NJHooper95ParticipantOne of the best shooters to ever play. This guy was a tremendous scorer in college and definitely could put the ball in the basketball in the NBA too. When this guy was on, there werent too many defenders in the world that could cool him off.

SiggyParticipantI was always taught and I teach my kids to practice shooting how you would shoot in a game. I know that’s a timing and rhythm mechanism for a shooting drill, but I wouldn’t teach my kids to bring the ball down then up like he does. That’s his routine though and he perfected it. He had a super quick release in games anyways. Mahmoud was well-known for having Tourette’s Syndrome but he also had OCD which led to him obsessively shooting the ball until he felt satisfied, which, if you know someone with OCD can be very difficult and time consuming to accomplish.

F_Ssome of the deadliest ‘catch and shoot’ shooters bring the ball down like that before they stroke it
you are right though, a lot of this kids take to many set-jumpers and grow use to it. i would tell my kid to jump as high as he can overtime even if he has to skip a couple shots because he’s dead tired

Andrew1984ParticipantHe’s another example of why I’d usually take a set shooter over a jump shooter. Kudos, Chris Jackson.

Bird_YearsParticipantI had no idea how good of a shooter this guy was until I tried to unlock Hakeem in NBA 2K12 and this guy just wouldn’t miss

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantThe Scorer formerly known as Chris Jackson, I was just being born when he was drafted from LSU, but my dad made me watch his games over and over. We actually had a good basketball team at LSU, when Chris Jackson, Shaq, Stanley Roberts, and Pernell Singleton were killing with coach Dale Brown. He attacked like Allen Iverson, he was super athletic and he was a great shooter, you look now and say he was a great shooter but he was an all around scorer when he was in college and when he came to the league. He averaged 29 points a game at LSU. He also competed in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest and 1 miss made him not have the all time single single free throw perentage record. That shows an all around game.
