who began his career in Dallas, has spent the last three seasons with the Pacers.

BasketballGuru24ParticipantIf Jack Leaves to i think indiana will be one of the worst teams next year……and if granger gets injured, that probably would make them the worst team in the league

sheltwon3ParticipantIndiana had a lot of injuries but they do have talent. This moves to me may wind up more key than the Rasheed Wallace move. Daniels can play all the 3 perimeter position remember that.

jgunnaParticipantHe’s excited about playing in Boston. This clearly makes them the most talented team in the Eastern Conference, and possibly the league (waiting for Lamar’s decision). Marquis can handle the point as well slash w/the best of the wings in the NBA. Check his game logs. When he played 30+ mins per game, it was almost a given he was giving you 18 or more points. Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Wallace, Garnett, and off the bench w/House, Daniels, Davis (will be a fool not to return), and Perkins is not a bad look at all….

D HampParticipantThis is a good pickup for Boston.
Daniels is really a point guard. He played point guard for four season at Auburn. Danies and Josh Howard were drafted together and helped boast a very underated bench for the Dallas Mavericks a few years ago. Eventhough he produced last year, Daniels was lost in Indiana amid lack of playing time.
Dhamp…I should be the point leader

JNixonParticipantI think Daniels is a solid 2nd unit player. He is a jack-of-all-trades, master of none type of guy. Good pickup.

darko4prezParticipantbut why on earth would the Pacers do a sign and trade to facilitate it? Scalabrine and Tony Allen on 1yr deals provide nothing, I’d rather save the cash. Indiana should demand a future 1st minimum.
