McDunkinChristian Laettner’s Villains team defeated the Big Blue All-Stars by a final score of 152-149 in overtime at Rupp Arena on Monday.
Laettner became a villain in Kentucky lore in the 1992 East regional final when he stomped on Aminu Timberlake just a few minutes before hitting a buzzer-beating jumper on a baseball pass from Grant Hill.
Laettner played up the theatrics on Monday and was ejected with two ceremonial technical fouls.
"That’s just part of my personality," he said. "And I think it’s something that made me good. … You have to feed off that a little bit."
Laettner suggested UK fans were justified in their disdain. "They should be mad at me for what I did to their team," he said. "… The average everyday person loved that (UK) team."
The Villains were led by former Florida star Corey Brewer’s 32 points, while Jodie Meeks had 42 points.
Enes Kanter made his Rupp Arena debut in the game.
