On foxsports.com, they pronounced it one of the worst 2nd round picks ever as not even one aspect of his game is NBA ready and his chances of making the pacers is 1 in 300. Yup Larry Bird, amazing choice, it should surely make the Pacers the team to beat now…..

Agreed that there were better players than both Rolle and Reid. I believe Rolle really impressed in a workout with Indy, dunking everything against Monroe and Udoh. So maybe worth the gamble late.

As far as Reid, I know he’s a great defensive player and a glue guy. Maybe just someone to give Durant a hard time in practice and keep the practice intense. Don’t see him being a guy who gets alot of PT though.

I was so confused and angered by the drafting of Ryan Reid I failed to notice who drafted him. I dunno how a senior who scored 6 points a game n played like 23 minutes on a terrible team gets drafted. Wasn’t Stanley Robinson still on the board? Talk about somebody who can atleast give Durant a hard time in practice it would be Stan. But If OKC made the pick, meaning Sam Presti chose this guy then I’m listening. That guy got a Midas touch.

Ryan Reid wasn’t even the 3rd best player on FSU IMO…But hey, I mean, it’s the 57th pick in the 2nd round. Does it matter who you pick that late?

I don’t get why Reid is getting killed.

Do I have this right? An ACC senior who was on enough team’s draft radars to get invited to predraft workouts and impresses a team enough to take a flier on him at 57. The pick is now getting ripped because why exactly? I love the draft, I love the draft sites, but nobody ripped the Kings a few years back when they took Patrick Ewing Jr when his credentials were about the same as that of Reid. I also know for a fact that nobody would have made a big deal had Frankenstein’s Monster (Zoubek) gotten drafted despite the fact the odds of him making a team and staying in the league are just as long. Is it because he wasn’t on a ranking list? I enjoy it as much as the next person, but that is the fault of the teams.

Alabi’s partner in the FSU frontcourt, power forward Ryan Reid, also will learn his pro future in the very near future.

After performing well in some pre-draft workouts, Reid also has a chance to be taken in the second round. At the very least, he will get a look by some NBA teams this summer.

“I know a couple teams really like him,” Jones said. “I know that one team has already guaranteed him a spot on a summer league team in Orlando, starting next week. So he’s had some positive things happen.”

“I think you’ve got to keep your eye on Ryan Reid,” Hamilton said. “Ryan could slide in there and surprise some people as well. He has made as much improvement as anyone.”

I’m sorry, but it wasn’t nearly as bad a pick as people want to make it out to be, and it could not have been nearly so shocking because apparently one team had already guaranteed him a roster spot on their summer league team. He’ll probably never make a roster, but neither will half the second round picks taken. He caught an eye in a workout, and a team took a chance on him. This is why they have pre-draft workouts. All OKC did is lock him in for their summer league. It makes no sense this guy is getting ripped.

ill tell you why.. because most people/fans think if you arent pumped up or do much in college theres no way you can get picked. they dont take in account workouts and how a player might have done against other guys in the workouts or the system they were in in college. you gotta remember most people out there and on here only go by what they have seen, meaning they dont care whats going on in the workouts or if they didnt hear about someone in workouts. if these teams are liking him then he obviously has done something right. basically most fans view basketball in a box, if they have never heard of the guy or the guy isnt hyped then theres no way the guy can be good, forget the fact other teams like the kid or the kid did very well in workouts, it just doesnt matter to them esspecially if they guy didnt score alot of points. now i dont know what exactly they saw in the kid nor do i remember him much in college but like i said he obviously did something right to get picked up and liked by other teams. now let this be a 6’9 fresh/soph who can dunk and get hyped because of potential yet did nothing in college and you would see a bunch of people saying “yeah thats a good pick”

How do you know that Oklahoma City didn’t get Reid to agree to sign with an NBDL or European club to develop for a year or two? If they bring a guy to camp and cut him, they lose his rights. It is more than simply whether I think Jerome Randle is a better player in a vacuum.

If they looked at the guards and figured none of them could make their roster next year, then what is the point of drafting them? Sherron Collins has the chance to make the Bobcats, but OKC will have 15 players with guaranteed contracts after all the trades become official and that does not include Pleiss, Reid, or Mustafa Shakur. Are you suggesting that they should have just drafted a guy without regard to whether he could make their team?

Scottie Reynolds was an All-American, Big East Freshmen of the Year, Big East Player of the Year, during his career at Villanova and should of won Big East PLayer of the year again this year over Wes Johnson. Villanova was a top ranked team throughout his four years there mainly because of him. How does somebody with a resume like that not get drafted? But Ryan Reid showed what in a workout? We’re talking about workouts, not a game, not a game, but workouts?

So you wanted a team to draft Scottie Reynolds as some sort of college career achievement award despite the fact that there would no be a roster spot for him? If you were Scottie Reynolds, would you rather get drafted by a team in the 2nd round who has no roster spots thereby assuring you get cut or go undrafted and try to catch on with a team with empty roster spots?
