LeBron James became public enemy number one in Cleveland after his now infamous ESPN special, “The Decision,” in which he publically announced his choice to take his talents to the Miami Heat. Now, over one year later, he says he understands how the way in which he handled his departure from the Cavaliers upset so many people.

“I can’t say I would change anything – because it would change so much that is leading to the future,” James said in an interview with The Guardian. “But, yeah, there is definitely a better way I could have handled it, as far as the whole TV thing is concerned, and the same goes for the build-up to the announcement. A lot of people were hurt by it – and I definitely apologize to them. At the same time, you should never be afraid to do what you believe in.”

James went on to express that one of the motivating reasons to make his announcement on national television was that proceeds from the special would go to underprivileged kids. “That was my whole motivation,” James told the paper.

In an interview with British newspaper, The GaurdianMiami Heat star LeBron James would not rule out someday returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“You’ve been quoted as saying it’s not impossible you could play for Cleveland again?

    It’s not impossible [smiling]

    But unlikely?

It’s not impossible [laughs]. I still love the city. I have so many great memories of all those fans – so it’s not impossible.”

James also told the paper that he apologizes to those who were hurt by the way he chose to announce that he was leaving the Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat in the summer of 2010.

“There is definitely a better way I could have handled it, as far as the whole TV thing is concerned, and the same goes for the build-up to the announcement,” James said. A lot of people were hurt by it – and I definitely apologize to them. At the same time, you should never be afraid to do what you believe in.”

The former NBA Most Valuable Player infamously announced his intention to leave Cleveland on an ESPN special entitled, “The Decision.” He has since drawn great deals of criticism from Cavaliers fans as well as others around the league for embarrassing devoted Cleveland fans on national television.

Imagine if Teams are forced to trade or Release players to get under the Cap, the Heat could trade Lebron back to Cleveland and ….Oh what am I saying, it is Impossible…This is the NBA, "Where Nothing Happens"

Lebron offering some deeper insight into his decision… Many fans have moved on from the debacle while others still are seething. His choice was neither right nor wrong, just poorly handled. It is good to see Lebron finally manning up…

Honestly, I think it’s likely. If he gets a ‘ship or two before 2014, than I think he might very well go back to make amends for a very poorly executed debacle.

^ Leroy is 7 not 12. If he were twelve, his jokes wouldn’t stink as badly as Derek Fisher’s negotiation skills.

Yeah, you’re one to talk about getting on someone’s nuts. Someone could file a police report with all the posts from you directed toward Rudeboy.
